Freeze Mage
"The end is coming" - Doomsayer
Hello! I'm James1. I have achieved legend 7 times with Freeze Mage including season 10, 15,16, 17, 18 , 19 and 37. Proof in spoiler Below. The list you see now is the standard Freeze. Most people including myself thought this deck would be dead with the rotation of standard, however its really good right now.

The Guide
A cold welcome to newcomers of Freeze Mage. I would suggest start studying LaughingHS- if you are unsure how to play the deck. In the spoiler below is a list of streamers wh
Card Replacements
Alexstrasza : sorry there is no replacement for this card
Archmage Antonidas : If you would like to play this card remove a Forgotten Torch
Bloodmage Thalnos : 5th freeze spell like Cone of Cold is a excellent replacement. Lots of people seem to recommend Kobold Geomancer, however kobold is not very flexible, so I don't recommend it.
Match Up Guide/ Mulligan
Mulligan is really important in Freeze Mage. You dont want any secrets, Alexstrasza or Archmage Antonidas in your opening hand. The one card that is a 100% keep all the time is Arcanologist, Loot Hoarder and Acolyte of Pain.
In general aim to get this kinda of hand. This hand is completely nuts.
In general you should : draw or contest board > healing, unless you're close to death. For example: if you have the choice between Arcane Intellect or Ice Barrier on turn 3, play Arcane Intellect.
Vs aggro decks: you want a defensive card like Frostbolt or Doomsayer. Then ideally 2 draw minions such as Arcanologist or Loot Hoarder, to fight there 2 drop. Turn 5 is massive vs zoo, typically you want to Frost Nova, Doomsayer. This allows a turn 6 clean board to play your secret's, acolyte or Emperor Thaurissan (in wild), putting tempo back on your side.
Vs midrange decks : Keep 2 cost draw minions like Arcanologist, loot, thalnos. Arcane Intellect and Acolyte of Pain are also great here. Draw early so u can optimize later plays. Freeze spell get the best value later in the game, were as draw spells get weaker late game.
Consider keeping Acolyte of Pain till five mana against slow decks . With a ping you can guaranty at least 2 draws from him.
Key play: If you haveAlexstrasza them and are burning them out over 2 turns then priority is to Pyroblast turn 10. This is because pyroblast takes a hole turn. Thus if u get ice block popped on your 11th turn u can ice block while burning there face. Pyroblast first also plays around Loatheb in wild.
Important Combos
Turn 5 Acolyte of Pain + ping (Careful of overdraw)
Turn 5 Frost Nova - Doomsayer
Turn 6 Cone of Cold - Doomsayer
Turn 8 Blizzard - Doomsayer
Turn 10 Frost Nova - Archmage Antonidas
i don't own archmage so i replaced it with wild pyromancer i find it extremely good vs the aggro right now also combos with acolyte and gives flamestrike a extra damage like spell damage .
The difference is, that spell damage is more often used to hit face harder. And spell damage doesn't kill itself after using 2 spells.
I believe he means Archmage Antonidas and not the Archmage the 7 drop +1 spell damage. Antonidas is a pretty vital card against tanky classes like Warrior but if you don't have Archmage Antonidas, your logic for pyromancer seems pretty solid. Good thinking! Wish you luck
Anything to do instead of Mad Scientist or should I just wait and save
I don't have bloodmage... Will sub for a loot hoarder
Is there a place for Malygos in this deck?I really like him and the 11 dmg fireball :B
Thank you!!
hi James1,if i wish to add an explosion sheep in your deck, which card should be out? it should be useful against aggro. tqvm..
how do you feel about azure drake for thalnos?
same card draw and spell dmg, but with a stronger minion
If you have Bloodmage Thalnos , put him in. If not, then loot hoarder is better, and here's why:
The main purpose of Bloodmage Thalnos is to provide either A) Early game card draw or B) Late game combo spell damage.
Here's why Loot Hoarder is better than Azure Drake: Loot hoarder costs the same as Thalnos, still has the card draw, but replaces the +1 spell damage with +1 attack, which will have to do. Azure drake's spell damage will not help due to it's inability to late game combo with either Fireball - Fireball (8 mana + thalnos (2 mana) = 10 mana, 7+7 = 14 damage) or Frostbolt - Ice Lance - Ice Lance - Fireball (8 mana + thalnos (2 mana) = 10 mana, 4+5+5+7 = 21 damage). Azure drake's 5 mana limits its combos, you can only fire off one fireball or 1 frost bolt and 2 ice lances. The card-draw is still good, but the mana cost of Azure Drake kills the purpose. Thus, Loot Hoarder gets the job done for card draw and hopefully you don't need the extra burst from Bloodmage Thalnos to win in the end. However, if you really feel that in the meta you need the spell damage more, you can put in the Kobold Geomancer to be able to get that burst in.
Hope this helped!
This deck is unbelievable, thanks for the guide! Have been wanting to give freeze mage a shot for awhile and decided to craft it after seeing this deck list. So far i've gone 5-2 with this deck and every game has been nuts. Easily my favourite deck i've ever played. Didn't have the dust for Archmage Antonidas or Bloodmage Thalnos so i subbed them out for Explosive Sheep and Kobold Geomancer
Just thought I could give two good pieces of advice though:
1. If you also do not have Bloodmage Thalnos I HIGHLY recommend choosing Kobold Geomancer as you replacement over Loot Hoarder. There is already more than enough draw in this deck, to the point which i often found myself nearly overdrawing and often the spell damage can be a game winner. At least 2 of my wins were due to having that +1 spell damage.
2. Just because you feel a matchup or board situation may be too difficult (control warrior), don't auto concede. In my last match against an inner-fire priest I thought the match was over for sure by turn 7 when he had 2 15/15's on board and wasn't able to draw a Doomsayer for the life of me. Managed to stall the game until I finally drew one as my 4th last card, clear his board, alex the next turn, and finish him the next. Easily the best Hearthstone game i've ever played.
Thanks again for the unreal deck and guide dude.
I crafted 1 iceblock and 2 doomsayer for this deck last night. I'm 2-0 and both wins involved pyroblast in the last 2 turns. The best case is to get 2 iceblock so that you can pyroblast and then fireball + fireball to finish
Yes! A 2nd loot horder is a decent replacement, as he is normally used for the card draw anyway.
Nothing, sadly xD
Well ok you could play Kezan yourself but idk if its worth it..
No, a 2nd loot horder is a decent replacement, as he is normally used for the card draw anyway
Replaement for Thaurissan?
none. Just pretend you don't need him.
love this reply! :D

Hello! I used your list to make a gameplay of a Freeze Mage deck! Thanks, worked wonders, even though I made some terrible mistakes. This deck is fun and really, I mean REALLY, hard to play with. Sometimes it defies your survival logic, like "hey, do I clear the board or take this 20 damage to face?" and the second option is the better one. Great deck! I gave the full credits on the video description and during the deck breakdown by linking to this page. Here is the VOD:

I have been receiving positive feedbacks about it, even though I did some majors missplays :P First time really playing the deck, but I trained over the weekend and I think I got the knack of it.
See ya!
