When Darkest Hour was revealed I got really excited because it's my favorite type of card, one that really asks you to think about all 30 cards in your deck. Getting it to work happens generally two ways. The first is to land a token card like Rafaam's Scheme or Fiendish Circle and then hope they survive into the big hour swing. For this too work we generally have to make sure we are fighting the early board enough to protect them while not going overboard on early minions which are bad pulls with Darkest Hour. Trying to pick the best of the best we have Saronite Taskmaster, Belligerent Gnome and Harvest Golem at 1,2,3. The second way to play Darkest Hour is in the late game where our opponent can't stop us. Turn 9 or 10 Circle or Scheme right into Hour and we can get there with an aggro stopper like Hellfire and two huge midgame taunts Hecklebot and Witchwood Grizzly, which happen to be amazing pulls from Hour because they lose the battlecry. So let's talk about the payoffs, we have the great 1-2 punch of Stormwind Champion & Batterhead and a couple long-term value one-ofs, Ysera & Big Bad Archmage. Deranged Doctor is really never good at 8-mana but is a great one-of in this type of deck for healing. Another one-of, Blood Troll Sapper works well like Stormwind with imps and can attack your opponent's life total on a different level.
