A very effective Tempo rush warrior with late game options and huge amounts of burst. Very effective to pilot to legend with, if theres any interest ill write up a guide.
A Few quick notes: One big thing to note if you try this deck is that Warpath is not a board clear in this deck, it is a win condition . Games can be instantly decided if you use warpath after having a frothing berserker or Rotface stay on the board. Also, dont underestimate the power of militia commander, its the real mvp of the deck, right along side redbrand wasp and frothing.
Edit: alright guide time!
Lets kick this off with the mulligan phase. This one is rather simple, you always want to go for woodcutters axe, town crier and redbrand wasp except for a few very key matchups. This followed up with militia commander and thr rush legendary make for very strong boards against other traditional decks (as compared to decks that arent not board orienated).
However there are some meta decks where you wanna change your gameplan, the most notable of them being aggro paladin and cubelock. For aggro paladin you want to prioritize blood razor and frothing berserker, with to a lesser extent redbrand wasp and town crier. The reason for this is that bloodrazor serves as not one but two boardclears that completely denies the dude set up for aggro paladin, and combos very well with a turn 3 frothing which most of the time they cannot trade into without losing their board anyways. Theres nothing more terrifying for a paladin than a locked board and a 15/2 frothing.
As for cube, its more complicated but the gameplans the same. You want to go hyper aggressive, running redbrand wasps into kobold librarian, prioritizing frothing for huge hyper swings. If you can drop hyper threat aggro cards on turn 3 4 and 5, it will prevent them from trying to tempo swing with giants and doomguard shenanigans. Then when they inevitably drop lacky into pact , hold on to the silence for the voidlord or lacky and wack them into death with arcanite. If you're having problems still sub in an ooze in place of the 3 drop neutral. If nothing else succeeds, wear down the cubelock and hold onto rotface and warpath for a very late game insta board threat.
These cover the two popular decks right now on ladder, for any other the goal is to quickly obtain an inpossible to deal with powerful board and rush the enemy down by turn 5-6, or if playing against control exaughst their reasources, draw rapidly with the 2 mana injured card draw, and suprise them with back to back strong finishers such as grommash with inner rage and rotface into warpath. An alternative win for any matchup is dropping frothing onto a minion heavy board on turn 5 and suprising them with a triple warpath for insane damage burst.
As for replacements; they go as followed
Town crier: not much of a replacer here. Hes very very good tutor and super neccecary for drawing correctly consitantly. I know hes epic but if possible try to craft him for this deck, if you really cant try loot hoarder.
Darius crowly; a big heavy hitter in the deck, hes strong but not neccecary. Having him will increase your win percentage by a few points but it is possible without him. A replacement for him would be any high tempo threat you can afford, or a leeroy for an extra finisher.
Grommash hellscream: leeroy but on steroids, much like inner fire priest the good ole grommash into inner rage has been a combo dating back to hearthstones birth. It fell out of standard because it came out to late and didnt have enough synergy o support it, however in this deck he truely finds a place again, often decimating enemys with the suprise 8 mana pyroblast+. If you dont already have the classoc hard hitter replace him with leeroy or whatever finisher you have, perhaps even another weapon. Fun tip, breaking bloodrazor turn ten on the opponets face with grommash into rampage and inner ragee is a 10 mana 17 damage from empty board combo. Ouch! *can also be used with korkron elite in a similiar manner.
Rotface: oh man rotface. This poor little guy got thrown to the side much to quickly on release, but with warpath coming in he really gets a second chance to shine. Turn 8 rotface into turn 9 quad warpath is not something to be taken lightly, and will often suprise and demolosh any control enemy matchups that have managed to make it this far. There really arent many minions that can do what he does, however gunspire turret does warrent mention as a replacement.
Finally Dk garrosh; the piece that holds it all together. I really feel like this is the deck where he finall feels like he belongs. The weapon lets you smash thriugh multiple taunts, the hero power has fantastic synergy, and the quick armor helps get the edge on aggro. Just a fantastic card really. If you cant afford it, sub in leeroy and try to speed the deck up.
As a quick note, primtime replacements for different metas are as followed
Cubelock: an ooze and possible a second spellbreaker
Spiteful/big decks: not many still remember the days where execute was a tempo spell, but i still believe in it. Throw one in if you face to many turn 5 20/20 statelines. And oh, pray it isnt tyrantus. Nothing can help you against that guy
Spell heavy control decks: warrior has always been a pain in the butt for people who try to play control simply by removing the board turn after turn (looking at you mage) because of their hard hitting weapons. Tech in a few more if you want to give them a run for their money, or simply to spite flamestrike.
Aggrodin: this deck was made during the hieght of odd paladin and as it stands is a testament to the perfect counter for it.
Aggro in general: however i do recognize the potential of aggro like odd hunter or simply other decks that pop up. If youre running into to many of these throw in an armor smith or two and watch those bloodrazor swing turns net you 30 more life.
For all techs i recommend replacing hench clan thug first as it is one of the weaker cards, followed by spellstone and inner rage.
I hope this guide helps. Let me know if theres anything else!
Hey this is like 3 weeks late but I made a video on the deck!
Oh well its the thoight that counts. I know the deck ended up being pushed out by specifically taunt druid, but i hope it was enjoyable while you played around with it
Oh wow what an interesting idea. If you see this let me know how that went
Well this is the deck that make me enjoy warrior again. It keep giving great pressure to your opponent in early, mid and late game, but also have great control power thanks to rush minion and blood razor.
i have to mentioned that reaper and spellstone is unexpectedly strong and have won me many games.
- 1 darius +1 execute, as i face so many druid~
The deck has made its way to HSReplay. For some reason it's classified as spiteful warrior...
Either way, you can see how it started out high, but once the MMR figured out what to place it against, it's down to a 50% winrate like everything else.
Hope we all got to enjoy the deck while it was winning a lot :D
Oh neat. Ironically enough thats around the time i stopped playing it to. Im glad some people got to enjoy it with me.
I don't have Rotface. What do you think about Lich King like replacement?
I feel like there is room for Countess in this deck. If you add her, then adding Vicious Scalehides would also make sense. It might help to provide an early threat and life gain vs agro.
My doubts of the deck some from too many 1 of's. How necessary are Spellstone, Rampage, Warpath, and Arc Reaper? If they are effective in the deck it feels like it would make more sense to just play 2 of em.
The deck seems very 2 drop heavy. I like the Thug a lot and shifting some 2's to 3's might help.
Thanks for the deck though! I enjoyed what I have tried so far.
The one ofs are actually a result of me refining the deck. I originally did have two of everything but the issue was that every card that is a 1 of (with the except of henchclan thug) has a very specific purpose that can only be used for that purpose, meaning its completely dead after its purpose has been used. I ran into the problem of having a totally dead card after using the synergy combos and that was just to devastating for a midranged deck.after i perfected it to where it is now i found a lot more success. The only card that i can honestly say i do t enjoy in the deck is the henchclan, however as you said i need a couple more 3s and he was simply the best i could find. If you play the deck youll quickly notice how weak he is compared to the high power of the rest of the deck. After that id also agrre that the spellstone is one of the weaker feeling cards, however its filling the very awkward turn of 7. This deck has explosive turns on every turn except 7 and 9, so its more to help you from having a dead turn than anything. Youd also notice theres is 0 reason to add more draw in. The deck already has 3 cheap tutors and 2 copies of the only card that can contest divine favor in terms of raw cheap draw. Which is the reason for so many 2 drops. The deck cycles fast enough that the pure tempo provided by 2 cost cards like heroic strime and rampagae are extremely advantagous.
The scalehides are an interesting idea however i truely believe this deck can out burst any aggro deck on the ladder right now if piloted correctly, and addi ng scalehides will simply make control matchups worse than they alrrady are.
Thank you for the feedback though as its always welcome!
Spiteful druid didnt actually become popular until affer i hit legend, however the few i did match up against i won simply by hyper aggroing. However if you are consistanly facing the deck than i recommend teching in an execute, that way you can combo it with bloodrazor to maintain tempo and close them out before turn 8
Flying up the ladder with this! I love this style of play, where you can make huge turns and wins by thinking and solving puzzles, rather than just playing "the glowing green card" every turn.
Haven't beat a cubelock yet though. Just way too much control over the board. Even run into some that run double voodoo doll... So they have 2 spellstones, voodoo dolls, 2 hellfires.. and that's while trying to get through how many void lords.
Any deck with a lot of control options - cubelock, big mage, some priests, etc, this deck is going to fall flat on its face. It wrecks everything else. No deck is great against everything!
This deck gets shredded by Cube Lock and can't keep up board tempo with Spiteful Druid. Hard to see how this can be 87% winrate to legend when meta decks outvalue it so hard.
The problem with claimed winrates is that one person's meta can be very different from another. Depending deck used, time of day, region of server, etc. You could run into 30% paladin or 30% warlock at any given time. Hell when I break out my rogue deck, I see mostly rogues as opponents.
So if he had this running when the meta was favorable to it (no cubelocks, no priests, no druids) then I can see it winning at a high percentage.
Otherwise, just enjoy the deck if it's fun to play, and don't worry too much about winning a lot.
Id be lying if i said 70% of my opponets werent odd paladin. The other 30 were cube but still. And fhe occasional shudderwock which i made cry
This deck is crazy :). Just out-aggroed a baku-warrior lol.
Oh ya the few baku warriors i faced didnt stand a chance lol
All my losses happened due to getting to low health too quickly. Wins were pretty dominant tho.
I don't have rotface but i got the gunspire, do you think i can try that?
Absolutely! Its not as good but it serves the same purpose. My problem with gun spire is that its not as effective if the opponet has a board; as the next turn warpath will clear their board either way, however gunspire will attack minions that will die anyways and it really dilutes its effevtiveness.
Any chance for a guide/Mulligan?
Thanks a lot OP
