Quote from DaxxarriRikkar stood on the intricately cobbled path and gazed up at the fabled Gurubashi Arena. Ever since he was a little troll, he’d dreamt of being here, preparing to compete at the legendary Rumble. As the crowd streamed past him toward the gates, he paused to savor the moment: the thrill of anticipation on the air, the roar of the crowd in the stands, the grimaces of pain as chumps paid the scalper for last minute tickets. Nothing in the world was like Rastakhan’s Rumble!
Rikkar had spent his whole life preparing for this moment (and bought his tickets two years ago. He wasn’t foolish). Last time the Rumble was held, Rikkar was small enough to watch the action from his father’s shoulders, screaming at the top of his lungs along with the crowd as he witnessed High Priest Thekal clinch the final for the Tigers over the Sharks. He knew it then: someday HE would be down on the sands, and the crowd would be roaring HIS name!
As he joined the long line leading into the arena, the team posters that adorned the walls caught his eye. They were pristine, unlike his well-loved, but creased and faded collection back at the village.
The Tigers! Now there was a team! Rikkar could see himself earning Shirvallah’s favor and wearing the gold. He’d been training all his life: he had the eye of the tiger . . . the thrill of the fight . . . the wing of a bat . . . and a few other animal parts, just in case. Rikkar came prepared.
One thing you could say for the Bats, Hir’eek’s team knew how to get the job done. And shriek. And do absolutely anything it takes to win. Rikkar had to respect the initiative.
Why be a Bat when you could be a Rhino though? No fancy tactics or thinking. Got a problem? Smash it! Don’t got a problem? Smash it anyway! Plus, everybody loves War Master Voone. Not only are Voone’s parties legendary, rumor has it that he’s got friends in high places. Blackrock Mountain is pretty high up, right?
Rikkar couldn’t believe it. Twenty years later, he was finally part of the crowd thronging into the Gurubashi Arena. His heart was resolved: he wasn’t just here to watch the spectacle this time. He was here to compete! Somehow. . . .
He just needed a chance to prove himself!
But which team would he join? Which Loa would he pledge himself to?

One of the designers, Liv Breeden, tweeted a screenshot of the Overkill tooltip - it reads "deal excess damage on your turn for a bonus." Here's a link to the image -

If the opponent trades into your Ticket Scalper on their turn, the Overkill won't trigger.
good to know, but was assuming that given they didn't even give that feature to Darius Crowley
Wow it's a terrible card then... thought it would at least be good for arena
Thanks for this, it clarifies a lot of the speculation!
Not sure if anyone noticed, Ticket Scalper had a cameo appearance in the last Wronchi animation
A 5/3 on turn 4, without rush, there's a high chance it won't survive for triggering the overkill ... it might be a soft taunt, though.
Doesn't overkill trigger regardless of if you attack or not?
it should trigger
Overkill will only trigger if they attack you with a lower-hp minion. Not if they Kill Command, Hellfire, or Flanking Strike you, which this card is a great candidate for.
Fairly certain Overkill only triggers on your turn, as you are the attacker / aggressor. At least I thought that was the intent of the keyword.
How many seconds did it take for them to come up with Heavy Metal?
I really dislike the odd/even mechanic and feel it was a big mistake to greenlight it. Now every card is discussed in terms of odd and even and the game becomes even harder to design and balanced for the already beleaguered Team 5.
Was thinking this too - can't help but think the reason Heavy Metal costs 6 and not 5 is due to the popularity of Odd Warrior
-
Not gonna lie, i would be excited if an even warrior deck pops up because of this.
jokes on them
i don't really see it. This could be 5-mana and still wouldn't be much better even without Odd Warrior around.
There was an Even Recruit Warrior on the front page a few months ago. Got me to Rank 5 and I brought it to my local tourney and won!
Odd/Even are important, but they are not as broken as other mechanics are, because Odd/Even are just an improvement of an archetype, which retains, crucially, the same weaknesses as before.
Some other mechanics instead, like many DK cards, are far more unhealthy, because they single-handedly give continuous lategame value that their deck would not have, normally.
Just look at current top deck: Deathrattle Hunter. Not an Odd/Even deck.
I want confirmation on how Overkill works. If my opponent uses a 3/3 to kill my Ticket Scalper, will that trigger the Overkill? Or does Overkill require that the minion attack and kill, like the Boogeymonster. If it's the former, then the card might see play in aggressive decks. It forces your opponent to use a spell/weapon, give you a huge tempo advantage, or sacrifice a high health minion.
