Ben Brode's Second Dinner Funded, New Office, Working On Marvel Title
In a video update today, Ben Brode alongside Hamilton Chu, Yong Woo, Jomaro Kindred, and Michael Schweitzer announced that Second Dinner is funded and ready to hire a team! For their first title they're partnering with Marvel.
They're currently looking for a Unity Client Engineer and a Technical Artist.
I may not have agreed with Brode at times, but his unquestioned enthusiasm is sorely missing at Bli$$ard. Definitely interested in what his new project will produce. Good luck.
Any opportunities for the Brode to school Blizzard, I'll happily support with my wallet.
I miss dat laugh
Is it just me or is Ben Brode getting sucked into the shovel ware industry...
Sorry became bigger than I thought. I only invested like 5mins for this. ^^
Marvelstone?
Skrulls vs Kree is the first expansion.
David Brevik leaves Blizzard after making Diablo 2. Makes Marvel Heroes....
This is going to go great!
yep, and he ended up leaving marvel heroes as well. and not long after gazillion went bankrupt.
was a great game as well. if they'd not diverted all their resources to the console version it may have been OK.
I remember though the last pre order was never even finished and no one on PC could get any kind of refunds. The xbox players got all their money back though, was BS.
I do miss that game. Was my prefered ARPG for its entire run (in a time where ARPG's were having a resurgence.)
It was still nearly 2 years between him leaving and gaz shutting down. That studio had more trouble with the owners of it rather than the creative leads.
Also there was about a 10 year gap between brevik leaving blizzard and marvel heroes coming out. Enough time for David to create 2 other studios and ship games only to leave when things went sideways.
when did you play, were you in a supergroup? I was in The Mavericks on PC. The game had such a cool community, was one of the nicest.
The forums could be pretty toxic at times though, and the worst part is that the people working for the company were sometimes some of the worst. I have heard tons of horror stories about the gazillion forums, and got caught up in some BS on there myself which led to me leaving the game for a few months.
needles to say that Gazillion wasn't perfect, but the game itself was great and the community for the most part was excellent.
Bests of luck to Ben and the team! Not a huge fan of Marvel myself but it'll be interesting to see where they go.
Marvel?Unity engine? Ben you left Hearthstone for that crap?
FYI, Hearthstone is developed in unity...

He left Blizzard because Activision cut bonuses. Blizzard is known to pay less than average in the job market, and they made up for it with large bonuses. All of the well known Blizzard staff were trickling away after their salaries were cut.
There is a difference between passion and making enough money to survive in today's economy.
I think the Ceo or some major figure at Blizz took his settlement to pay his staff bonuses one last time.
i am so excited to see how their game comes out, i will definitely give it a spin and try to support the company.
I am not even remotely qualified for either of those positions, but I would apply just to meet Ben. Love Marvel...looking forward to their game.
Infinity Gemstone: Heroes of Marvel
marvel heroes was already a game made by diablo 2 creator I believe (it was basically like diablo 2 with marvel characters, was an amazing game for time before it died)
I played for a couple of years on steam. the creator left though and the game eventually died off. I mean it had the players and stuff, but they had internal problems at the studio and disney pulled the plug. gazillion are now bankrupt.
Would be awesome if Brode picked up the torch and made a new Marvel Heroes though. it really was a good a game.
any other info other than a marvel title. is it a card game?
I know the guy who made diablo did a marvel themed diablo style game that was awesome... he left though and the game went down the pooper not long after.
RIP Marvel Heroes.
Shout out to "The Mavericks" (my old guild)
