....make me chuckle. As someone, who earned golden Pally by playing control paladin when it was considered the weakest class, it's funny to see pally as a popular deck now because some of the plays are quite humorous. For instance, I had a guy aldor my big taunt and then silence it...woops! I also saw a guy reverse the order of pyro + equality, only to have my 1 health minions hit his face for lethal next turn.
Anyway, it's cool to see pally has some respect now. These new pally players will learn the ropes eventually. Even if many of them are trying to play pally as a face deck, they're still putting their faith in the light.
I'm one of those scrubs who jumped the paladin train with GvG. I never got Tirion so I never bothered with paladin that much. With GvG I crafted all the paladin cards I was missing including Tirion because I was pretty bored of Priest and kinda disappointed.
At the moment I hover around rank 7 so I'm probably not terrible but much to learn I have, yoda would say.
Not trying to backseat here, but this thread seems like it's a bit full of "I played Paladin before it was popular" statements. Might want to rethink the purpose of your OP jeffy.
So non of the pre-GvG paladins thought of switching to aggro Paladin and climb the ladder? If you enjoyed running Equality/Pyromancer Paladin when it was weak, there's nobody to blame but yourselves. Also, mistakes will happen all the time even from good players so...I don't see the point of the post other than a public shout saying 'I got tortured to golden portrait'.
Also, control decks aren't harder than a typical aggro. Most of the times the plays you have in front of you are crystal clear.
i started playing pally this season for first time, why you ask well i didnt have any cards, i had to DE that class to make for other classes i enjoy, i finally got enough dust to craft some cards and started playing it, i dont see the problem, you played it first so your cooler?, anyways i've yet to see what you are seeing in pallys making dumb mistakes like that,
i had 74 win rate to rank 3 then now its a pitful 52 at rank 3 and having difficult time, have yet to see people make misplays as you say are happening, but then again if your around rank 3 you pretty much know how to play the game regardless of the class.

LMAO at Aldor + Silence. I climbed the season right before GvG with a Redemption Paladin (Control Value Pally aimed at countering Hunter) I came up with and I did that one so many times to Savannah Highmane while not paying attention (Youtube, you wreck my win-rate sometimes).
I loved Aggro Pally, but after Naxx and now GvG it's become rather pointless. The board clear + face damage combos that made that archetype unique don't clear the board anymore and the new Heal options (Antique Healbot, I'm looking at you) remove the value of face damage without finishing.
Btw, I consider myself a veteran Pally player having played it since Open Beta (not exclusively of course) so even those who know better sometimes screw up the sequencing ;)
Not really on topic but kinda. Because it seems like it's not only Paladin with new players but also Handlock, even in rank 6.
Board situation was something like a Belcher on my side, he had nothing out. He drops a giant, I peacekeeper it. He drops the owl. On My belcher. Hit's me in the face for one. All my whats. 2 turns later next giant. Peacekeeper. His second owl on a 3/3 token.
I was confused but amused. Also 2 owls gone, heeeeelllo Mr Tirion.

My dear fellow pally brethren, it's just a lighthearted thread...chill. Sorry if I hit a nerve by tooting my horn a bit at the same time as having a laugh. I never meant to suggest that I'm somehow cooler...was merely providing some background In order to share some funny moments I've witnessed on the battlefield.
Again, welcome to all the new pally players. Like I said, I'm glad the class is finally getting some respect.

I ground my Pally to Golden back in Season 3. That was painful enough that I almost never play the class anymore.

I played Pally before Quartermaster was even an Eigthmaster.
They will never know the brutal grind to gold as a control Paladin.
