PROOF OF LEGEND:
VIDEO EXPLANATION:
GAME PLAN:
We have a Tempo Mage here, so we need to gain as much Tempo as possible while being as aggro as possible, thanks to the extra mileage of the Ice Block for its main effect (of having us not die once) and the collateral effect: the mistakes that the opponent will make during the game, not really knowing what this secret will be.
You see, when people play an underpar turn, trying to proc our secret, playing crappy minions/spell, they are doing the correct play. But if we have an Ice Block out, they'll waste their turn in vain. All the while we build up Tempo and board presence. Or we shoot them in the face with our burn spell. Or both!
Play for Tempo, remove minions efficiently and let the PEW PEW begin!
CARD CHOICES:
This time around I'll go over only the "unconventional" choices
Really strong opening vs many classes paired with a Mana Wyrm and a Coin. Protects our board from weapons/minions and lets us unleash the sinergy of our deck. Often gaining a single turn could be game winning and don't forget that decks like a ZooLock that is a little behind could have trouble removing them efficiently. Playing Archmage Antonidas followed by this, gives you the first Fireball and could protect our Fireball's Santa from the minions that are trying to kill him.
There it is, the star of the deck. The Playmaker. The MVP. Just thinking the faces of our opponents while they struggle to guess which damn secret hides the little purple dot, makes my smile grow wider every second they spend wondering. Countless times the opponent tries to proc the secret with a crappy minion or an useless spell. You know what makes me happier? When they realize (usually too late for them) that is an Ice Block and they have thrown away their winning condition AND their turns trying to guess. But you know what makes me REALLY happy? When I play another secret and they start the guessing work all over again. Also pretty much guarantess the value of both Mad Scientist having 3 different Secrets in the deck. Yay!
SUBS:
The only substitutions that I could advise are this ones:
1x Mirror Image ► 1x Arcane Blast
if you really feel like you need some spells to board control early in the game.
1x Ice Block ► 1x Duplicate / 1x Effigy
if you don't own one or you simply don't want to run it. They can have a similar effect on the guessing works of your opponents, but they do have a negative synergy with the early game minions and 0/2 images... run them at your own risk.
MULLIGAN STRATEGY:
Try your best to have the smoothest mana curve possible. Try to exploit the Coin with the Flamewaker or Mana Wyrm synergy, or in the worst case with Archmage Antonidas to create an extra Fireball
Always keep Mad Scientist and Mana Wyrm
Vs Shamans, Druids, Mages, Paladins and Warlocks keeping also a Frostbolt to kill the early minions is also advisable.
MATCH UPS:
This is the record of my win rate from rank 4 3 stars to Legend. Yay for a meta full of Druids and Secret Pally to wreck really hard!
If you have any question feel free to post in the comments and I'll answer everyone asap, and don't forget to leave a like on the deck or on any of my socials! See you around ;)
what replacements for Antonidas?
try Ragnaros, it isn't the same of course, but it's a minion that left on the board is going to win you the game, but craft Antonidas as soon as possible, it's too good to not play it :)
The dream scenario that has happened twice to me during my rank 5 battles was getting coin + sorc apprentice + mirror image. great turn 1 move to get her out to cheapen your spells and then block her from getting potentially killed with 2 taunts.
That's a terrible play
Just hit rank 4 w/ it from no stars 5. had 1 loss between but other than that great. I pray I can hit legend with it before the season is over. Last season I made it to rank 2 on new years eve night and didnt make it w/ secret pally :c
let us know how it goes! gl hf!
Blown away that you didn't face any warriors.....
Great deck though! I'm a huge fan of Tempo and I'm trying this currently at rank 4.
Well Patron is a decent matchup, while Control is quite hard if they see the Justicar.. happy that you like the deck! gl hf
Swapped one Arcane Intellect for an Ethereal Conjurer because I thought I should embrace the RNG
the problem is that Ethereal is way too slow imho, but if it works for you by all means do it! gl hf
my pleasure! happy to know that you liked the deck! gl hf
Why no Arcane Blast?
It has great synergy with Drake and it can buff minions
doesn't protect our minions from weapon classes and early board threats.... try running 1 of each if you feel the need of it :) gl hf
felice che ti piaccia! se vuoi ci puoi arrivare pure a Legend come ho fatto io ;)
Having great success with the Ice Block.
Played 6 games so far with this deck and won 5-1. One of the games the Ice Block saved me against an aggro shaman. I had 9 health left with some minions on board, he had no minions and I had counterspell+iceblock up.
He used lava plume and it got counterspelled then used a crackle which only did 5. Then I attacked w/ my minions and put up taunts and next turn he got another spell and hit my face and the ice block triggered :)
Amazing! Keep up with the good work! :) gl hf
Bella! #OrsiIncazzuti
no it isn't worth it sadly. if you don't have the Ice Block you could try running duplicate or effigy or just play a normal tempo mage. you should still look to craft 1 or 2 Ice Blocks that Freeze Mage is a really good deck! :)
