10x legend player here who got very bored with meta and try-harding to get to legend.
I took the challenge of getting to legend with only shaman this season. I was stuck in rank 2 for a long time and fell from rank 1 to 4 many times. I played every single shaman deck you can imagine. Midrange, Violet Teacher, Mech, Yolo/Burst, Ancestral Healing(Black Knight/Injured Blademaster combo), Malygos, Murloc shaman and in the end the one with the highest (71%) win rate was a modified version of Hotform's Bloodlust Shaman. The main differences are that I swapped out the feral spirit's for deathlords. In my opinion, feral spirits are straight up garbage right now. Simply way outdated and just garbage taunts even though people still swear by it. Feral spirits are only good good against Control Warrior/Druid matchups and it's not worth having it in your deck for just those matchups.
Against eboladin, feral spirits get consecrated next turn or die to their board while reducing your tempo/mana next turn. Simply garbage.
Feral spirits also give more fuel to hunter's knife juggler+unleash combo. Or just die to their board/one bow charge, etc. It literally is not worth it. In fact Blizzard should remove overload all together to make it even viable for Shaman. However let's save that discussion for another story.
This deck gets really strong mid-game, so it is important to stop early aggression with two deathlords. If RNG does not love you, always mulligan for flametongue, haunted creeper, zombie chow so that you can start controlling the board. ((((Only applies to aggro))))
Sometimes against matchup's like control priest or control warrior, you do not want to mulligan for deathlords obviously or even if you have it in your hand, don't play it unless you are sure they don't have removal. As sometimes it will end your game right there if you don't have a hex to follow up their removal.
Okay as promised here is the Mulligan guide:
vs Aggro(Paladin/Hunter) : Deathlord, Deathlord, Deathlord, and another Deathlord.
Haunted Creeper, Flametongue, Zombie Chow, 1 Lightning Storm, Earth Shock, Rockbiter Weapon.Nerubian Egg is also good if you have either flametongue or rockbiter to help kill their minion.
vs Mage(Tempo/Mech) : Zombie Chow(Don't play it turn 1, save it for mirror entity), Haunted Creeper, Flametongue Totem, Rockbiter Weapon, Nerubian Egg. Early game/board control is very important in this matchup.
vs Warrior(Patron/Control): Piloted Shredder.Nerubian Egg, Haunted Creeper,Flametongue Totem. If you are facing lots of warrior, and less aggro on ladder, you can swap out a zombie chow for another Piloted Shredder. If you end up being unlucky and getting Deathlord in your hand, play it only when you have hex to follow up whatever comes out against Control Warrior. If Patron, you can yolo it early game and get one of their combo cards to remove instead of having deathlord up turn 8.
vs Priest : Piloted Shredder, Hex, Flametongue totem, Neurbian Egg, Crackle, Mana Tide Totem. A lot of priest lately have been playing Deathlords. This already is a hard matchup and deathlord is hard to remove for shamans. It feels bad hexing a deathlord but I found it good to use it early instead of letting them control the board. Some priests are not minion heavy early game and you can take advantage of that with mana tide. And whatever you do, do not mulligan for a deathlord obviously. Obviously if you end up playing deathlord, try to keep deathlord's attack 4 with flametongue next to him to avoid it getting dealt with and even hinder their plays.
vs Rogue: Piloted Shredder, Haunted Creeper, Nerubian Egg, Flametongue Totem, Deathlord.
You want sticky minions against this matchup. Try to bait them to waste their blade flurry early so that once two are gone, you can go all in on the board. Don't over-commit your board unless their flurries are gone/no cards in hand. You can also mulligan for a mana tide and have them waste removal on it, if that is the game you want to play against this matchup. Deathlord is not a big factor if it gets killed early game since they have to use a lot of removal and at worst a Loatheb/Piloted Shredder pops out.
vs Warlock(Handlock/Zoo) : I tend to mulligan as if it is zoo, but the card that counters both decks tends to be Earth Shock for Drake/Nerubian Egg value. Haunted Creeper, Nerubian Egg, Flametongue Totem, Piloted Shredder, Rockbiter Weapon, Lightning Storm.
vs Shaman(Mech/Mid-Range) : DEATHLORDS. Most opponents don't expect this and it is amazing as a totem killer, early board control if they don't hex it. Neurbian Egg, Flametongue Totem, Haunted Creeper, Rockbiter Weapon, and ZOMBIE CHOW. And possibly Lightning Storm.
vs Druid(Ramp) : Piloted Shredder, Haunted Creeper, Flametongue Totem, Nerubian Egg.
Optional Cards: Swap in Zombie Chow for another Piloted Shredder if you need more pressure, and facing less aggro. Loatheb, Argent Squire, Abusive Sergeant, Healbot if when your rushing aggro, that extra 8 heal would have won you the game and you are unlucky and cant draw your zombie chow, 2 deathlords, lightning storms(or facing lots of Freeze mage). If you guys have any other things to add, please comment below. Always open to making it better.
Hardest Matchup: Priest, but thankfully there is not many priests on ladder at the moment. 60% of the priests I face on ladder, tended to have deathlord on turn 3 and if you don't have a hex in your hand or board to kill it, they tend to start to take huge control. Not only that but shadow word pain for our deathlords, or even stealing our deathlord with Cabal/Thoughtsteal sucks.

P.S. Ever since sharing this decklist with Hotform on stream and posting it on Hearthpwn : Hotform, JustSaiyan, and Gaara have added double deathlords to their Shaman list. =] If you find anymore streamers adopting double deathlords let me know!
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it. I may have to test out Neptulon instead of Boom.
Cover wonderful idea ! Crazy people are running the zombie Chows Bloodmage 10 001 Bloodlust . I got my 60 shaman gold , giving this test thanks to !
Really good at rank 10
Shit-tier deck. Dropped from rank 16 down to 18 with no stars on a losing streak against warriors/mages/locks/hunters. Not recommended.
Rank 9 here with 8 wins consecutive Wins.
I love how this is also a newly created fresh account just like Overheat268. Hi DarkArchon21 , waves =]
just chill out and let people voice their opinions who cares if they have a fake account? Just let them continue to act immaturely.
yeah its a free country and i love hearing opinions. Just a little sad that he has to create a fake account to upvote his own posts.
Yeah not very good deck.
No idea why you think Deathlord is good. It's trash. Every deck has silence if they want to bypass him and his 2 attack really doesn't let him kill much of anything. Most rushy decks will just buff a guy into him and then gain even MORE tempo on you.
Hunter and paladin also run hunter's mark and equality, which can instantly lose you the game with your garbage deathlord. 60%+ of the minions they can get are usually instant losses early on, when you actually want to play deathlord.
Late game he does nothing as people just silence him and smash your face.
Deathlord remains champion of the garbage cards.
It even makes your deck weaker against its only good matchups. What trash.
LOL loving the hate bro. Let me explain....if you even play at high ranked you would already know the answer.
1. If they silence it, big deal??? Even better. I can use defender of argus to set up a better wall on a silenced deathlord and not worry about a minion coming out and still use my deathlord to clear his minions.
2. The 2 attack kills if not most of their early aggro minions.
3.The aggro decks don't have big minions that come out from buffing a guy into my deathlords. At worst case was a Leeroy but as I said before its 1/40 games in which that happens in aggro decks on high ranked. 90% of the time against aggro its a 2drop that comes out.
4. Face hunter doesn't run hunter's mark and same with Aggro Pally not running Equality. Both these aggro decks run owl. ONLY Midrange Hunter & Pally run Hunter's mark and equality. If you play at all in high ranked and not rank 20, you already know from their starting hand, what they are playing and to play around it.
Please make more valid arguments before you try to argue with rank 22/PVE playstyle.
They silence it the turn they kill you.
Yeah.
This makes deathlord a completely dead card against every single deck in the game unless you happen to play him turn 2-3 against an aggro deck that also has no answer AND doesn't get lucky from the deathlord trigger.
Good luck with that.
they silence any other taunts in any other game the turn they kill you if they have owl.....lol
Yep except none of those other taunts just instantly make you lose against decks other than face hunter and aggro pally.
Ever since sharing my list, Hotform, Gaara, and JustSayian have both added double deathlords in their Shaman List. Your entitled to have your opinion =]
Insta-lose only if you are bad enough to play it against a priest/war with no hex to follow up. Also your point doesn't make sense as most priests are running deathlords.
But yes, during my ladder climb I have insta-lost sometimes due to deathlord popping out Boom or some huge minion for enemy. But it won me way more games than lost.
Yeah I see gaara's dragon shaman deck. Seems like a fixed version of yours lol.
Even then I'm going to spots where he plays deathlord and half the time it just backfires horribly. One game it makes dr. boom. One game makes a shredder. Another it makes a kor kron elite... I mean.. yah one time it made a leper gnome. Wow.. That game, feral spirits would have just been better anyway as he cleared the deathlord with a 6/2 + consecration.
Well anyway enjoy your lording.
Wrong. :) You'll learn, though. That's what's fun about this game.
Lost 4 rank with this deck, no thank you
Creating fake accounts -hahaha
What a piece of shit deck, played against Priest, was utterly destroyed.
I keep getting downvoted to oblivion but it still stands that it's a sub-par deck list. The one i posted a couple days back is still going strong, am around 18W 3L ATM...Win streaked basically the whole way to Rank 7 where am at currently. Volatility's deck get's countered way to hard with current meta and it's not built to fight most common decks is the issue here, plus doesn't have optimized synergy.
ATM about 70-80% of the Meta your going to encounter
1. Face Hunter 2. Patron or Control Warrior 3. Aggro Warlock
So your Shaman deck should be designed to directly counter these common match ups to have consistent match ups with the win % chance in your favor.
So to point out the issues....Will start with Deathlord, which is very useless against all 3 of these common match ups...Face Hunter will Mark it down too 1 health, Warrior with Excute it all day everyday and Aggro will punch threw it with ease by Power Overwhelming or stacked buff combos. The reason why Feral Spirit is superior is because the draw back isn't as severe, and it allows you too combo it better by dropping a Dire Wolf/Flame Tongue in between and just for token value which is overall what your trying to do.
Second is Bloodmage Thalnos, it's a useless addition to the deck. There is almost no situation where you should be that far behind in the early game since your rush yourself and have loads of effective trading/removal mechanics and getting a Spell damage totem normally isn't to hard or you drop a Drake.
Third is having 2 Zombie Chows...The chance of you drawing both early game is extremely slim, there is a reason why 95% of decks that run a Zombie will have only one. This is just clumsy deck building and too counter productive since your a aggro deck yourself.
4th is Dr Boom...Loads of decks run BGH and that's all this card serves as, is giving the opponents BGH value since it's the only attack minion in the deck that's over 7...Makes zero sense to do this. If you only have the 1 over 7 attack it's best to cut it so you have zero BGH targets in the deck, it will turn into more value more often since most of the time it will end up being 7 mana for 2 boom bots.
5th is the 2 Hexs...Against Patron Warrior, face hunter and aggro warlock which is most of what youll see it's a absolute dead card and will hurt more then it saves. It's just tempo loss most of the time. Plus you already have effective trading mechanics, or should anyway. This deck is a little lacking with no Knife Jugglers or Dire Wolves which also makes no sense since the synergy is insane.
That's basically about it...The rest of the deck is acceptable.
Another thing worth of note and what i noticed on this site is the decks that get the most views/up votes is the people that really put a lot of effort into explaining and how-to guides on the deck. Which is awesome and helpful but that doesn't mean the deck itself is that good or the best you could be using. There is a load of decks on this site with insane rating and there trash decks but explained well.
Don't be fooled, his deck is sub par crap. before you down vote to shit actually go and try the deck i posted...You will find it's better and you win more. I my not get style or flashy explanation points but i do post a hell of a deck.
