Obtaining the Galaxy Gifts Card Back & 3 Free Packs
Last night the Galaxy Gifts card back promotion went live and is only available to those with a Samsung Galaxy S6. We’ve put together a guide on how you can do this from the comfort of your own PC using an Android emulator. This guide was inspired by n4ru’s guide.
This requires that you have Amazon account to use their Appstore. You can create one for free on the Amazon website. You can later use this account and emulator to buy Hearthstone packs cheaper than normal when Amazon runs Amazon Coin promotions!
This will work on Windows, Linux, and Mac. We’ve got instructions and a video below to help you get your card back and card packs.
Quote from HearthPwn
- Download Genymotion, an Android Emulator. (Download requires account login, you can create an account or try one of these)
- Direct downloads: [MAC OSX] [Windows with VBox] [Ubuntu 32] [Ubuntu 64] [Debian 64]
- Run the Genymotion installer. This can take a bit while it downloads the needed files, so be patient.
- Run Genymotion, add a new virtual device as it prompts you to.
- Login using your account or one of the bugmenot accounts to display all the devices you can create.
- Select “Samsung Galaxy S5 - 4.4.4 - API 19 1080x1920” from the available virtual devices. Hit next, hit next again. Finish. Launch the newly created virtual device.
- Go to Settings -> Security and then enable “Unknown sources”.
- On the search widget at the top of your home screen, search for “Amazon Appstore”. Click on “Amazon Appstore: Getting Started” to get to the download page. Download it.
- Pull down your notification frame, click on the downloaded AmazonApps-release.apk. Click next, click install, click open. Login with your Amazon account.
- In the search bar at the top type in Hearthstone. Download it by clicking on Free and then Get App. Once it finishes downloading, your device will ask if you want to install it, say yes. Do not launch the game when it is done downloading!
- Go to your apps and open up File Manager. Click the menu button of your emulator (or press ctrl+m) to open the menu. Hit the Settings button at the bottom left. Click on “General Settings”. Look for “Access Mode” and set this to “Root Access mode”. Select “Remember choice forever” and then click “Allow”.
- Once again open the menu, this time click on “System folder”. Inside of this look for a file named “build.prop” which should be at the bottom. Click on this and open it with “Editor”.
- Find the line “ro.product.brand=generic”. Change generic to samsung.
- Insert a new line after the previous line and type in (with no quotes) “ro.product.model=SM-G920F”.
- Save the file by using the save icon in the top right of the app.
- Close the emulator by hitting the X button. Launch it again and then go to your app screen and start up Hearthstone. Login with your Battle.net account to get your card back. Don’t forget to login to each region which you want the card back in.
- Bonus: If you’ve never played a game of Hearthstone on Android before, you can get a free card pack by playing a single match within the emulator.
Deck Spotlight: Budget Friendly Decks!
Today we're doing things a bit different with our spotlight - we're showcasing 11 decks!
WingsOfWax has been hard at work over the past few weeks crafting an excellent selection of budget decks (and guides!) for the community, some of which you may have seen in our top decks widget. In this list, every class is represented with a popular budget-friendly archetype.
The following decks have been built to stay under 2000 dust and assume that the player using them has unlocked the Naxxramas adventure, which for the record is a fantastic purchase if you don't already have it. BRM cards have not been included as the cards within it aren't entirely necessary for solid deck building.
Will you be taking any of these decks out for a spin on the ladder?
Deck | Cost |
---|---|
Zad + Combo Druid | 1900 |
Hybrid Hunter | 1080 |
Mech Mage | 1360 |
Tempo Mage | 1200 |
Aggro Paladin | 1820 |
Control Priest | 1400 |
Burst Rogue | 1380 |
Tempo Oil Rogue | 1960 |
Mech Shaman | 1580 |
Zoolock Aggro | 1340 |
SMOrc Warrior | 920 |
Card Design Competition #25
Our twenty-fifth instalment of the card design competition is underway, and you're invited to create a card of your own. This week's theme is "HS Top", which requires you obey the following rules:
- The card must be a minion;
- The artwork must contain a character with a beard;
- The effect must activate off of the minion taking damage.
An excellent example of a card which meets these requirements is none other than Grim Patron.
The submission phase closes on July 21 at 18:00 UTC, so get those entries in! You can submit your own card in the submission thread, or comment on other cards in this week's discussion thread. Don't forget you vote on your favourites by using the voting button!
Card Design Competition #24 Winner
Congratulations to literleck for winning last week's More Than Meets The Eye competition with Druid of the Talon!
I don't know if you have resolved this yet, but this is pretty common. You will need to Flash the virtual device to activate Google play services. Follow the instructions on how to do this here http://inthecheesefactory.com/blog/how-to-install-google-services-on-genymotion/en
You will need to download and flash the Genymotion-ARM-Translation_v1.1zip then the Android 4.4.x
once this is done complete the tutorial above. It should work.
If you get an error trying to install Amazon Underground, you're installing the wrong apk. Just look for Amazon-appstore.apk download and install that file. Much shorter than installing an ARM translator and gapps
Got a Golden Nat Pagle and just under 200 Dust from the other cards. Happy with that.
Another method to achieve this on a ROOTED ANDROID is:
install and setup Xposed Framework. (and reboot)
install Device Faker. (and reboot)
open device faker and select device "Samsung/SM-G920F/5.0.2" and press apply.
start hearthstone.
profit!
tested on an Samsung Note 1 GT-N7000 with CM13 Marshmallow Android 6.0 NightOwl alpha4.1 rom with Xposed Framework version 78.
Didn't work for me...
GT-N8000 CM13 with Xposed
Yay! Totally worked now! Thanks! Way easier than this tutorial!
What device name do you choose? I can't find the one he listed.
That's weird. I found exactly the one he listed.
When I first installed Genymotion on my Windows 10 machine the bridged connection between the host and the physical adapter broke my LAN. If your internet does NOT work after installation, open up properties on your PHYSICAL(not host) adapter and uncheck Virtualbox Networking Driver. Let me know if you are still having problems with your LAN.
Well it also works on Galaxy 5 note I just borrowed someone's and it worked. If all else fails you can use one at like Tmobile store one of the displays they are online and you can download apps just make sure you log out.
Can anyone please help? I've run through all the steps here and in other guides, such as installing the ARM translator and google apps pack, as well as trying out every other emulator, but I still get the same result.
Every time I open up the "shop" page in-game, it only opens up the ability to buy one pack with gold. No matter what I do, nor what program I use, I can't get anything else.
If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it.
After I've installed Hearthstone and run it, it stops at "Unpacking crates" and says there is not sufficient space on the device to continue. I've got 51GB free on my HD, and the emu says the virtual phone has 4GB free, so not sure why it would think the virtual device has no space. Anyone else run into this?
EDIT: Never mind. I uninstalled and reinstalled HS and it went fine. I now have my 3 packs and lovely new card back. Thanks!
I wasn't able to use Amazon Appstore (it complained about incompatible device), but I was able to download Hearthstone from Google Play Market and complete the quest. To install Market app itself, I used this article: http://android-helper.com.ua/google-in-genymotion/ (warning: Russian language!)
In translation, you need to download to PC the following:
Subsequently drag-n-drop first downloaded archive to the emulator window, agree with everything, restart emulator and do the same with second archive. After that you may proceed with steps from this HearthPwn article.
THIS did the trick! Thanks for the information!!
Just to let you guys know this thing still working ... just done it today.
Does this still work?
For some reason when I downloaded the "Amazon-App.apk" I clicked on it from the recent downloads and it said "Can't Open File"
hope this can be resolved soon, thanks :)
Download Amazon app.apk separately and drag it in emulator
It says "INSTALL_FAILED_CPU_ABI_INCOMPATIBLE". When I installed "amazon app.apk" on my desktop and dragged it on the emulator. Can you send me a link just incase I got it from a wrong site or something :P. Ty.
