I've seen a lot of streamers playing Handlock variants running a bunch of big stuff, taunt walls, and one of my favorite cards: Void Terror. Naturally, this sparked me to go play him....in zoolock ( ͡ ͡° ͜ ʖ ͡ ͡°)
I've been playing a lot of Demon Zoolock in Wild lately. I can't help but notice that a lot of the popular lists I find don't run Void Terror. He just has such insane synergy with the deck. His ability to proc Nerubian Egg, "bank" Power Overwhelming and Abusive Sergeant buffs, and essentially give a dying minion +3/+3 (Ex. Making an 8/3 Sea Giant an 11/6) has been extremely valuable. Even getting him pulled out of your hand with Voidcaller is fine. The only downside I've noticed is that he's a bad topdeck on an empty board, but Defender of Argus has that same problem and most lists run 2x of him.
So that leads me to ask, why isn't Void Terror considered for Zoo lists in Standard? Is the Nerubian Egg synergy really what pushes it over the edge? Banking POs seems good enough to merit running at least 1 to me.
I think the basic problem is that without the egg there just aren't enough reasons to proc him. and this is partially because dropping him on an 8/3 mountain giant isn't always good... as others have alluded too this is an overcommitment where they could just kill the 11/6. sometimes another 4 or 3 drop would just be better.

The only time I used Void Terror extensively is in a value-oriented Zoo Lock deck I made around season uh, 26 or something. Liberally used Sunfury, Argus, Wrathguard and the usual suspect of one drops (Flame Imp, Possessed, etc.). Worked pretty well as a surprise but as the meta came together and more removal was thrown in to deal with the C'thun shenanigans, it just became a liability when it destroyed my board and was then subsequently Hex'd into oblivion. Kind of a back-breaker in Zoo. So, I don't thin it's under-rated but more that it's under-utilized because of the above *COMMON* scenarios.
Zoo relies on high-impact top-deck cards, i.e. ones that do a lot on the turn they're drawn. Because they inevitably go into the stage of the game where their hand is empty and they Lifetap every turn to play 2 cards each turn. If your board is empty, a top-decked Void Terror doesn't do much. And with an empty hand, you're better off not putting all your stats on one big minion.
It's also a great target for Dreadsteed. Standard just doesn't have 2-drops with good enough Deathrattles to really warrant running Void Caller. I am a huge fan of the card as well, but in Wild he's just so much better.

If your board is empty as a Zoolock when you have gone in to top-decking mode, you have already lost most likely.
In Standard, Void Terror doesn't have as many good targets as it used to and it gradually phased out for more effective cards. You can still play it and get value, but there are better cards, especially given Zoo's new discard-centric archetype.
I love this card as well; however, it disappeared when some of its great cards went away- Nerubian Egg, and voicaller. This upcoming expansion may make demonlock interesting- but I'm a fan of running two of cards and not reno-ing it just to put in the new legendary. I think you'll still see it around and used.

Basically this, it's a card I've always really liked (and actually think is pretty good with Silence and BGH being out of the meta as neutral answers) but don't ever really feel has enough synergy in current Warlock lists to make the cut. Like you could probably run it and be successful, but is it really better than whatever you replaced with it?

Void Terror was played in Demon Zoo I believe at one point as a one off. Had a great synergy with Nerubian Egg, Voidcaller and PO.
I ran it for a while in Renolock and it was a great way to kill your Sylvanas late game. Get an enemy minion and an 8/8? Sign me up!
I build decks that focus on fun with a dab of competitive thrown in: Thrall, Master of Scales & Shadow C'Nsumes

It's a great card, i don't know why they don't use it more in wild where THE the egg resides :)
I run it as a one off in my rank 5 Dreadsteed deck
