My Name is Touretto, I am playing on EU and I have obtained Legend rank every Season since S2 + reached/finished Top 100 couple of times. This is the Paladin list I used this season to reach Legend rank 7 on EU so far.
This list is doing very well for me in a meta that is dominated by Patron Warrior, Zoo, Midrange Hunter, Handlock and Tempo Mage.
Proof
Mulligans ( common Matchups)
Zoo /Midrange Hunter: obviously aim for an early curve with Minibot, Muster for battle (Tier 1 picks), Juggler, owl are kept too.
Patron Warrior : early pressure can be nice but is not always key to win the MU , curving well into midgame and having answers ready for their keyturns is way more important. Keep Truesilver, Harrison.
Handlock : early pressure is important but if u get bgh, owl, equality in your mulligan its nice to keep those( not all at the same time tough :P)
Tempomage : early boardpresence is key to win that MU so mulligan accordingly. always fight for board in early stages, greedy trades are not necessary at all.
Some card choices :
I think this card is insane for tempo trades midgame and survival in later stages of the game. U will not keep it in your starting hand tough most of the time (probably fine if u have a minibot but beside that toss it)
The 6 drop beside Sylvanas. Havent played him for a long time in this list but then subbed him in for the second Zombie Chow and I have to say he is doing wonders for me. Tirion /LoH or Quartermaster + Muster Combo on turn 7.
And because everyone is afraid of The russian people will do awkward stuff to remove him ASAP sometimes.
Because the combo is still strong and wins u games :D But only one copy as u already have many tech 5-drops.
Harrison and Loatheb are usually not both included but I dont want to miss one of those dudes, because either of them can break certain Matchups ( Loatheb and Harrison both strong vs Patron for example).
Any other card should be pretty stable in midrange Paladin-Archetype so I wont write anything about how good they are :)
Have fun with the deck, Upvote if u win a lot !:D
Really like palladin and am wanting to try midrange as soon as i craft quartermaster.
Do you think [card]Emperor Thaurissan [/card] for The Black Knight is a fine trade? I think that could help a lot vs Druids and all the Sludge Belchers running around.
Currently Rank 7 from Rank 10 with this deck.. 5-0 for now.. I replaced Harrison Jones with a Kezan Mystic.. Been seeing a lot of Flamewalker mages and Hunters running 2-3 secrets and huge drop in Warriors of any kind.. The star of this deck early game is undoubtedly Coghammer.. Helped me win 2 of those games.. Touretto.. Do u see this deck viable until the next big expansion?
what to replace sylvanas and harrison for?
Great deck, it's take me from Rank 15 all the way down to Rank 6 in just a couple of days. I'd say it's biggest weaknesses currently are against face hunters and freeze mages, not to mention the omnipotent patron warriors... That said, it still manages to hold it's own against these decks about half the time.
Hey guys! I am having a lot of fun with this deck.. and I decided to share with you an uncut version of my simple play-through.. It's not much, but does kind of give you an insight into this deck. You should definitely invest your mana to craft it, it's worth it! Anyways, write me up if you have any questions, and in the video skip to Game 4, it's against a mage and it has an amazing finish! :) Huge props to Tauretto for sharing this deck with us! Upvote
lay on hands is used in virtually every pali deck, I would do that one first.
I love The russian. He's great!
I didnt have
nothing new, but always solid
RIP grammar. Fair points, though. I think adding Acidic Swamp Ooze would have a nice effect, similar to Harrison Jones, considering against many matchups you'd only draw one or two cards form him anyway (ex. responding to Death's Bite). Since hes a tech card you might want to use a different type of tech, likeThe Black Knight or something like that.
Great deck! Solid
How do you feel about -Harrison and adding a cult master because i often feel like i am not facing that many weapon based classes and lack draw
I'm running a similar deck, but I've teched in a Crazed Alchemist (it has some insane value in matches where deathlord/malygos/ysera etc is expected. You can also combo it with Aldor Peacekeeper on big minion for a 1hp clear).
Also teched in 1 Solemn Vigil, basically to help me cycle my deck faster vs aggro to find taunt/heal or whatever.
It's a solid deck tho.
Doing so well against a meta with Grim Patron in top 10 legend.. with double muster and one equality.. sure.
I've gotta say, Emperor Thaurissan is doing work for me in this deck. I keep facing mill rogues and I've been able to drop and get 2-3 turns of cost reduction which has allowed me to just dump my hand and stay ahead of the rogue. Working well so far thanks!
This is not a control deck. Paladin cannot make control work since it does not have enough removal tools. This is midrange with Tirion as the biggest card. A control deck would have at least two 8 mana finishers, maybe 9 mana Ysera or Nefarian, like Dragon Warrior.
Secondly this is not his idea at all. This is literally the midrange paladin that was refined when GvG was released. It's paladin's only good deck. The purpose is to stuff a ton of cheap minions to fight aggro decks in the first three turns, and when they run out of steam, start hitting them in the face and win. It usually loses to control because that's what midrange does: it loses to control because it doesn't have high damage, and it lacks the big finishers to handle the opposing control deck's finishers.
The only reason this deck does well against Control Warriors is because of Harrison Jones, and the nature of the Paladin Hero power (creating minions infinitely which warrior has to spend cards to deal with).
"works well in a meta dominated by patron warrior and zoo" , now that's a big lie. So you are telling me that this deck works well against the decks that 80% winrate vs paladin? And it's not like this paladin has some special secret tech against those decks, it's just the usual thing. You would never get to #7 by facing only zoo and patron. I'm sure you just ran into a lot of handlocks and control warriors on the way.
Best replacement for Harrison?
Black Knight, Kezan, mind control tech, other zombie chow
I think a second Quartermaster, Cult Master, or any Master card can be a decent replacement.
