Ignite * Burn * Mage *  🌠🎇🔥🔥🔥

"Ignitus... CHANCTUM!!"

last words heard by an opponent receiving a *16* damage Ignite.

Comments are welcome.

Gameplan

Burn the enemy hero HP with Ignite. Sanctum Chandlers as well as other drawing minions allow us to play and replay the same Ignite card. Spell Damage (Sp+) low cost minions and Pyromancer will help us push further up those damages.

Cards

  • Ignite: base card of the deck. after 2 usages, 2-mana 4 damage to any target is already good. ability to cast a spell without wasting a card, allows us to keep our other options in hand, good.
  • Sanctum Chandler: MVP 🕯  allows us to play spells, draw spells and even replay Ignite on a single turn. drop wisely
  • First Flames: MVSpell. 1-mana 2 damages twinspell is cool. very important to control the board. use sparsely. kickstarts Sanctum draw
  • Bloodmage Thalnos: surprisingly very good in this deck. low cost, Sp+1, draw
  • Hot Streak: allows us to kickstart spell draw and loop Ignite 2 times on Sanctum for free ("ohhhhh yeah") \o\
  • Wild Pyromancer: our AoE tech minion, used with cheap spells
  • Zola: copying our redraw minions or pyromancer
  • Kindling Elemental: reduce the cost of Sanctum to have more efficient loop sessions, or freedrop before sessions, there are only 2 elementals in deck so Sanctum will be discounted
  • Prestor Pyromancer: "impossible to silence" buff to either our next Ignite or our Flames (buff is wasted on Hotstreaks, careful with that)
  • Forstweave Dungeoneer / Deepwater Evoker: sub-par efficiency of those minions here but they allow us to redraw Ignite
  • Shivering Sorceress / Murkwater Scribe : good discount on our fire spells, allows us better Sanctum sessions :D
  • Acolyte of Pain:  useful for drawing, you can actually hit him with Flames when there is no enemy minion for a lot of card draw (even more with Sanctum on)
  • Tuskar:  find the gameplan more easily
  • Loot hoarder: cycle the deck to make it faster

Mulligan

First flame (must have asap) / Kindling / Sanctum Chandler or Taelan (at least)

the whole deck is based on Sanctum Chandler, so you better find him asap

Notes

Your best win condition is an uncleared Sanctum. basically if Sanctum survive on board its game over for them. Try to clean the board properly, leave no minion uncheck, and then see if the opponent can clean Sanctum. If not, you go infinite looping.

The deck plays a bit like face hunter, grind with minions if you can, then finish with a great ball of Ignite fire :)

You need to "juggle" with Ignite card: play, redraw, replay

Deck has some issues when a bit behind against aggro / swarmer, you should use the insanely good tempo of Sanctum, Hotstreaks and Discounts to turn the tides for yourself

Sanctum is best played with discount at T5-6 and having 0-mana spells in hand, ideally cleaning the board with 0-mana Flames

If Sanctum is not cleared, he will give you at least 3 rounds of Ignite, which is kinda strong already, not many players expect 13+ face damage from him

Hot Streak does waste Pyromancer buff (edit: sorry i got this wrong previously)

Aegwynn has been considered, tested extensively, on and off, she's too slow :/ (but damn i love the FX of her spell)

Dont shy away from "wasting" Hot streaks (Hotstreak > Hotstreak) with Sanctum on, eg to get into your Ignite infinite loop, its very good to cycle multiple times Ignite on him to buff the card

There are only 5 spells in deck, so you can predict how Sanctum session will turn out (such as: flame > flame > hot streak > ignite > hot streak > ignite, ignite redraw)

You have only 2 "strong burst potential" in the form of 2x Sanctum Chandler being uncleared, having both cleared will make it hard to close the game except if you have looped Ignite to 5 6+ damage on their drop

Preparing infinite loop

Cards to be considered / Alternatives

  • Grand Magus Antonidas: i think this card would be good in this deck. playing Fire spells on each turn is what we do, Magus would probably trigger a strong finish move at T8, ala Kazakuzan Fireballs
  • Ras Frostwhisper: AoE boosted by Sp+, board clearer, a better non-random Firebrand imo

Thanks for reading.
