Today is the release of The Grand Tournament and earlier I achieved Legend with my Dragon Mage Deck (Decklist & Guide: Here). After getting Legend, I decided to try my hand at a few new and old strategies. My most recent one being Token Druid. I've always loved the style a Token deck plays out and with a couple new tools given to Druid, I thought to give it a shot once again.
So far with this decklist I am 8-0 and have climbed from Legend #900s to #292.
Here is a brief breakdown of mulligans and playstyle:
Vs Aggro -
Opening Hands - 1x Innervate, 2x Living Roots, 2x Wrath, 2x Darnassus Aspirant, 1x Power of the Wild, 1x Shade of Naxxramas, (If Innervate and/or Darnassus Aspirant = Yes) 1x Keeper of the Grove 1x Violet Teache
For the most part you want to be the aggressor, but make profitable/valuable trades when given the option. You need to make sure you're keeping a balance between Face Damage and Trading because Mid to Late game you have finishers (Combo Pieces) that need to end it all. A rule of thumb being, let your bigger minions worry about the face or protect your little minions to keep going face.
Vs Midrange & Combo -
Opening Hands - 2x Innervate, 1x Wrath, 2x Darnassus Aspirant,1x Wrath, 1x Living Roots (if Hero Power doesn't kill them), 1x Power of the Wild, 2x Shade of Naxxramas, 1x Violet Teacher
Establish an early board presence and start in on the face damage grind. When an enemy minion poses a threat, kill it with efficiency and value (if possible). You need to make less trades in this matchup since you are a faster Midrange deck most of the time. Don't be afraid to Hero Power a minion if it needs one point of damage left to kill it if it means protecting one of your minions from dying for a turn. If there is no clear use for Innervate, save it for Violet Teacher value.
Vs Control -
Opening Hands - 2x Innervate, 2x Living Roots, 2x Darnassus Aspirant, 1x Wrath, 2x Power of the Wild, 2x Shade of Naxxramas, 1x Violet Teacher, (If Innervate = Yes) 1x Druid of the Claw or 1x Azure Drake
Establish an early board presence and start in on the race for Face Damage. Try to save your Keepers for Taunts or typical silence Targets (Nerubian Egg, Twilight Drake, Sylvanas, etc...). Make some trades here and there to protect other minions and prevent death, but for the most part you need to keep being aggressive and setup for combo turns to kill your opponent.

I have also just finished up a series of guides to help newer or budget players develop decks that can be purchased for under 2,000 Dust each (also Requires Naxxramas Unlocked) and compete with the current Meta enough to help you achieve your goal of High Ranks or evenLegend.

Here's to hoping this deck/guide is in some way beneficial to your Grinding Experience! The deck has performed extremely well for me and won games I thought were not possible to do so.

this deck is absolutely amazing! very high win rate so far, only thing it struggles with are facehunter cancer decks with thei unleash the hounds. and as you know we always have lot's of minions on the board so we cando combo faster. any idea how to counter face hunters and unleash the hounds?
I had a stunning winrate without the ancients of lore.I dont have any so replaced them with an ancient of war and a healbot to try to counter face decks, but at rank 6 i started to face a lot of Secret Paladins so I replaced the healbot for a kaezan mystic. Most of the time the agro decks surrender when i drop the ancient of war.(but after trading my tokens eficiently and hoping they burned all their removal with the darnasus aspirants, shades or dr.boom.
Hope this help you.
Get demolished by all the paladin cancer running around
Add a kaezan mystic. It worked for me
Love the deck, but how to beat Dragon Priest and Control Priest? And what about Silver HandRegent in this deck?
How to deal with secret paladin? And what do you think about adding Big Game Hunter ? I've been facing so many Dr. Boom
Pretty much mulligan for Living Roots , Wrath , Swipe , Power of the Wild , and/or Darnassus aspirant . Get as much tempo as early as possible and try to activate the secrets one by one
So many decks have Dr Boom, and it's the Legendary I want the most! :(
What can I sub him for?
They are must haves in most decks :)
One day when I can spare 1600 dust, i'll craft Dr Boom... I just find more value in getting a few epics & rares as apposed to 1 legendary.
*Sigh*
this deck took me from rank 16 to rank 5! I know that's not a huge deal for most of you, but is the farthest I ever reached in ladder.
THANK YOU!
Can I use Druid of the Flame instead of Shade of Naxxramas?
What does anybody think about replacing something in this for Gormok the Impaler? Just opened that and it seems legit with amount of tokens on the board.
He is better for Arena or Brawl games but he could be fun in Token but I think it's rare to have 4 minions in ladder matches though. Maybe with a lucky Haunted Creeper so you have to look at the vanilla stats of this card: not that impressive, the combo is good nevertheless.
been wanting to play this for a while and i got lucky and pulled a force of nature out of some packs today. tried it a couple matches (tempo mage, midrange paladin) and so far it seems like a beast of a deck. it has a solid early game and the winning condition is SUPER BROKE.
I used to play Velen Priest just for the fun of doing 20-24 dmg and stealing games but that takes turn 8/9/10 and a thaurissan maybe, and 3 cards.
This is just a turn 9 thing that requires 2 cards. Its crazy.
Just thought I'd post to say I love this deck, I posted some gameplay footage on my youtube channel if you would like to check it out, climbing from Rank 9 to 8.

And how good is the deck vs priest dragon deck? Just wondering
don't make videos on other people's deck if you're not a good player and are going to miss lethal, like you did at 4:50. makes the deck look bad to the untrained player. Also, don't agree with many of your plays, and seeing that you're only rank 9 and the title says it's a "legend"-deck, maybe you shouldn't link non-legend footage. Maybe you've reached legend in these last 4 hours, but then please record another video, not missing lethal please...
what addon are you using in that video? link?
google hearthstone deck tracker. it is awesome!
