Blizzard just released a balance post regarding multiple classes and also one wild card
The following cards are being nerfed on August 26th:
- The mana cost of Conjurer's Calling is going up from (3) to (4).
- The mana cost of Luna's Pocket Galaxy is going up from (5) to (7).
- The mana cost of Dr. Boom, Mad Genius is going up from (7) to (9).
- The mana cost of Extra Arms is going up from (2) to (3).
- The mana cost of Barnes is going up from (4) to (5).
Quote from BlizzardNow that Saviors of Uldum is live, new cards have been introduced and powerful decks have started to surface. To make for a better ladder experience for Hearthstone players in this new expansion, we’ve decided to make the following card adjustments in an update next week:
Mage
While Conjurer’s Calling is a powerful tool that’s found in a number of Mage decks, when used in decks focused around cards like Mountain Giant and Sea Giant, it was creating extremely powerful board states at a point in the game where opponents didn’t have effective answers.
Increasing the mana cost of this card will make using both copies of the Twinspell card in a single turn significantly more difficult, postponing these potentially overwhelming turns until later in the game when the Mage’s opponent has more available resources to react to the board.
Buffing cards with the Rise of the Mech event was a big change in philosophy for us. While we are happy with the overall outcome of the changes, Luna’s Pocket Galaxy has proven to be an exception.
An early Luna's Pocket Galaxy can often leave opponents feeling helpless if late-game minions were drawn in subsequent turns. This has occurred more often than we had intended, therefore we're reverting its mana cost back to its original value of 7, as was the case before the Rise of the Mech event.
Warrior
We’d still like Dr. Boom, Mad Genius to be a great option for control Warrior decks looking to close out games, but right now the card gets played a bit too early. Increasing the mana cost to 9 should make it more difficult to find a good turn to play Dr. Boom, giving opponents time to make powerful plays as well.
Priest
During the Rise of the Mech event, Priest was one of the weaker classes in the game. Buffing Extra Arms gave Priest a powerful spell for the early game to enable some of their board-focused strategies.
With the release of Saviors of Uldum, Priest has access to many more powerful early game minions and has seen a large jump in both popularity and winrate. Between all of Priests buff spells and heal effects, it can be hard to fight for the board against them early in the game. Increasing the mana cost of Extra Arms back to 3 should give room for other decks to challenge them early on, while leaving the powerful Priest minions and combos untouched.
Neutral
Barnes has been a hot topic in Wild format discussions for quite some time now, especially regarding how oppressive this card can feel when facing certain Priest decks.
While we’re okay with Wild having a higher power level in general, Barnes stood out as too consistently powerful early in the game. Increasing his mana cost by 1 will let opponents have an easier time reacting, but still lets Barnes retain its identity as a way to summon specific minions early in the game.
Be sure to let us know what you think of these upcoming changes on the official Hearthstone Forums. We’ll see you in the tavern!
Luna's Pocket Galaxy never cost 6 mana. It originally cost 7 mana. They just reverted the buff.
Luna and Arms unplayable again. Congrats.
The absolute laziest way of nerfing by adjusting the mana cost.
Time to kick Barnes out of Big Priest.
It won't affect him at all. His cost isn't the problem. His effect is the actual problem.
The problem with Barnes is that Barnes can pull a big minion into the graveyard during the early game and resurrect it. Changing the cost of Barnes to 5 will make it unworthy in Big Priest decks since the risk of having a 3/4 minion during the late game is greater than its benefit after its nerf, and it also doesn't fit the curve anymore that Big Priest mostly plays Excavated Evil and Mass Hysteria on turn 5.
It wouldn't matter. I play exclusively wild and I'm telling you that the a 1 mana difference doesn't matter with Barnes. If the made him a 6-7 cost minion then ok, I could see it mattering because he just pulled a big minion 1-2 turns earlier, big deal, but a 1 mana cost increase isn't significant enough.
I might be wrong but then again big priest hasn't been a problem for me since this set came out.
I would have preferred Hall of Fame for Dr. Boom (so I could craft him in golden 4 free!) but I'm happy that Blizzard isn't afraid to nerf legendaries anymore.
this isnt a nerf, they should have called their so called nerf " mana changes only from now on"
thats why i been saying, f*** bliz**ard
Really disappointed..... Need more nerfs to Big Priest. Sigh.......
Not really a fan tbh. The Pocket Galaxy one might be justified, idk if it would still be too good at 6. But Conjurer's Calling is literally only OP because of the giants, with Mountain Giant being the more obvious offender. Mountain Giant has repeatedly proven to be a problem now so I just don't understand why they don't just Hall of Fame it. Turns out that mana cheating has never been a strategy that is "just good" and almost always is either completely useless or downright broken.
Priest is in a similar situation where Inner Fire is just the go-to finisher, although I'd much rather just see Northshire Cleric nerfed because it's the thing that gets priest to the combo consistently. Or maybe even nerf/change/HoF Wild Pyromancer cause it + Northshire/Acolyte + 2/3 spells is an early board clear or an insane card draw engine or both at the same time so it's literally never a dead card in any matchup. I feel like most of these changes took such an unnecessary direction which does just nothing against the root of their issues. The classic set will never rotate, yet they repeatedly nerf interesting cards from newer sets (which would rotate eventually) simply because they become broken combined with the classic set time and time again and it's getting annoying.
full dust refund on all the cards? this is the first wild adventure legendary nerf I can think of, and Luna's galaxy used to be 7 before the buff... I'd like my 1600 dust each though :p
Remember that this is not a Hall of Fame situation, so you don't get the dust unless you actually disenchant the cards.
Big priest it's nerfed but not that much, and it's a old cancer deck...
Instead The big mage, a relatively new strategy, has been completely destroyed... it's sad when a whole strategy is erased from the game this way...
Reno mage ? RIP all mages, unless they buff mage soon, we wont see any mage anymore until next enpansion .... mages lost ice block, lost all their major aoes last hall of fame rotation, they lost the elemental that gave armor, now they get 2 nerfs .... if they are even in tier 3 decks with these nerfs, that would be miracle, i guess welcome back all the onslaught of agro decks that everyone will cry about in 2 weeks
most deck is dead in rota. wild they stil llive
Prediction: 5 mana Barnes won't affect big priest that much.
Barnes = finally!
Conjurer's Calling = Better, but we'll see how much it slows mage
Luna's Pocket Galaxy = Blizzard straight up admitting this buff made the card broken is good
Extra Arms = Good
Dr. Boom, Mad Genius = not enough; should have removed Blast Shield, so I don't think this changes things for control warrior overall
