The first part is obvious I think. Subject 9 is essential to Secret hunter right? Well, the other question is, how good is Secret hunter in the current meta compared to say, Deathrattle hunter or Spell?
P.S I only need Subject 9 for a good Secret Hunter list and I'm getting burned out on playing Odd Rogue at the moment.
It's pretty good in standard and hilarious in Wild when combined to that secret lady (forgot the name). Probably not worth a craft if you're looking for top tier decks though.
Hard to say. While yes, Secret Hunter is very good at the moment, it's hard to know if it will stay. It was a big deck not too long ago, but kind of stagnated once counters were employed (Hellfire, Duskbreaker for the Wolves). Subject 9 is fun, mind you, and with more synergies he's downright broken (think Cloaked Huntress).
IMO, for standard at least, the deck seems very flavor-of-the-month'esque. If you have a lot of the pieces already to build it, go for it. See if you like the archetype. I wouldn't invest the dust into Subject 9 until you know you're going to get more mileage out of him.
The deck is performing really well atm. My games have been played in the range of 5-3. But one doesn't know how the deck will perform, once the majority of ppl learned to play against this deck. If you just look for a good deck to play atm, go craft it. Test the deck without it before, if you like the playstyle tho.
I use it in wild, it's worth a shot. I got to rank 5 in one day from rank 10 with it and i've only ran twice against eater of secrets, so it's not a common tech because it's usually a dead card. It can only counter mage and hunter at the moment and against tempo it's quite slow. I use this decklist, it's a very funny deck. It's a little different from the list that's here because i run 2 stiched trackers, they give the deck a lot of consistency.
Ah do you think Professor Putricide is essential? I've seen some lists run him, and some not .Thanks for the insight and I agree, I think Secret Hunter could be fun as hell in wild.
If will stop playing odd rogue then craft it immediately. Joke aside, secret hunter is very good also without subject 9.
Subject 9 has a mulligan winrate around 60% and a played winrate around 57%, while the deck has a global win rate of 55%. This numbers say nothing about the power level of the deck at you rank, but my suggestion is to try the deck without subject 9 and just feel the deck. Then you can craft subject 9 that is really good for the deck.
Lol jokes! But yeah I think I will try it with out him first and see how it is. I used to play secret hunter back before last rotation cycle and I thought it was fun. I have about 9k dust but am very particular when it comes to crafting cards.

Ah thanks for the link my dude. Also I am thinking the same thing in a way. If it's just a deck that ends up being good for a short while before fizziling out, I'm not entirely sure if it's worth the 1600 dust, even though Subject 9 seems really fun and will probably be relevant in wild for a good portion of this expansion and next. Decisions.
packed a subject nine during the pre order packs, and after some experimenting i can say secret hunter works out well, becomes loads of fun once you get used to it, and is strong when it comes to making HUGE swings
that all being said, i would totally recommend the craft if you have a good chunk of the deck already in your collection - especially putricide / dk - and even if you don't would still recommend you keep it on the table since it's a flexible card that's strong in other decks - ex: secret mage
No. If Secret Hunter becomes meta I doubt the best list will run Subject 9.
Why would you think that? It's a great way to fill your hand and make your spell stones more consistent.
I just get the impression it's one of those cards that's only valuable in certain situations, and less good as the game goes on.
It loses value in the late game when you have less secrets in your deck or if you think you will go into fatigue, but otherwise it's a very valuable card because it is both high value stats-wise and consistent because you will not often run more than 5 secrets so you will always draw the secret you want.
You can argue it will lose value when secret hunter becomes less strong but mage or paladin can get decent secret decks in the future too.
It's most valuable when you've not drawn your secrets and you can play it on (or nearly on) curve. As it's a legendary and 1-of, that won't happen as often as you want. More that likely it's a draw 1 or 2 secrets.

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.
What worries me is as time goes on, and if secret decks become meta/prolific, it's so easy to counter them with tech yes?
Yes, there is currently 1 standard and 1 wild counter. It is not the only win condition in the deck as you have DK as well and the spell stone only requires you to have played the secrets, not to have them triggered.
There will always be counters to decks, but currently it isn't really included in standard decks and the majority of people netdeck. You can also bait the removal card with 2 or 3 secrets just like you bait aoe.
It is a really fun deck to play and the games are fast which helps with ranking (it is midrange though, not aggro). I would recommend giving the deck a try or just checking a streamer play it for a game or 2.
Yeah you're right. I'm playing the deck with out Subject 9 (and Professor Putricide but some lists don't run him anyhow) and so far I like the play style. Like you said, it has more than one win condition and the deck seems flexible. I'm curious though, what is a decent replacement for Subject 9 if one can't or chooses not to run it? Currently I am using Leeroy Jenkins in it's place.
Is the card that enables secret hunter necessary for secret hunter? Yes, I think it is. The deck seems alright in skilled hands. Could be fun but better things to play if you want to win.

Obviously, but is it worth the craft SO you can play the deck is the main topic of this thread. I was just curious what to replace him with to get a little taste of the deck is all. Apparently it is becoming a high tier deck, more than Rattle hunter? Who knows.

its a goof tier 3 deck... not worth 1600 dust imo

Hi my dood.
A good craft, but not the best. It has incredible potential for hunter in the upcoming expansion if hunter gets at least one good new secret

Isn't Secret Hunter a Tier 1 Deck now ?
Disguised toast . Com put it on Tier 1 Lists .!!
No. If Secret Hunter becomes meta I doubt the best list will run Subject 9.

Sorry to disturb, but Subject 9 is female.
