My variant on what I'm sure are several aggressive Shaman decks. The base of the deck is mechs, but cards like Leper Gnome and Totem Golem pack an early game punch. A personal favorite is the Whirling Zap-o-matic which, if unchecked, makes quick work of control decks.
The deck sports multiple finishers such as the Doomhammer + Rockbiter Weapon (the latter can obviously also be used to protect key early drops) and Crackles and a Lava Burst. A single Earth Shock helps with late game taunts.
Similar to other aggressive decks, an opening hand full of finishers usually loses you the game, just as running out of steam will. The inclusion of Jeeves helps greatly in the second scenario.
Mulligan is easy; most 1 and 2 drops work well in the opening hand. I usually go for the 'go big or go home' plays and coin out a Whirling Zap-o-matic but a Annoy-o-Tron or spell bait might be more prudent.
Hope you all like the deck. I didn't record my win ratio, but this deck took me from the lower ranks to legendary. From 4 to legend took much of my Saturday and a few games on Sunday morning.
Update September: Still strong for the current season. Took a few hours (spread over the first four days) to get to rank 5. Might take it to legendary again if it's smooth sailing from here on (though the reward chest legend vs. rank 5 doesn't warrant it). Weak vs. beast hunter and toss-up vs. face hunter and secret paladin (though Noble Sacrifice is the only real threat here.
Hello, really nice deck, i took 13 rang for the first time because of you!) But now i playing versus paladins, priest, locks and hunters and it is really hard, i am 14 rang now. Thank you rof this deck. Good luck!)
glad you like it! Played a few games myself with it today to start the season and it was working out quite well :)
I've won quite a few battles with this deck, so thanks for that.
However, how do I deal with aggro decks? They just seem to own me so hard.
Hi! The deck is best vs control and things like patron. Sadly, with the nerf of the latter it will mean face hunter and zoo are back in action which this deck might struggle against. Nonetheless it's still a relevant aggro shaman option, just not as quick as Hunter or Paladin.
Really awesome deck! I love shaman and last season i got to rank 12 with totem shaman. Jeeves makes up for the lack of card draws and I have to agree that shaman dies out the moment the player runs out of cards.
I subbed Doomhammer with Bloodlust tho.
Any tips on Mulligan and trading? Also how do you go about board clears, given you have no Lightning storm?
Hi! I'm happy you like the deck. I've not used it as much last month as I felt it didn't do the job vs. secret paladins. I personally would keep the Doomhammer in there as it makes for a game winning burst with one or two Rockbiters.
Regarding board clears; the idea is to outpace your opponent so that he is forced to clear your sturdy minions with his. I try to trade only when I have to, ie. taunts, in order to protect my Flametongues or versus other serious threats (Leper Gnome into Knife Juggler or another 3/2 that might kill something larger).
the reason why i used bloodlust is i dont have doomhammer yet. Im a little short on dusts.
I've done well against dragon priests, face hunters, and handlocks this month, but the secret pally is just a pain in the arse.
The Jeeves is also very helpful when it comes to the midgame to late game transition. The draw really helps, especially when you've spent your hand and are looking for the cards burined deep in the deck.
I was skeptical about the jeeves, I hate giving a potential advantage to the enemy, but it just won me the game against a ramp druid. 3 cards every round almost always trumped his 1 big drop or 2 medium drops. Thanks for the list, gonna play it some more. Edit: Just beat a dragon priest thanks to jeeves yet again! even though it was only the first 3 cards before he died, it was what I needed.
I'm glad you like it! Although Jeeves can come at the most awkward of times (opening hand, or two in hand early in the game) it's the only reliable card to keep you in the game once you run out of steam. Often your initial assault will take your opponent down to low health and Jeeves gets you that Death's Bite or 4 attack charger.
good luck on your climb!
Great deck.
What do you mulligan for?
thanks! I would mulligan for 1 and 2 drops. Obviously an uncontested Whirling Zap-o-matic is the best, but that might be hard to pull off.
I will try it out too! Current goal is to get the golden portrait for Thrall ^^
And this is an excellent deck for it! Whether lose or win, games are fast. I'm only 40 wins off a golden portrait myself.
That's great. I am somewhere between rank 9 and 8 atm. Exactly how aggressive do you play this deck? When do you trade, and do you use spells for removal or save them as finishers? Also, why have you left out loatheb? Thanks :)
Good question and it really depends on the situation. I try to play aggressively, and gamble on plays like coining out the Whirling Zap-o-matic. I do try to keep Crackle and Lava Burst as finishers, but sometimes you need them to clear taunts. Trading tends to be good if it allows you to protect higher amounts of damage on the board for next turn (trading a Leper Gnome or cheap mech to protect a Zappo or Flametongue Totem. Trading vs. some decks like zoo or secretdin is useless after the opening moves as they out-do you at board control. Rockbiter Weaponing a Knife Juggler I feel is a good play though.
I do not run Loatheb as I feel it's too slow. The deck already has 5 finisher cards in there, on top of two Jeeves. Finding any of those cards in your opening hand really lowers your chances. But feel free to try and let me know!
Going to give this a try :)
Let me know how it works out :)
I like this deck, just like you said whether you win or lose the games usually go pretty fast so you can continue climbing ladder. I put in a charged hammer just to try it for fun and cut a Jeeves. But so far it's going good :)
