Discolock approves this card.
It feels like they printed this card at least 20 times.
Is this an attempt to make Clutchmother Zavas actually work in a Discolock deck?
Incredible new concept
Another beautiful card that acts as proof that Mark of the Lotus should cost 2 Mana.
I'll just leave this here:
Storm's Wrath
Competitive Spirit
Righteous Cause
Grim Rally
You're ignoring the fact that the discard on this card is as much an upside as a downside. It's targeted discount, so it's very easy to manipulate it to discard your Boneweb Egg which means you not only buff your entire board by +1/+1, you get two 3/2s besides. This card is at least as good as Mark of the Lotus (a card that, by the way, saw next to zero play while it was in standard).
Also, board buffs are part of the Druid "class identity". Druid has more weaknesses than almost every other class by design. For one, they have the worst AOE in the game. Or do I have to point out that druid 5 mana AOE (Starfall) isn't quite as good as Shaman 5 mana AOE (Haggatha's Scheme), or if you want to compare classic to classic Warrior's Brawl? Why is it fine that those cards are so much better, but if Druid's buffs are slightly better that's suddenly a big deal?
I get your point. Class identities could potentially make up for what would otherwise be mana or stat inconsistencies.
However, Aggro Druid is really strong right now in Wild.
And this card is a key component in establishing borderline unbreakable turn 1 boards.
The inconsistencies do become less relevant at the later stages of the game, i'll give you that.
But, all of that doesn't matter anymore, if the game is over by turn 4-5.
Turn 3, if they highroll.
I get that, and I know Agro Druid is a monster in Wild, I'm just saying that it's not Mark of the Lotus by itself that's the problem. It's just an issue of a critical mass of synergistic cards. Too many easy ways to flood the board, and too many buffs. You could easily have Mark of the Lotus in at least 8 classes in standard right now without it being overpowered (or even good at all, in many cases).
Critical mass of synergistic cards has always been one of the core issues of a Wild format in HS.
Has discard synergy with...absolutely nothing, because outland was the last set with discard mechanics and they focused around discarding high cost cards. It might be intentional as a way to balance it, but honestly if this hit both your Hand of Gul'dan 's I still don't think zoolock would be good.
... Hello? Boneweb Egg? Are you drunk Wrought? It's literally the most synergistic card in the game, standard or wild for Wicked Whispers. You buff your entire board, and summon two more 3/2s in the process. And we haven't seen the vast majority of the cards this set yet, it's very likely that we get another "discard lover" card.
I hope the discard mechanic returns, I always liked it and it is also more complicated than just playing aggro
You should try wild. Discard Warlock is currently Tier 1.
I hope that this expansion will have some more discard sinergy cards
controlled discard is always better than random at least
You're all missing the most important application of this card
It's another way that Trick Totem can manage to discard your hand in duels!
there is only one support card for this(the egg) or empty hand with HoG.
im sure more Disco cards are coming
is it entire deck or hand? if its entire deck it will break the game.
sry boys its board
Nice Zoolock support and all, but I wanna see the last piece of the Big Demon puzzle they’ve been pushing for the last 2 expansions.
Wasn’t Mark of the Lotus a very good card?? I seem to remember very strong token Druid decks around that time.
Also Zoo Warlock have much more consistency compared to Druid for zoo, and will take any AOE buff they can get.
