No, you seem to be misunderstanding, so let's try again.
The devs have said, across multiple videos, that they want each class to have an identity. They want each class to have something they excel at, that the other classes don't, and have a weakness to balance that. This doesn't mean they can ONLY do that thing, it means they're supposed to be the best at it.
Druid's identity was ramp, no else could even do it, let alone do it better. Then ramp was made non-viable. Their weakness was single target removal as they only had one guaranteed removal card that gave their opponent card draw. They are removing that card, despite the ramp mechanic remaining non-viable. They are taking the Druid's niche and expounding on their weakness.
Regardless of what anyone else thinks, Druid is bottom tier now, confirmed by HSReplay. Maybe that will change, but with the further nerfs coming, I'd guess it's just gonna replace Shaman as being the absolute bottom.
very that
I have to say, I'm pretty surprised by these cards. Crystal Power is obviously good - it's basically a 2-in-1 for two Priest cards that are both playable, and combining it with Keeper Stalldaris makes it incredible. Crystal Stag seems a better version of Zandalari Templar - yeah, you don't get a big minion as a payoff, but you get two rush minions and the condition is easier to meet because you've got Crystal Power and Healing Touch and can attack with your hero whenever you want to rack up some damage on your face.
Druid recently received a lot of armor cards, and at times has even overtaken Warrior as the tankiest class in Hearthstone. Now with rotation it's gunning for Priest and Paladin as the healer. I know a reasonable argument can be made for this as being consistent with WoW, but when you look at the basic and classic cards for Druid, the themes are far more focused on hero attacks, transforming/buffing minions, and ramping mana.
The heal and armor effects Druid traditionally had have been weaker than the other more dedicated Healer/Tank classes, and are there largely in service to the "hero attack" theme (i.e. you need to heal a little if you keep attacking with your face). I think the shift to being tankier and more of a healer reflects Blizzard's recognition that the ramp cards they provide Druid continue to be problematic (see nerfs to Innervate and Nourish - both of which I think were great) and necessitate a shift away from that core theme and a subsequent enhancement these other, originally much more minor themes. It will be interesting to see what they do with new ramp cards moving forward, and whether we see fewer of them.
The Stag is kinda similar to Scaleworm. Somewhat better, but somewhat worse.
some sinergy with splintergraft?
Forget about the stag - Holy smite/Arcane Shot with an upside is something Druid needs and wouldn't have in standard after Lesser Jasper Spellstone rotates. Also, another low cost card to play with the new Legendary that formerly only seemed to have wrath and Power of the Wild as options is a very good thing
True. But kind of difficult to consistently profit from it. Unless you go for beast master + primal instincts on turn 7. Following turn you might have two rush 6/8 on board. Kind of nice.
Do you mean Predatory Instincts? Then it would either be two rushing 6/12s or 6/10s depending on what triggers first - Untamed Beastmaster or Predatory Instincts.
playing minion based Druid deck is fun! I hope they push this thing in this expansion
(bye odd druid ;_; )
Injured Blademaster
Damaged Stegotron
Crystallizer
Ornery Tortoise
Just some ideas to make these cards work. It’s important to note you can even heal your opponent and their minions to enable the Stag’s battlecry, but that’s obviously counterintuitive.
Not actually that counter intuitive I can see being in a defensive position vs an aggro rogue that's used their weapon to clear minions a few times and having to heal them to activate crystal stag to kill their minions. Not something I thought about until now but something to consider if this card ever sees play. It's actually similar to not wanting to go face against even warlock when you have minions that could attack just because you don't want to activate their 4 mana 7/7.
Yeah great synergy with those, especially Crystallizer as a turn 1 Dire Mole that gives you that health drop. Also works with buffed hero power attack package, though that's still very meme.
Bring out the moonkins!
that spell is lowkey "fuck Fandral Staghelm, have the new druid legendary instead" because the Choose One effect is contradicting
Meanwhile at blizzard:
-We finally created the new cards to help the restore health Druid package
-You mean the restore health Paladin, right?
-Shit
What are you griping about? The 2 mana Paladin Twinspell basically gives that deck all the healing it will ever need.
Well there's just so much stuff you can make really.. Druid/Paladin/Priest are all healer classes in general so it's thematic to them to have healing.
but they are implemented differently..
Druid says restore while paladin and priest say heal, also paladin is healing himself mostly and with value payoffs, druid restores minions for tempo, and priest heals high hp minions or uses reverse healing.
Druid has had health restore since day 1, between Healing Touch and Ancient of Lore. Meanwhile, I think it's kind of been a mistake for Druid to have gotten so much Armor and only Armor over the past few years.
Would it be nice if Paladin had more cards for that odd package of theirs? Sure. But I'm glad to see Druids hopefully move away from such massive amounts of armor.
fun In odd druid atleast
in wild
