Hi guys, my name is Rogier, aka, Houndyr.
TWITCH: https://go.twitch.tv/houndyrhs (please follow if you like this deck)
I'm a casual player from The Netherlands and until this month just couldn't climb any higher then rank 10 (at best). I'm sorry if my english is'nt that good (you can correct words if i'm wrong).
This deck brought me to rank 4, and even rank 3 but i don't have proof of that. This is almost the same decklist as the one ThijsNL used on his stream, i just swapped Sindragosa for The Lich King because i don't own Sindragosa.
My goal is to help people like me to climb the ladder. I guess we all hate Highlander priests. (I'm sorry if i insulted some of you).
Stratagy and Gameplan
The only thing you have to do is keep control of the board until you drop Frost Lich Jaina. Once you have her out it time to get rolling. You'll use boardclear and pings to develop board control. Alexstrasza on their face, and voila; instant win.
Sounds easy right? in reality it's not. Try to keep board control at any given time while looking for Jaina. The earlier you drop her, the better for your win condition.
Tips and Tech Cards
There are some changes that you can make to tweak your deck to the kind of games you're facing.
- Babbling Book + Volcanic Potion If you're facing a lot of aggro decks (read; Face hunter, but also evolve shaman)
- Fireball + Ice Barrier if you feel like you don't have enough time to balance the board to your side.
- Babbling Book + Golakka Crawler if you're facing a lot of pirate warriors (yes, they still exist) or aggro decks at all. Most of them include patches.
There is only one tip that really helped me over the past couple of days (since i'm not a legend player and definitely not with legend-like plays). That is to control the board at any given time. Try to let your opponent run out of steam and then turn the tides by dropping jaina, further controlling the board and then alex their face. (this would be an ideal situation).
If you want to drop jaina without a slow (dead) turn, try to board clear on 8, jaina on 9, and let's say Flamestrike on 10 (you can ping too). (yes, this would be an ideal situation too but you get the point right)?
I'm not the a good player at all but these are just the experiences i got when playing on ladder.
Mulligan Guide
At first i want to say that if you think it's possible, i would keep Frost Lich Jaina at all cost. You play her aas fast as possible and it's not work the risk that she stays at the dark depths of your deck IMO. Don't get me wrong and hard-mulligan for her, but if she's there and the rest of your hand is okay-ish, she's a keeper.
Another tip is to look for an Arcanologist instead of ice block. You'll draw it anyway and it's not worth the spot.
- Warlock: Arcanologist - Frost Lich Jaina - Arcane Intellect
- Mage: Arcanologist - Doomsayer - Frost Lich Jaina
- Warrior: Arcanologist - Doomsayer - Volcanic Potion
- Priest: Arcanologist - Frost Lich Jaina - Arcane Intellect
- Hunter: Arcanologist - Doomsayer - Volcanic Potion
- Paladin: Arcanologist - Frost Lich Jaina - Arcane Intellect
- Rogue: Arcanologist - Doomsayer - Volcanic Potion
- Druid: Skulking Geist - Frost Lich Jaina - Arcane Intellect
- Shaman: Arcanologist - Doomsayer - Frost Bolt

Rank 4 proof:
As a hunter player,
Please play this deck <3
Everyone plays hunter bud. It's literally the first deck every newbie makes, because it costs only a few thousand dust. It takes 2 hours on a f2p account to craft a full meta Mid-Range Hunter, and with free DK from intro to Frozen Throne wing, you'll probably get Rexxar DK too. Playing hunter nonstop is fine if you enjoy it, but it also is played by literally everyone in hearthstone. There are no 'Hunter players,' just those that refuse to try anything new (or if they can't afford to craft anything new).
Haven't lost to a hunter yet with this deck. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Priest is this deck's worst matchup by a very large margin. This deck feasts upon Aggro Rogue though.
How do you beat exodia consistently?
I WOULD tech in a dirty rat if you have an extra
- [card]Arcane Intellect[/card]
+ Coldlight Oracle and you mill their shit
it's a super fun deck. I feel like we have had a jaina control mage since the expansion and its always just kind of fell short. Unless you are getting jaina on 9 and decent about of health regen you are typically toasted by the aggro decks. and highlander priest just wins the value game 9/10 times
Priest is this deck's worst matchup by far. It's great against Aggro Rogue though. It's the entire point of playing it. Rogue can't heal themselves, and they run out of steam, so you win the long game.
I get that ... but how many keleseth rogue games do you play much farther than turn 9 . The issue i have is unless you get jaina on 9 against the aggro decks it is usually too slow. I like the midrange matchup with the jaina control decks however and see a big push for midrange decks right now.
Weak in the current meta, having to rely on the board clear from the start isn't exactly very strong.
can i ask what rank you're at? there's plenty of board removal and i'm winning quite a lot on rank 15 atm :) (It's the start of the season).
Played this at rank 7, with all the hunters starting off with their perfect curve every time it's really hard to survive, especially the through the highmanes.
I imagine you can use an extra Ice Barrier if you need more healing or a Pyroblast for more damage but Alexstrasza is a more flexible card and the 8/8 dragon stats are nice to have in the very late game.
just a question , this deck is the one that i use for ladder but i made it 1 months ago with some differences. Why do you use thalnos? The differences are that i dont use babbling books , i use another medivh's valet and a meteor , i also use medivh and not baron geddon.
Imo, this deck requires two Arcanologist/Valets. I don't understand the inclusion of babbling book at all, especially when it takes the place of another Arcanologist/Valet.
thats what i meant
How well would Pyros fit into this deck?
Hm, I can't see anything about Pyros in comments to this deck. Are you sure?
