So, this is the deck I made it to legend with, 30 minutes before the end of season (phew). I constructed it right after pulling out Vol'jin from an arena pack, and tweaked it to perfection after getting stuck at rank 3-4 when I noticed I crush aggro but struggle against control. It has a winrate of 59%, with the high of 84% against Hunter, and low of 25% against oil Rogue, where only Ragnaros can save you due to his resistance to Sap and aoe.
Now, what makes this deck simple, yet effective? It's not reliant on combos, with the exception of Auchenai Circle. It's focused on straight up effective trades with beefy value minions, buffs and heals, and a monstrous late game which you reach almost every time, and people will have used their removals on your buffed up minions earlier, such as 4/9 Zombie Chow, 5/9 Sen'jin Shieldmasta or 5/8 Dark Cultist. I even had a 1/5 Northshire Cleric Executed, but I have won games without having to draw a single cleric due to the higher than usual curve, constant use of hero power, and 2 Thoughtsteals.
Also, the deck is not reactive and lacks many priest staples. No Shadow Madness, Cabal Shadow Priest, Shrinkmeister, Recombobulator, Wild Pyromancer, Injured Blademaster, Antique Healbot or anything of that sort. That means you have a play every turn, and never sit with 8 cards in hand and empty board. The only purely reactive piece is Mind Control, which is pretty self explanatory, but it's often useful to take your stolen Rag/Ysera back when the oponent has Sylvanas Windrunner. And don't forget to Shadow Word: Death your own Sylvanas Windrunner for a second pseudo mind-control. Have fun. I'll switch back to Oil Rogue if this becomes popular by any chance :)
Edit 1: Removed Harrison Jones and Loatheb in favor of 2x Thoughtsteal. Reasoning: This deck beats Hunter, Paladin and Warrior even without Harrison, and Rogue is near impossible even with both cards played on curve. It will make the deck a bit cheaper, more fun (everyone loves Thoughtsteal, right?), and hopefully better overall against most classes.
Any replacement for Ragnaros?
Hey man! Do you have any suitable replacements for the legendaries? I only have Voljin.
Nope, they're all important. When I played the deck with Injured blademasters I often ran out of steam, it needs all those lategame monsters.
At the lower ranks with it now ... it just eats aggro alive to the point of feeling sorry for that one mech shaman that didn't concede. Solid against "Imperial" fast druid. Haven't faced any rogues yet :'( ==> 100% winrate so far. Big thumbs up ;-)
Edit: Swapped a thoughtsteal for Emperor !
Just tried this deck out and it was a lot of fun to play. Even had a guy concede on his 3rd turn after i played a cleric into coin +velen's chosen lol
Thank you for sharing! Nice deck. I like it.
yeah because hes broken as fuck
Lightbomb. Anyway I think the deck will be no good from now on, Thaurissan decks are too op, especially Druid.
Two questions:
Why two Holy Novas? I know most decks just run 1, especially with the bad Auchenai synergy.
Why Annoy-o-tron? Is it added specifically to slow aggro? I can see a velen's chosen on an annoy-o-tron being pretty good, but it still seems odd in this deck to me.
Anyway, I'm going to give this deck a try. :)
Holy Nova is invaluable against Hunter and Paladin, and it has synergy with Velen's Chosen for 3 dmg aoe against those pesky 3 hp creatures. It also helps to keep your buffed minions healthy, and is a good combo with Northshire Cleric for some draws. Oh and it's a godly combo with Vol'jin on turn 10, especially against Cenarius. Annoyotron is auto win against face hunter when in opening hand, and also great against warrior, rogue and druid to prevent lethal combos. Also he's generally good when the enemy has just one big creature on board.
I've been playing around with this deck figuring out if I can tweak it to my style.
What are your thoughts on Injured Blademaster & Resurrect?
Forgot to say I love this deck! hah
It is a great combo when pulled off but that's new 4 cards and I don't know what I'd replace. Probably the Thoughtsteals because I noticed they're too slow against all the pressure. I'm playing with Emperor now, he's good when hidden behind Senjin or Annoyotron and can discount Mind Control by 2 mana for example.
What did you take out for the Emperor?
Thoughtsteal, but I think the deck needs more changes to keep up with the BRM meta.
