This is a nice but very slow card for a secret hunter deck. Strong, but not that interesting, especially compared to DS Rexxar. The design seems timid, not that I don't like it, it just isn't a "change the way the game is played" like the Lich King expansion, which TBH...is the only reason i got back in to HS to begin with. Starting to get concerned about Lich King meta cards cycling out. All those legendary heroes. :(
Spell hunter is a real deck and this would fit right in so while I understand the so called hate on the card it really is good in that specific deck as you would get an insane board on turn 10 due to animal companions and to my sides and so on not to mention the secrets as well and it changes your hero power to an upgraded mage's so that's not bad either...we'll see.
People saying the hero power isn't "creative". .......SMH
People.....wake up...."creative" cards like DKs Rexxar and Guldan, Cube, Keleseth, and Spreading Plague are why the meta is more stale than it's ever been right now. Great ideas in theory. In practice they're overpowered and oppressive. They smother the game.
Cards like this are just what we need. The battlecry is potentially very powerful and effective but you have to build around it and limit your deck to maximize its potential. And it's not undercosted like Rexxar. The HP is pretty vanilla...but it's a hero power. They shouldn't be as powerful as playing a free high value card every turn like DK Rexxar and Guldan's HP!
Good point! At first I thought the Hero Power was not that great, but then I realized the battlecry was strong enough and what you said is very true. Strong, but simple cards like these might bring the meta diversity back
Yeah. And really if you think about it deal 2 damage to any target is a pretty strong hero power.
Time to call the Fun Police aka Chief Inspector! :p
LOL fun police. But yeah you're right. Zuljin will probably cast a lot of secrets so Chief Inspector could make his way into the meta in a big way!
This card is potentially insane in pretty much any hunter deck. But that aside, can we talk about how epic that reveal video was?
Zul'Saron is back. Can't belive I'm seeing so much hate about the card that's going to be in most of hunter decks in game. Just wait and see.
people are already forgetting that Yogg was in almost every deck until his eventual nerf, and this is much better than Yogg if you build your deck with just minimal synergy.
I'm glad they gave this card reveal to the same people who did the Luna's Pocket Galaxy as it's reveal video is pretty funny like it was that time.
That being said, this card isn't going to see much play until DK rexxar leaves. There can be a case made to run both DK rexxar and Zuljin, but this makes the curve sloppy because you really want to keep DK rexxar's HP while using this card's battlecry, something which is sadly going to be really awkward. If this card were to work well, it wouldn't be in most existing decks because Spell hunter uses too many possibly detrimental spells (such as Unleash the Hounds flooding your board, Flanking Strike killing a 3/3 to summon a 3/3, etc).
One possible inclusion for this card though could be secret hunter since all the secrets are going to be played again alongside summoning a bunch of wolves from the Greater Emerald Spellstone. While most secret hunters run Flanking Strike, it should not kill your own minions a ton and assembling a secret tree and summoning 4+ wolves is definitely worth the 10 mana. I have faith this card will work eventually, but right now I'm not feeling it.
That reveal video tho... love the game play, best reveal vid ever! :D
Very very slow even if there's OTK possibility with double Revenge of the Wild.
Spiteful hunter in wild with Call of the Wild can be possible with this card.
Hearthstone community: waaaaah Bloodreaver is so op, that batttlecry and Hero power are just too much, pls nerf Warlockstone
also the Hearthstone community: playing Zul'jin doesn't instantly win you the game in any match up, why is Blizzard printing this filler garbage
It would be funny if you weren't so fucking dense.
Maybe this isn't strong but it's funny: you can replay The Marsh Queen with Zul'jin
For all the people hating on the Hero Power.... Dinomancy says hello
That's worse.
Thanks for all the downvotes guys.... I look forward to referring to this post when Dinomancy Hunter joins the meta
This card is kinda iffy, if you want my honest opinion. The card literally means you can't put any burn in your deck (which means no Deadly Shot, Kill Command, Hunter's Mark, Flanking Strike, Powershot or Explosive Shot) and Tracking junks 4 of your cards when this arrives. It's like the worst aspects of Yogg-Saron and Grand Archivist, in that you have to pray the Trackings you played don't junk cards you needed, your burn spells don't end up killing something valuable on your board, and you have no control over the whole thing. I can understand, memewise, if the stars aligned and you luck out on an Animal Companion/To My Side/Call of the Wild wombo combo finisher, but with such a restrictive manner of playing, this card is unfortunately VERY niche and doesn't warrant a 10 mana cost or a targetable Hero Power. This is perhaps the WORST thing you could put in your Spell Hunter Deck (because so much shit could go wrong with it) and doesn't hold a candle to Rexxar. Hate to say it, but Hunter got screwed YET AGAIN and has to keep relying on face decks. Maybe this will find a use in a future meta, but right now, with all of Hunter's AOE's requiring targets sans Explosive Trap, Multi Shot and Crushing Walls, this is the wrong meta for Hunter to get such a restrictive card. This would have been better off on something like a Priest, Warrior or Mage, where you can control such a restriction many times improved.
