It was designed to be a midrange combo deck, that is able to fight and win aggro decks, burst control ones. It's good against other combo decks, since you get your combos faster, It's also able to keep you alive till mid game to throw out your combo against this meta. The only issue with this deck is pretty standard, the lack of damage output vs warriors as due to bad RNG, getting a bad starting hand can hurt you a lot. If you draw Si:7 in your starting hand, always keep it, backstab and Si:7 can kill a 4 health minions. Your win condition is to have oil and fury in your hand so you will be able to dish out a lot of damage in one turn, so just control the board till you get oil and fury in your hand.

  • Maintain board control early, try to get cards like Si:7 and backstab early, you could also coin, backstab and Edwin vancleef.
  • It's okay to dagger and hit face at turn 2 if you have nothing to play at turn 3 except redaggering.
  • If you are losing board control early, find ways to regain board control using deadly poison * fury and throw out a Minion.
  • Sap for an instant board and tempo swing.
  • Think ahead a couple of turns.
  • Try to keep you Minions alive most of the time, its okay to deadly poison and hit with your face to get board control.
  • Keep in mind your weapons durability to get the most out of weapon buffs eg: don't hit face turn 2 with your dagger, but save the charge for poison + a 2 drop on turn 3
  • For maximum value always try to combo the combo cards eg: oil, eviscerate, backstab, deadly poison and Si:7.
  • goblin barber was added to deal with early game aggro as well as that pretty usefull 1 extra damage to the dagger, Sabotage was added to help me against control warrior match up as well as aggro shaman and face hunter weapons.

Oil Rogue Mulligan Guide and Strategy

Backstab, SI:7 Agent, and Deadly Poison are high value when looking to mulligan for Oil Rogue. Fan of Knives can be kept against Paladin to defend against Muster for Battle. Violet Teacher is a strong keep against Midrange and Control decks.

Mryagut, one of the strongest Oil Rogue players, will actually keep Sprint against Control Warrior.

Oil Rogue Combos and Synergies

There’s a lot of good combos in this deck, and most of them start with Preparation. Violet Teacher, Prep, into a Sap on a Piloted Shredder is a monster tempo play that can outright win you a game. Preparation into a turn 4 Sprint gives you a ton of card advantage. You can also get a turn-3 6/6 Edwin VanCleef just by playing Prep (Eviscerate or Deadly Poison for example) into another spell. You’ll generally want to stick with a 6/6 to avoid Big Game Hunter.

Tinker's Sharpsword Oil and Deadly Poison are great for finishing off your opponent, this is especially the case when you pair them with Blade Flurry. This is also one of the reasons you want to save the durability on your weapon. You can attack with the oiled/poisoned weapon, then use Blade Flurry to get double damage in. Also, keep in mind that Spell Damage DOES work with Blade Flurry, but because Blade Flurry doesn’t list the damage on the card this can be often overlooked.
