Well, you can't get Acidmaw, but you could get any other poisonous beast under 5 mana and get the same effect. It has saved me a couple of times on Wild.
Update?
Now 2 months are over and no update for Rexxar?
Welcome back Rexxar! Now you will have more updates finally. Good news for one of the top 5 funniest cards in all HS.
I get the reasons behind this only working on old beasts, it's the good old "limit design space" argument. And though I agree that it's a problem that must be addressed, leaving KnC out was nota good decision IMO.
Given the rotation system, something like discovering only Classics, Basics and Year of the Mammoth would've been more elegant.
The real truth behind DK Rexxar not being able to discover from future expansions is to prevent him from being a one time craft that effectively can be used in any hunter deck forever and limits the amount of cards needed to make any hunter deck, which Blizzard realized when they saw their future profit loses because of this cards existence aka "Design Space" that they can make a profit from their player base with each new expansion. I'm sure this DK was one of the most crafted sought after card, thus the highest earning card in the entire KFT set.
If they can't make a reprint of this card for every time this card rotates out of standard, then they're losing huge amounts of money on future expansion purchases from people wanting to play any hunter deck in standard or wild. By gimping this card and every future reprint by limiting each one to only a certain pool of cards from specific sets, it guarantees future revenue for the entirety of the games existence to play hunter in Hearthstone.
All the months silence from Blizzard, DK Rexxar can't have beast from Expansions after frostthrone...
NERF is incomming ! Deathstalker Rexxar con not get beast from Cobolds and Catacombs, and he can not get beast from Expansions after CaC. This means that the pool of beast will decrase fast at April 2018. See information in reddit about.
this card is amazing, best dk in terms of fun/utility/creativity. 2 dmg aoe is soooooooo gooooood against zoolock and shaman board spam. 2 unleashes + this and you winning games against lots of agressive decks. Very good card.
Hunter needs another good removal. I mean, i get it, blizzard doesn't want to make flamestrikes for hunter cuz thats not fitting class fantasy, but something like multi-shot but more precise and high tempo will be good enough.
Problem with Explosive Trap and Exploding Bloatbat is that they are not proactive, but passive aoe, which doesn't prevent face damage when needed and doesn't help to develop the board.
As a Hunter main, you have no idea how much I hated Mean Streets. My class has been unplayable for nearly a year. And then Frozen Throne showed up, and gave me Deathstalker Rexxar. This is the card that can make Control Hunter finally viable. All Rexxar needs now is more AoE and card draw, then Hunter can finally become the hero we need.
My biggest gripe with this card is that you can't build a beast with materials that cost more than 5 mana. I mean, come on, how hard is it to make an algorithm that goes something like " If the first discovered beast costs (8) the second one will cost 2 or less" .That is just pure lazyness. Small indie company I guess.
Hi Londipondi,
I'm an official employee of Blizzard and we are one of the SMALLEST Indie gaming companies in the world right now. We get interns from local community colleges to build the algorithms for our card game.
We would appreciate you not making fun of our company's size in the future regarding the content we are able to produce.
Sincerely,
A Blizzard Employee
I doubt it's about lazyness, it is by design.
That way they can create beasts cards they don't want to be Zombeasts.
Example: King Krush + Young Dragonhawk = 18 damage to face.
The way they did it don't restrict the design of future cards. Blizzard is not a small indie company.
Doubt it, if that was true they would reduce equally ridiculous outcomes for other cards. I don't know how feasible the scenario you describe is but i'm sure that I'ts less probable than Stonehill Defender discovering one of the three incredibly powerful Taunt Legendary minions that Paladin has, for example. There have been plenty of cards like that designed w/o the design space in mind ( primordial glyph, bloodbloom, warsong commander, master of disguise) so I think its safe to say that they are more lazy than careful. ( i dont know if i get my point across well not a native speaker)
Design is luckily not driven by people on forums who know nothing about it, but by people who know what they are doing. So just go back flipping burgers and don't try to make fun of HS team, it looks silly and pathetic.
Nice argument there buddy. I bet you are actually a tech Millionaire,! Also I think the Blizzard team has proven time and time again that they have no freaking clue what to make of this game. They want it to be an Esport with as much RNG as roulette. So I think I'm more than justified to criticize some of their design decisions.
Or maybe they just wantd to be consistent and not waste a lot of codes on just programing a cingle card effect. Also I prefer you just get card for 5 mana or less, because it gets more consistennt since there is a limieted card pool. Bittertide Hydra + Jungle Panther is not OP enough for you?
I made a thread a few weeks ago called " The probability of getting a specific zombeast" I am going to refer everyone that replies to this message in the future there so that you can see why getting X Zombeast is not overpowered.
Blueotto's reply really made my day.
Quite a decent card.
