I did a brief calculation of the probability that you will draw this card at or before turn 4. I did the case when you start first, and I assume that you carry two of this card.
If you draw this card at the very start:
1-27*26/(30*29)=0.1931 (1 minus the probability that you don't draw this card)
If you replace all your cards for it and you actually get one:
27*26/(30*29)*(1-24*23/(27*26))=0.1724 (the probability that you don't draw this card in the beginning 3 cards times 1 minus the probability that you don't draw this card after replacing all 3)
If you draw this card on or before turn 4:
27*26/(30*29)*24*23/(27*26)*(1-23*22/(27*26))=0.17715 (the probability that you didn't draw this card before game actually starts times 1 minus the probability that you don't draw this card on or before turn 4)
Since these 3 cases are mutually exclusive, the sum of them is the probability that you will draw it on or before turn 4, which is:
54.275%
The probability in case which you play second will be higher than this since you draw an extra card.
What do you guys think about this? If you make a deck that builds around this card, will it make sure that you always win if you draw it? What card will you put in so that you can still survive even if you don't have this card?
Those odds are also greater if you run cards with card draw in the first 4 turns.
In very, very rare occasions, you can do that when you wraith for 1 damage. Also Druids don't run low mana card draws normally, especially when you run two of this card and want your mana curve higher.
It's "normally". My astral druid deck has Coldlight Oracle and Grove Tender to have good topdecks after astral.
Without any card draw played before turn 4:
P(draw this card on or before turn 4|go first)=54.267%
(Please don't carry forward rounded results, this is 1 - (24*23^2*22)/(30*29*27*26) or 1 - (2^2*11*23^2)/(3^3*5*13*29) if you first simplify your numbers)
P(draw this card on or before turn 4|go second)=62.256%
So chances of getting this on or before turn 4 is 58.261%
Of course without any other mana manipulation other than the coin, if you go second you can play this on turn 3.
In this case chances of playing this card on or before the turn it becomes first possible is 54.666%
Never tell me the odds.
This is incorrect based on the game mechanics of the mulligan: Cards discarded cannot be redrawn.
Hence P(none with full mulligan)=24/27.
and P(draw this card on or before turn 4|go first)= 1-24/30*23/27 = 43/135 = 31.852%
Similarly with 2 copies, you get 1 - ((24*23)/(30*29)) * ((23*22)/(27*26)) = 27619/50895 = 54.267% (As previously stated)
I don't see anyone mentioning the obvious use of this card. Play it in a deck with cards like Garrison Commander. Shame Coldarra Drake is a Wizard card.
Edit: Add in a Savage Combatant for your two hero power usages and swing with your hero for 6 while you're at it.
no one is mentioning that because those are mage only and druid only class cards
Is this not a druid card as well? Garrison Commander is neutral for that matter.
I'm not totally sure how well decks built around this card will work, but I'm not sure I like the kind of games it will create. You will start a game and if you manage to play an early Astral you will autowin, otherwise you will autolose. Doesn't sound that fun for you or your opponent.
So any clarification on how this will work? will you gain excess mana cards or what?
The devs confirmed a while back that if you have 10 mana when you play this card, you will discard your hand and gain one Excess Mana. This is significant because there if you run two Communions, there is no risk that you draw the other as a dead card right off.
Well...if your hand is going to hell anyways, you can always play deathwing turn 5...
I first thought this card was terrible but if you just pack your deck with these and very high cost minions along with card draw like cold light oracle - Astral Communion druid decks will be a thing. It's just that if you don't draw it in the first 3-4 turns you're pretty much dead. The best case scenario is having a starting hand with innervate and Astral Communion. In that case you will probably outright win against almost any match up. You could even Coin, innervate Astral Communion turn 1 lol gg
The card text seems a bit off?.. it almost seems like you gain 10 mana crystals so 4+ 10 = 14 and you would gain 4 excess mana spells? but instead it only makes your current mana pool 10? but at 10 mana it gives 1 excess mana spell?? wut
im just saying the grammar on the card is weird? is the same as wild growth isnt it? but the way it works is just way different? does nourish give 1 excess mana spell also if cast on turn 10? it just seemed to me that excess mana is given for ever excess mana crystal?
It's more like "if a mana adding spell gives 0 mana crystalls you get an excess mana card"

For everyone who thinks the effect only last one turn go to 1:25 to hear the explanation.
Oh for a second i thought this card gave 10 mana for the rest of the game. Now i can't see this card get play in anything other than fun decks.
