Exactly, Priest can't play Tempo or midrange because it lacks the card draw to make the final push. And putting 6 1 drops (that most don't survive for a turn) in a deck in the hopes of getting this Legendary going is going to basically make you lose at least 80% of your games where you don't draw it.
This is a Warlock card because Warlock can play zoo with enough draw to make this card happen while Priest doesn't really have any options left except maybe some egg deck that Warlock could play a ton better anyway.
Priest can play midrange (though it's really bad against any high value/control deck because it's kinda slow at actually winning the game) but this card wants to go into a more zoo-ish priest deck. Which is very much held back by lack of card generation or card draw short of running like... loot hoarder.
You can think of the 2nd copy of this is Dark Pharaoh Tekahn. Lackeys are good fodder to turn into 4/4s.
Warlocks and Priests have tools already to stall out the game so playing this as a mini combo is not that weak or hard for them.
Agree, card is over hyped - it's a single copy with no tutor (so not like the Ancharr and pirates with corsair cache) that requires to build a deck around its ability, therefore if no good card cycle its hard to find it and its value "enablers", also requires to combo on same turn on tempo match-ups so cant be played on turn 4.
Coin this out on 3. It usually lives. Next turn you play two 1/1s, maybe throw in a Boneweb Egg, and you suddenly have a 3/6, three 4/4s and two 2/1. 19/20 in stats for 7 mana. It's not even a particularly hard turn to pull off.
You still think it's "overhyped"? It probably won't see play in priest - unless we get a lot more zoo cards for priest - but I'll eat my hat if it doesn't see play in basically every zoolock deck, this card is insanely powerful in zoolock.
It would make more sense in Priest if the student had the Deathrattle of whatever was killed.
The death rattle basically becomes a battlecry. Amazing for cheap death rattle minions.
Definitely seems more a warlock card than priest. Warlocks have an abundance of 1 drops, including lackeys as well as large amounts of reliable card draw to fill their hand to prepare. Priests do not have nearly as many 1 drops, the worst lackey generation and the worst card draw in the game, all of which are IMO necessary for this card to be good.
With what we know right now, solid warlock card, mediocre to bad priest card. That might change with future reveals
So how many 0 mana minions can i put in my deck :)
This is Obscene in some sort of Egg Zoolock LUL
Still only a one of, so I think it's actually fair.
After seeing the rouges leggie i am bit jelaous, 4/4s were supose to be rogues gimmick. Anyway its an awesome card and it wont cause nerfs to egg warlock and some other card gen.
purrfect combo with lackeys
Insane card for Zoolock, holy cow.
Obviously good in Zoolock. More craziness in Wild format. This is like that old Warlock legendary, turning all of your lackeys into 4/4 except it's 1 mana cheaper, better stats and it applies to all minions now.
Dark Pharaoh Tekahn is crying in a corner. Am surprised no one has posted him yet, it's basically a rework of Dark Pharaoh. Same flavor.
Tekahn has a lasting effect for the entire rest of the game tho, I'd say Tempowise the new one beats it, but if the game drags out longer Tekahn obviously way better.
I hardy think it works vs aggro in priest. I mean you have to play a 3/6 vs say a Hunter or any midarange etc Warrior, they just smack you in the face, because you can/t even play a taunt on 5 (i guess the good stat line threatens with apotheosis at least).
Really good card. Even for priests with deathrattles.
Seems good, although probably better in Priest than Warlock. Still, a great example of a good dual-class design:
In Warlock, this is clearly a curve-topper for a Zoo deck that effectively "upgrades" your lackeys and Fiendish Servants and Voidwalkers into 4/4s late game. There are some cards in the deck (current or theoretical) that are really good with this: it's awesome with Fiendish Servant and EVIL Genius as well as EVIL Cable Rat, Gleaming Augmerchant, and Beaming Sidekick in neutral.
It requires a lot of adaptation though - it's abit awkward in its intended role, since Dark Pharaoh Tekhan already makes lackeys into 4/4s. It also isn't a clear upgrade on some cards - sometimes, you NEED Voidwalker's taunt and demon status, or as another for instance it's great at getting Kanrethad Ebonlocke dead but it's a little embarrassing if you draw the Prime. It also invalidates several of Zoo-locks best cards; EVIL Recruiter gets harder to turn on if your lackeys are auto-dying, you lose the chance to use or trigger Magic Carpet. In particular, it makes Neferset Thrasher, Flame Imp, and Nightshade Matron terrible.
Still, something to keep an eye on, especially with Boneweb Egg - could make an EggLock return to standard with just a few more powerful Deathratlle effects.
But I'm way more excited about this in Priest. It is exciting with all the lackeys here too, especially EVIL Conscriptor, but it's also pretty interesting with stuff like Grandmummy. It's not a slamdunk right away though - for instance, in Galakrond Priest it isn't awful with any minion but it isn't super awesome either since again sometimes you really want the Taunt on Shield of Galakrond and it "downgrades" the bodies of Kronx Dragonhoof and Murozond the Infinite - so the question will be, is upgrading Disciple of Galakrond and Madame Lazul to a real body in the mid to late game and getting more instantaneous value out of Mindflayer Khaarj worth the tradeoff? We will see, but a few more strong Battle Cry or Death Rattle cards would really help.
I strongly doubt this will see more playtime and success in Priest rather than Warlock. This is obviously a card for a "zoo" style deck. You don't want to play this in a deck with a heavy curve, since this will downgrade every minion bigger than a 4/4, and even upgrading random 3/3s into 4/4s isn't worth much. This is only worth anything if you're playing a deck that can play many, many very small minions. Priest has some zoo cards, but they're generally weaker than in Warlock, there's fewer of them, and Priest doesn't have the "at-will card draw" of Warlock which lets Zoo keep up the pressure much, much longer than other classes with a very low curve.
More small minions = more Disciplinarian Gandling value. That's why this fits into Zoolock better IMO.
Yeah, good point. Thinking more about it - there just aren't enough good cheap deathrattles in Standard priest. You don't really want to blow up Conspicuous Infiltrator without the taunt getting any value (a 4/4 is more a sidegrade to a 2/6 Taunt). I mentioned Grandmummy but it is pretty mediocre unless you are some sort of go-wide aggro deck, which Standard priest isn't really set up to do. That means you just have neutral stuff like Serpent Egg or Loot Hoarder...and at that point, might as well go Warlock for Bonewebb Egg and Fiendish Servant and go for some sort of full Zoo-Egg-lock build.
