If you would like to ask me any questions directly and live, or be one step ahead of the meta check out my stream at http://www.twitch.tv/sigmasrb at 6 PM CET almost every day and follow the feeds on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/sigmasrb or Twitter -https://twitter.com/sigmasrb for all news! I will try to stream at this time in between 3-5 days a week where I will be playing all of my decks posted here plus some other ones.
Hey guys Sigma here, 8-time Legend player, Deck Architect, Guide Writer and Hearthpwn Analyst coming to you with a fresh version of the Tempo Mage, one of the more successful versions I used to climb the ladder in S22 to legend, where I managed to reach it pretty early. The list is a little bit different from the one that you can find in my decks, and probably a lot deadlier.
First and foremost, the tempo mage is of course, based on building and keeping tempo, as the name states, and that means to be able to have turns with positive value, which can go as far as putting new minions out + removing opponent's board with cheap/ free spells + going face with the minions already present on the board. Now, this deck differs by not using Azure Drakes, but using Ethereal Conjurers as wild cards, which alongside the Sludge Belcher can trigger the Effigy and spawn another 5 mana cost minion, which can be pretty crazy sometimes. And of course, one of the main things, from which we have the name of the deck, is the absence of Archmage Antonidas, the late mentor of Jaina. The reasoning behind that is that it's just damn too slow for the current meta. It requires you to either have spells to go with him which means that he will be thrown out on turn 8 or 9, but in any case he just doesn't bring enough impact on the board after being played. That's why he was replaced by Ragnaros the Firelord, who has much more impact and has saved me A LOT of games in the last season.
Here is the actual screenshot of me reaching legend in S22 with this deck (+ some viewers which were present at the time :) ):
If the deck reaches 50 upvotes, I will write out one of the SigGuides for it, which will be detailed as ever! The only reason that I am setting up this goal is to motivate you guys motivate me motivate you (motivating x ∞) and to know that you guys like the deck enough for me to write out details for the gameplay! Until the goal has been reached, I will leave you guys with this new mulligan and I will be adding a card replacement section in the next day or two.
You guys crushed this goal to smithereens! Hottest deck of the week! Thank you SO much for your continuous trust! More decks soon to come!
MULLIGAN
Mulligan for this deck doesn't really vary that much, as the priority cards are almost the same for every class. The priority cards vary just a tiny bit based on what is expected form the before mentioned class in the early game. The difference between having the coin or not here is only that if you have the Coin against a slower class like Warlock(if Reno), priest or a druid that isn't getting a perfect curve, you can keep Flamewaker and not take it out straight away but wait for turn 4 and take it out with Frostbolt, or use the Coin on turn 3 with Flamewaker and Arcane Missiles/Arcane Blast.
A little sidenote - Minions are almost ALWAYS better than spells. If you have no minions in hand but all early spells, you might want to even ditch all of them just to try to get some of the minions. Another thing; NEVER keep a Frostbolt AND a Flamecannon early on. Choose one. Also , the cards that have a white outline are the cards with the highest priority for that specific class
CARD REPLACEMENTS
Please note: Even though I always encourage people to try out different variations of my deck which suits their tastings more, try not to steer too much from my list or else it will be a completely different variation of the tempo mage! Regarding the Mirror Image, I don't encourage it that much as there aren't that many warriors around but it might enforce Jerry to remove more stuff, so try it out!
There is the card replacement picture! And a surprise guest! What is that guy doing in there??? It seems Jaraxxus just wants to be faced. :(
The video is done and up! Now after I am done with the video, I can devote myself to the SigGuide! Expect it soon!
FAQ:
How does one Arcane Blast make any sense when you don't run any Azure Drakes?
In most of my games it was just used as an early free removal with the help of Sorcerer's Apprentice, even without any Spell Damage buffs. It will remain in the deck until I find a better alternative.
As you guys loved the mulligan pictures from the Demon Reno, here they are again!
You had to get close to the screen to see the first one, didn't you? :D
Cheers for checking out yet another Sigma's deck and as always, the constructive criticism and any suggestions to improve the deck are warmly accepted! See you on the stream!
Cheers,
Sig
Well done!
deck so good rank 18-10 in a day
Good job!
Great deck and guide !! Good job bro ! Here's my gameplay.. =)
Pretty cool video. Small remarks: Don't let your annotation stay for the duration of the whole video until the viewer takes it off. Secondly, show the rank that you're playing this on, it gives the viewer better insight.
danke you
Most welcome. How is the sub working out for you?
This deck has way too many 3 drops. They feel very clunky.
most tempo mage decks run 2 arcane intellect 2 flamewaker and 2-3 secrets, which is what this one runs, while it sucks drawing secrets sometimes early, its not the worst to draw them late.
This deck only runs three secrets. Other early game is the same as in every tempo mage.
My lack of Antonidas has always kept me from playing this archetype, so I'm very excited to try out this version! The argument for Rag makes a lot of sense too. Usually when I lose to tempo mage, it's because they got a fantastic start with the synergies and I couldn't catch up. I can't remember the last time Antonidas was a deciding factor in a game I played against tempo mage (freeze mage is another story, lol).
So how did it go? :)
Glad you like it!
mostly loosing because my starting cards are fucking bad.
It comes and goes man. I had times when I went 5-0 and 0-5 due to bad card draws. That's just how tempo decks work.
Fantastic deck. Best deck to use from rank 25-8. I am at 49-15. Mull hard for Mana Wyrm, Arcane Missle, Frost Bolt and Flamecannon. Swapping arcane blast for a flamecannon is really important as it will help with a lot of aggo deck ( mech mage , aggro paladin, aggo hunter ) . Try and play effigy effectively as it can win games.
Thank you very much! Glad you like it!
You missing key cards for a deck doesn't make it bad one. It's performing quite well actually.
Excellent guide. Will definitely give this one a go.
Thank you!
