18.0.1 Hotfix - Discover Cards & Random Generating Cards Can No Longer Discover Themselves
Blizzard just announced an important hotfix aiming at improving the player experience on discover cards & r andom generating cards.
Full changes
Quote from BlizzardHey everyone,
We’ve got a hotfix going out later today that includes significant changes to the Discover keyword and randomly generated cards:
- Discover cards can no longer Discover themselves.
- Cards that ‘generate a random card’ can no longer generate themselves.
Dev comment: Overall, this change is aimed at helping games feel a bit more varied. While generating the same card can be an exciting individual moment, these types of experiences tend to have diminishing returns after a while. These adjustments should make for healthier games against classes with a ton of resource generation.
The hotfix also includes the following:
- Mr. Bigglesworth is now available in Battlegrounds to all players.
- Fixed a bug where the selected minion summoned by Jandice Barov would not have the death upon damage enchantment when summoned again with Khadgar.
- Fixed a bug where Headmaster Kel’Thuzad would not resurrect minions that were destroyed from being returned to a full hand.
These changes will take place on the server-side, so you won’t have to download anything if you’ve already updated to 18.0.
Quote from BlizzardThis hotfix is live now! Also to clarify how it works for a card like Shadow Visions—you're still able to Discover a second copy of Shadow Visions if you have one in your deck.
Thats ecactly what it doesn't make it an issue, is not the same polarizing match than a Keleseth, is even lower chance thatn that.
Guess I needn't have saved up multiple copies of Underbelly Angler.
you... you want dust for every single random/discover card generator? okay...
Why not? Would be positive for the F2Ps and give Blizzard some much needed good karma.
thats wayy too much dust for blizzard to just give away and they give you refunds when they nerf cards because they make them much worse or even unplayable
yeah, about that, i know what you say, but, reprisal is tecnichaly rigth, since first change to Dragonqueen Alexstrasza was considered a nerf , you know she wasnt able to generate herself anymore and that was a full dust refund nerf, and blizzard knows it, but what is the logic on alex being a nerf and this one not?, just because people can get more dust?, im sorry but blizzard shouldnt called dragonqueen's change a nerf then
I would like to start off by saying that there should be compensation to a game wide change, affecting many people and decks, and taking the "fun" that can be gained by getting something like a Primordial Glyph or Underbelly Angler off of itself over and over again.
However, the reason for Dragonqueen Alexstrasza being a "nerf" as compared to this is that the card on its own had a major impact on competitive and casual play of the game in its entirety, and looping itself (even just once) provided people with enough value to win the game on its own. More specifically, the "hotfixing" they are doing is not a "nerf" as it applies to a type of mechanic rather than an individual card for an individual reason. Because of this, just like in many other online TCGs, they should compensate the players for a form of inconvenience, rather than dust amounting to the large summed pool that is the generator and discover cards.
It can be easy to see why people are upset over this, as this game has a lot RNG which provides "a good time to be had" with random effects, but for many people (like me) who have been playing since just days after the launch of the game, and have seen the impacts that these types of cards can have, it is nice to see a change that betters the game overall and takes the extreme leverages away from those who have the ability to get infinite value and completely swing games at any point, no matter the position of either player.
Yeah dragon queen chaining itself was a huge swing the games where it happened, but the nerf was mostly preventing that from happen more often, cause it was a really small percentage of the total games where she was played.
That said, mayor or minor change, it was considered and developed as a nerf, while all of this isn't. and is not excuse that changes it. Do i understand why blizzard does this?, yeah. Does that mean i should ignore it and act as nothing like this happened before? no.
Why should you not be able to discover legedaries? Id even say they are generally the weakest.
Because he gets tilted that his opponents discover legendaries, duh
For now: Soul Mirror, Evocation, Kargath Bladefist (prime for big war), Dragonqueen Alexstrasza from lackeys.
Earlier: Metamorphosis, Zilliax, Tirion Fordring + Sunkeeper Tarim from Stonehill Defender, DK hero cards (especially in arena), turn 3 Luna's Pocket Galaxy from Primordial Glyph and etc...
Nerf to the Finders Keepers flavor text. Not that anyone remembers that card, anyway.
now the flavor text should become "Yahaaarg"
Yeah, glad there is a realization that 'broken record' mechanics is frustrating to play against, and more frustrating to lose against.
Now how about a recent game where my Priest opponent played Thoughtsteal into MY Marshspawn into Renew into Silence for my Lady Vashj? that felt pretty bad too.
Just a small hotfix. Nothing big, just a core mechanic getting a drastic overhaul.
This was the next step after the class card weight was eliminated so Neutral and class cards were offered evenly. I can't say I saw it coming, but to me it's hardly less than expected.
''Discover cards can no longer Discover themselves.'' This has been long over due. Glad it's finally happened. Helps control the cancer RNG.
Dudes, I've played A LOT with token mage (Vex Crow's sutffs) using more than 2 Magic Tricks per match. This wasn't any fair, even the deck being a true s*** and trash meme. That combo with Mana Cyclone, already mentioned here, was strong sometimes in this deck.
I was using Pirate "Cancer" Warrior with that machine "Ship's Cannon" gun, or Skybarge, with more than 2 Sky Raiders per match. I was like "Why am I cleanning up the board with a aggro deck? WHY!?", truly unfair. I got, more than twice, 3 extras, yes, !-T-H-R-E-E- -E-X-T-R-A-S-!, Sky Raiders in ONE turn.
I'm TRULY glad this hotfix came out, my sincerest thanks, Blizz.
You probably mean DH then.
Wouldn't call it a 'hotfix'. It is change in mechanics that we had since the beginning and should be announced in game
