After receiving so many views and likes, I will keep my promise and make a little guide to the deck, but first off I just want to thank you guys and hope you're enjoying the deck! :)
So, the main idea of the deck is control the board with sticky minions like Piloted Shredder and Piloted Sky Golem until the late game (turn 9), where you play Alexstrasza and take them down to 15 hp. After that you'll just have to use things like Gorehowl, Grommash Hellscream, Ragnaros the Firelord or Dr. Boom.
Since the deck doesn't have that many different minions, you want to curve out nicely so you always have something to play on the upcoming turns. Usually, playing a Zombie Chow on turn 1 is great. you also want to keep a Fiery War Axe in your starting hand to deal with early pressure. to then follow up with a Bloodsail Raider making it a 5-3, is awesome for poking your opponent down, or making them use up important removal. Don't forget, the deck has some great cards, so having no removal left will make them lose, especially if you get Kel'Thuzad out there =) Acolyte of Pain and Piloted Shredder are also good early keeps to keep you in the game.
Having alot of weapons makes the deck weak to weapon removal, like Acidic Swamp Ooze aswell as Harrison Jones. To counter this, try to always play your weaker weapons first (bating out weapon removal) and try having only 1 stack of the weapon when you end your turn. Don't use both Upgrade!s and Captain Greenskin's battlecry on the same weapon and turn, having a massive weapon, with alot of charges, to only have it removed the turn after :( The best Weapon to upgrade is obviously Gorehowl for the huge face damage :D
Sometimes you will have to trade minions with your weapons, which is perfectly fine! Therefor the deck has alot of armor-ups (aside from the heropower), to make it more viable. As the icing on the cake, you also have one Shield Slam in case you should stack up some armor :)
So to the late game and winning part: Most of the late game minions play themselves. Just drop them mana efficiently. Play Captain Greenskin when you have a weapon up. Play Loatheb if you're expecting (spell) rain, or just drop it as a 5-drop against less spelly classes. Iron Juggernaut can be played before Alexstrasza, since it's not that likely that the bomb will be drawn in the next couple of turns. If you're feeling unlucky, you can just play Piloted Sky Golem or Shieldmaiden as a 6-drop instead :) Next up will be the best 7-drop in the game - Dr. Boom, followed by Ragnaros the Firelord. You should only play Kel'Thuzad if you can get some trading value, or as a last resort.
Once again, Thank you for checking out my deck and i wish the best of luck and fun. If you have any questions or suggestions, just type them below and i'll answer them as soon as possible :)
Love the idé but it does not work in the current meta at rank 15-10. This deck have a way to bad early game curve, so you are getting rushed down by all the rush decks out there, and you won't be able to do 1 shit about it, unless you get the perfect draw. I cant seem to find any suitable decks where this deck might have an advantage, the curve is just to draw based.
To be honest this deck sucks against any aggro deck. and 90% of the meta is agro or similar.
Yeah, so might be the case. haven't updated the deck in a while, so not adapted to the current meta. I'm not playing that much at the moment, but if you have some suggenstion on changes to the deck, to make it more resistant to aggro decks, feel free to reply and i'll look in to it :)
Hard to do to be honest, If I begin to play to much with it, i end up with a normal Control deck. I have no idea how to make this fit the agro heavy meta.
Okut HAHA Legendaries have nothing to do with your ranks. it is just a matter of how much you play, and how good you are to plan ahead. But i Can tell you something rank 10 is top 11%.
Thank you for the deck im enjoying a it so much
although the changes i made is that i replaced upgrade for execute since i need some hard removal
commanding shout has so much potential! XD
Glad you like it mate :)
I've been Playing this deck and it litteraly makes no sense to me xD What is the point with this deck? is it aggro or control?
It is a tempo deck.
love the idea of the deck, refreshing to see something other than the stereotypical control warrior. i'm amazed at how much i can do without Execute and how much Upgrade! adds to the value of the deck. One game I was swinging with the same Death's Bite 4 times because I slapped 2 upgrades on it. And Bloodsail Raider adds so much value for so little mana because it's removal bait - most of the time I couldn't care if she dies because the opponent will spend a Wrath, Hex, etc.
i'm still trying to tweak as i go along though. like a previous poster said, Iron Juggernaut or Kel'Thuzad doesn't make much sense in this deck. especially in a weapons deck where you're not very concerned with trying to build a board early to mid game, and warriors in general have trouble keeping the board against most classes anyways until the late late game. IJ seems like a bit of a gamble to me without some sort of recycling mechanism like Youthful Brewmaster to ensure you can get multiple copies of it into the opponent's deck. imo IJ is something you need to specifically build your deck (e.g. as a mill deck) around rather than just slotting it in to every warrior deck like it belongs, because it doesn't. so anyways, i replaced those two with Crush and Sylvanas Windrunner instead. Probably will slot Sylvanas in and out with The Black Knight depending on how my ladder climb goes.
in any case, some good synergies you got there and it got me back into playing warrior decks again :)
Great to hear you like it! you've got some great ideas going :)
I know Captain Greenskin is not really replacable....but since I do not have him (never saw much use crafting him)...maybe Harrsion instead ? Will the deck still work without captain ?
The deck sure will work! you're supposed to tune the deck so it fits your play style or works with the cards you have. Harrison Jones is a great card to play, especially with all the oil rogues on ladder. GL & HF :)
I like the idea of this deck, but it needs some refinement. I tested the version with two Acolyte of Pain and one Zombie Chow.
I removed Kel'Thuzad and Iron Juggernaut as they don't fit the overall deck and are slow cards. I added The Black Knight and Crush, and the deck is performing well. You need to bypass taunts and other strong minions and these cards fit the bill. I never believed that warrior could be played without Execute, but I don't miss it at all. Also Commanding Shout is performing very well for me.
Great to hear, mate! Some cards are not perfect in the deck, but I really like Kel'Thuzad and i think Iron Juggernaut should be played in more warrior decks :)
I have been laddering rather quickly Ranks 16 to 10. I'm a rank 2 player.
the changes I made were to add a second acolyte and a geddon (or abomination to lower the curve. Still testing)
the cards I omitted for this are Kel thusad (he seemed to be overkill) and iron juggernaut. I felt the curve of the entire deck needed lowering for where I am on the ladder. I may even lower it more with a zombie chow.
(These changes are from the original version)
otherwise there is something about this deck that is well suited for the meTa. I basically choose one of two paths: either remove remove remove until I can get a big minion to stick or I do the opposite and go face depending on how many weapons I start with and how aggro my opponent is.
Iron juggernaut doesn't make sense here since this deck is not built for super late game. you can replace it with black knight or harrison or an early minion.
If you feel the deck needs Execute, you can replace an Upgrade! for it. The deck pretty much plays itself, dropping your minions on curve and mulligan aggressively for low drops. Instead of removal spells, you either trade with your weapons or your minions efficiently. Hope that helps :)
I've not been having any time for serious ladder climbing :( Hopefully, someone who has more time will reply, especially if the reach legend :)
i think you should replace the 2xLeper Gnome with 2xZombie Chow... who cares about their deathrattles if you play Alexstrasza? it's just better stats... I added The Black Knight over a Piloted Sky Golem cause with only 1 shield slam you need to pass taunts... i think it helps a lot vs druids... Fun deck btw! thanks for sharing!
Yeah, the replacement is about to be real :D I wouldn't substitue a Piloted Sky Golem for The Black Knight though, since Black Knight is very situational and has worse stats, not to mention no awesome deathrattle. Instead i would replace maybe an Upgrade! for an Execute or a Shield Slam. Whichever you prefer. I could consider replacing a Piloted Sky Golem for Sylvanas Windrunner. The difference between the two I would say is that Sky Golem is good to drop on an empty board, and Sylvanas, on a more populated one. In case of silience, they're about the same :)
