Hi all!
This is the current iteration of giants mage I've been palying! It's a kind of hybrid between the Salty Control Mage and Hyped's giants mage from GvG.
As always, if this guide get attention, I'll go more into detail with a write-up!
what can i replace with emperor?
Whichever legendary you think is least useful.
Any Antonidas replacement? Pyroblast maybe?
You could try Pyroblast, but there's something to be said for Dr. Boom as well, or maybe Thaurissan.
Awesome. What did you remove for the Emperor? Has it worked well for you in ranked? TIA
Dropping Sylvanas for Emperor is a pretty good idea I think, I don't have BRM yet so I don't have him, but I'm guessing he subbed out Sylv for Emperor. He also has Kezan, not sure on the sub there though.
Echo of Medivh Emperor Thaurissan that game also I -1 Mechanical Yeti for +1 Kezan Mystic currently rank 3 on ladder
Hi! Really interesting deck and i wanna try this, but i miss Sylvanas and Rag. What do you think about replace them with Thaurisan and KT?
I honestly believe that the decklist is very, very flexible! Thaurisan should be crazy in this deck, definitely put him in. KT might work as a Rag replacement, but you could also try Dr. Balanced, Ysera, Troggzor or any other finisher.
Thanks for the reply! Yes, I forgot about Dr. Boom, I guess it will be the best replacement to Ragnaros, than Kel'Thuzad.
Are you planning to put emporer thaurisan in the deck? I have found sylvanas to be a bit slow sometimes.
Yes! I simply haven't bought Black Rock yet, but its only a matter of time. I'm certainly going to miss sylvanas (stole a Tirion yesterday by playing sylvavas and fireballing her) but Duplicating Thaurissan sounds just a teeny tiny bit OP
How many cards do you normally have in hand around turn 6-8? I only ask because it seems a bit faster than my echo like a lot, and I'm wondering. When do you tend to take the board or start fighting for it? Any replacements for mech yeti or are his spare parts and board presence necessary?
I like the mech yetis a lot, they provide a strong duplicate/echo target and as you said, the spare parts can be pretty crazy with Antonidas.
Overall, the number of cards in my hand varies greatly, mostly due to the matchup and whatever was in hand earlier on. I guess I don't really have a straight answer. I'd be inclined to say that I average around 5 cards, but some games I had to dump my hand early and have nothing around that time where as other games I'll have gotten strong duplicates off and have an almost full hand.
Could try azure drake maybe just one of. To help keep the hand up in the late stages. I was testing a version of it and was having trouble with the 2 drop and 3 drop. But its hard to mess with the secrets or any other cards in the deck. I'll try some things and get back to you.
Thanks! The deck is very much a work in progress, I'd love to hear what you experiment with and how it goes! Always looking to improve the deck.
Just started playing ranked (for this season) today! Will let you know in a few days!
Illuminator creates a sort-of pseudo threat: they have to kill it or they know you're going to heal back to high HP. Also brings the curve down just a little bit, which is important to ensure that you have a play as often as possible. I also find that Illuminator usually stays alive for at least a turn, meaning that her healing costs less mana and has an arguably better body than Healbot, while healing for the same amount. If your opponent does remove her the first turn she comes out, it usually meant they were spending resources which is always good. If you're more comfortable with Healbot then definitely go for it! I think the deck is very flexible, there will likely be a large sideboard section.
Attention!
