After reaching D5, I thought lets have some fun and built this deck last night. Not exactly sure if i lost around 6 or 7 games till legend. Kind of surprised this performed past my expectations. If u guys feel like having fun and have these cards give it a go.
Mulligan:
Always keep the 1 drops, zeph, finley, nozdormu (u can keep DQ and be greedy if you have noz in hand)
Against Warrior & Hunter Keep Weapon removals.
Against Priest keep the early drops, Weapon and be aggressive as possible.
Against Druid keep all the board clears and early game.
Against Shaman prolly the only game i played i felt nothing could go wrong.
Against Murloc Paladin keep early game and board clear.
I haven't seen a single DH.
Mage and Warlocks just play on curve you should be fine.
I played different versions of HL Pally in the past seasons and felt this is better than all of them. I do warn you this is not the best deck in the game nor the worst, but there is something to this deck that makes it work in all the matchups.
Also people who have tried this deck I would like to know your thoughts on Lay on hands. I kinda feel I could swap it but I do like it sometimes mainly because of the draw(it was crucial in few games) . Have fun guys!!!
First four games: 1-3. Losses to two Galakrond priests and one druid with perfect draw. Sticky Fingers was a dead draw every time and seems like he could be replaced with something...
Priest is the hardest match up for the deck unless you get good early game and go aggressive. I agree about sticky finger being a dead draw in certain games but I faced alot of weapons classes I felt its OK to run 2 weapon removals and it did help me alot against wrench caliber no screwing my highlander cards.
Really appreciate ur feedback. Hope u have fun!!
I'm sure if I play enough, I'll face some warriors where Sticky Fingers will be extremely helpful. My plan is to give it 20 games and see how things shake out. The main thing about Priest was that the buffed Shadow Madness is just so strong against this deck's early game. Both priests ended up with my Prime. (I could have tried to play around it, but it would have involved just using HP on turn 2 and that also seems bad.
I guess you got unlucky. Do let me know ur thoughts after fews more games. Probably I might tweek this a bit before then.
Just went 6-1 with the deck. I feel like it handles very well against the meta I am facing as I haven't gone 6-1 all day and I play for hours and hours lol. Great deck I can't say why it works lol but its definitely given me some fun games.
Edit: I am now 9-2 with the deck only losing to a murcock pally and a gala priest just barely lost tho. Currently at rank 3 diamond. You really have to look for your synergies and think some plays thru to manage your resources but a great deck still
Thanks alot mate, I'm glad u r having fun.
Edit: against murloc pally since we run alot of early game just getting a board clear and heals should help. Priest is hard but with some smart decisions in mulligan and some plays u should pressure the priest a bit and hope it goes ur way.
Missing Sir Finley of the Sands and Avenging Wrath, think it would work without those 2?They seem pretty key cards, even tho I haven't played any HL Pala deck at all.
They r kind of crucial in certain games, u can replace them might affect ur winrates slighter. If u r looking for fun just go for it. Finley u can replace it with 2 mana lifesteal twinspell, avenging wrath just go with your wish. I wouldn't suggest crafting them since the expansion is near.
Yes I'm trying really hard to hold back and not craft it tbh, seems like a fun deck.Thank you for your reply,I will give it a try without these 2 cards then.Cheers
I swear I didn't think it would work, but I'm 5-0 so far from D10 to D8.
haha well the same thought crossed my mind every single game i played. maybe this deck is bad and i am just lucky that's what i thought every game untill i reached legend.
Is there a place for Tirion Fordring ?
I did run him last season in a similar deck, felt as if I was just adding him for namesake. Basically he does nothing unless u highroll nozdormu and play him on turn 5 which is unlikely.
You can try cutting a weapon removal(I don't recommend it) or replace transfer student(did win me a couple of games too) if u want to I guess.
wow nice deck
