Win with power, combos, and...insanity.
Insanity rogue is the new take on the old (and nerfed) Quest Rogue archetype. All the old staple cards of quest rogue are axed in favor of bounce combos with 0 cost minions to finish quest faster. With cold light oracle and novice engineer, plenty of bounce, and TEN 0 cost cards, the sky's the limit in how much craziness you can deliver on a single turn. The introduction of Vallera the Hollow also secures a late game finish versus nasty control decks such as druid or warrior.
This deck triggers cavern in two ways: bouncing card draw (such as oracle and novice engineer) or bouncing the 0 cost minions such as wisp. The 0 cost minions allow you to play them and vanish all in one turn, clearing the board and getting an extra bounce in. On turn 5 you can play wisp, bounce, wisp, prep, vanish, then follow up with wisp bounce wisp the following turn. An even easier combo is to double wisp, vanish, double wisp, bounce wisp.
This deck's best match-up is versus slower decks such as priest, druid, paladin, shaman (because of vanish), miracle rogue and the new defile heal-warlock. You will struggle versus aggro and mid-range decks; pirate warrior and secret hunter to name a few. Fortunately, the current meta is very control-heavy so you shouldn't encounter too much hassle on the ladder.
Mulligan priority:
Godlike (always keep): Vanish
Great (almost always keep) Backstab, Novice Engineer, Mimic Pod, Southsea Deckhand, Edwin Van Cleef (you'll draw into 0 cost cards...trust me), Coldlight Oracle (versus control)
Decent (keep when you have cards to combo them with) Preperation (with mimic pod or vanish), any bounce minions, shadowstep
Horrible: Anything else.
Enjoy!
This version of insanity rogue is a meme deck - you can get it to legendary with a lot of effort but it is not made for climbing; it is made for fun.
I have made a more effective, consistent, and substantially stronger version of the deck which can be found here: Insanity Rogue
You play this deck like miracle rogue, use your early tempo to secure your life total, cycle in the mid game with novice and oracle (while completing quest) and finish the game with your huge caverns + valeera combo.
Current win rate with this deck is 65% this season, up from 56% last season.
Deadscale knight does nothing early on so he does not fit in a control style deck. Even if you make him a 5/5, he would still die to typical removal.
1 mana is a huge difference. The 1 mana minions let you bounce them for no cost and play them before and after vanish as early as possible.
Recording of Trump playing against this deck (and its creator possibly). Amazing match to watch.
The idea is great! Glad to see quest rogue being re-shaped into more control-ish and less rng favoured deck. Plz let us know how it perfroms in high ranks with more stats :)
I watched a TrumpHS stream where he ran into you playing this deck around rank 4. That was definitely the best game I've seen since KoFT released. Such an intense match.
Planning to play around with this deck a bit, thanks for the list!
I like this deck so far, but I don't have Patches so I'm trying to figure out what to replace him with..
Also, you say "Great (almost always keep) Backstab" but Backstab isn't in the deck?
Patches is a mainstay in any rogue deck so you would ideally want to craft him ASAP. But for now, you can replace him with either a hungry crab or voodoo doctor.
The backstab was removed for a Glacial Shard...doing so increased the winrate by about 3 percent.
Yeah I'm working on crafting him, I'v noticed just about every good rouge has one. Thanks for the suggestions!
