Funny enough, I have found the thief tools much better in wild than in standard due to how some decks work.
For example, Chameleos helped me win alot of times back when Buff Paladin was everywhere. So not really crappy cards to add.
I would add this in a priest deck with Dirty Rat, Mutanus the Devourer, Disarming Elemental, Blademaster Okani, maybe a Quest Priest deck? It wouldn't be a tier 1 deck, but for sure a frustrating to play against deck and can be a pain for different combo decks.
I think we will see more cards that will have synergy with this card. If it's not this expansion, maybe the next.
Excuse me what. Is it going to steal cards from their hand and deck too?
Thoughtsteal your win condition? kekw
Hard counter to Explore Un'Goro yee
Really good if it can steal minions while on the board, otherwise it's pretty useless unless you manage to hit some key combo pieces. Either way there needs to be a lot more support for the thief strategy to make a working deck.
It really just works as a more consistent mutanus/dirty rat.
If you are against aggro it's bad, if you are against combo you constantly try to snipe to combo piece; and if you're against control it's just usefull to destroy some of it's value.
I'd say it's way worse than both Mutanus and Rat for stopping combo. Most copy cards in Priest don't target the hand which is where you usually want to remove cards, such as quest rewards or just anything they've already drawn. Plus copy-focused decks tend to run very little draw because they need to use up all of the cards they copy, so the chance of you drawing into this and also copying a necessary combo piece before they draw into their combo is pretty bad. And on top of that Mutanus is a Murloc so it can be fetched consistently with Gorloc (done in both Control Warrior and Control Shaman). And on top of that this costs 3 mana so you are limited in what and how much you can steal, Kazakusan for example can't be stolen unless you have 11 mana, and if you steal say a 7-cost card then you can't steal anything else. On top of that you need to hold onto what you spent mana to copy, potentially for a long time both until you draw this and until you have enough mana to steal it, which may just lose you the game. It also doesn't work with Brann.
But most importantly this only works in a dedicated copy deck, and such a deck has no additional support right now. You'd just be playing a terrible version of Thief Rogue.
I wonder if this works like mind control if the copied minion is in play?
also imagine stealing a hero card in play just kills your opponent.
If they are going to continue to do these "archetypes packages" eg the Rouge secret one as well. At least reveal all the cards that make it up.
I was thinking about this and I think it's on purpose. The whole expansion is a murder mystery, so they set the reveals up with some mysteries too.
It;s definitely not a coincedence or accident after they have done it twice now this expansion. I suspect we may see them do it again too, after the Relics and this Secret mystery.
They've been doing it this way for 8 years.....
Interesting, but not really clear how it works yet For example if you get copy of a card and you're opponent has two copies in a deck and play the one you copied from, it probably won't steal the second one. Maybe yes, but more likely is it kinda marks one of them and noone knows which one 🤔
I think it will pretty much always be clear which one.
only situation I can think of where it’s a 50/50 is if they are both in deck, but we know one is on the bottom of the deck.
i don’t think it would steal both. It so would probably be worded “steal all copies of it”
I'm guessing each copy is a whole different card. If you run a gold version and a normal one, you will easily note which one were stole
What I have issue with is that when you playing this legendary you don't know which of the two copies your opponent had in deck at a time was copied by you.
So Let's say they had two Fireballs in deck and you got one copy. Next turn your opponent draws and plays one Fireball, which is the one that was copied by you. Then on your turn you play the new legendary and Fireball. Will you get the other fireball from opponent's deck or not? 🤔
I don't think you should get it, which will feel awkward. Because sometimes it screws you and will feel bad once they draw and play the second one. And sometimes it screws your opponent. Classic Priest I guess
I think you described exactly how it will work. No surprise, this card sucks
That's a ton of setup for a marginal return. Would rather have mindrender ilLucia back.
Dang. This expansion is throwing out some weird stuff. Some good some bad. Love it.
omg such a nice card and love the idea, if its playable is a second thing though
