A Co-Op Brawl This Week - A New Year Bash
The party is here! Work together with another player to decorate the tavern and kickoff a New Year's party!
No idea why we're celebrating a new year... in August. Oh well, enjoy your free Classic pack.
Trivia
- This is a brand new brawl in name.
- This brawl is the same as "A Mammoth of a New Year" which we saw late March 2017.
- Party Crasher auto-attacks contribute to progress on the Deal 100 Damage to Enemy Heroes daily quest.
How it Works
- No deck creation this time, you get to play as either Valeera the Rogue or Malfurion the Druid - chosen at random when the game starts.
- If either of you get low, try and toss some heals out. Use them wisely!
- The game ends when one of you die. Don't die!
Phase 1
- Your initial goal is for you and your partner to decorate the party. You do this by using your Hero Power to add decorations.
- The Hero Power uses all your currently available Mana to go towards the decorations. In total, you must spend 25 mana together.
- In this phase, Party Crashers (4 mana 3/5 with Taunt) will spawn each turn. They attack face so deal with them.
- Once the party has been decorated, a Boss (Pinata Golem) will spawn. He cannot be targeted by spells.
- Don't use all your hard removal in this phase. The crashers are pretty easy to deal with and don't hurt as hard as they do in Phase 2!
Phase 2
- The boss spawns! He has 85 Health that you must take out together with your partner.
- Your hero power has changed! You can now spend 2 mana to deal 3 damage to the boss.
- The Party Crashers continue to spawn but now.. now they gain +2/+2!
- Do not under any circumstance fill your board. You want to have a slot open, otherwise, you get board cleared to make room the boss.
- Sometimes you will receive a treat when attacking the Pinata. These can help you draw cards, heal, or destroy Party Crashers.
- There is an AoE that goes out which deals 2 damage to everything that isn't a Party Crasher. Seems to happen either early on or later.
Discuss This Week's Brawl
We've got a thread up on our Tavern Brawl forums if you want to discuss strategies and such!
but one weird interaction that got me
using this with 1 mana give one
making it from 16 to 18 like what?
then my "friend" use 2 mana and its reset to like 11 another like what?
i dont know what happen but not blizzard to put blame on, maybe just server or the connection?
When I used my hero power, it would sometimes subtract from the progress. We were at 22/25, my partner emoted me to tell me he was ready, so I used it with 6 mana and it went to 16/25. This weirdness happened every single time I used it, but it seemed to be fine when my partner used it. We spent over 60 mana trying to get to 25.
ikr this seems weird
p.s. my first match was with SIlentStorm @ Kaladin
and that time i DC like shit because my pc wont behave
so im sorry Kaladin if the brawl upset you
I also had it randomly reset. Was at ~19, hit hero power for another ~6, ended turn. Then looked and it was at ~8. I guess we found a bug, can we get a golden legendary, as a thank you???
Blizzard trying to let us make some new friends. <3
I really like this brawl it's just RNG will you get a partner who understand what "Co-op" means or not. Still 2 outta 3 people were normal and third one tryed his best to cuck me.
Actually that's wrong. In some circumstances it will be beneficial to have your board cleared. My "ally" filled his board with small minions, and with the clearing of his board huge party crashers were destroyed, which took us from a bad board state to a much better one.
Played 5 games on different realms and accounts and every opponent played well with me together.
Maybe lucky, but i enjoyed this brawl.
First opponent, and we immediately got along and were able to win. It was very close, but with smart cooperation between the opponent and myself, we were able to outsmart the brawl :) Very fun and engaging. I wish Blizzard would think of more co-op brawls.
So when the pinata is destroyed, the enemy hero is also destroyed. The win doesnt only go to the player who deals the final blow right?
My opponent did the final blow, and he was the one exploding. I think every player sees the other exploding, and that's probably just a heartstone internal workaround to make every player "win"
Exactly!
Fortunately, I came across a nice partner, so we quickly managed to do it.
Just read the comments here. Seems like I was incredibly lucky to win with a random "opponent" on a first try.
Also, New Year in august? Really? I guess it's because Christmas came early for Team 5 with our sweet double preorder money.
What do you expect? With these expansions is turning into an even more casual aggro face RNG unskilled kid card game
i had the luck to get a partner, who knew what this Brawl was about, too. with this basis, these Brawls are pretty funny, imo.
Nothing like a co-op brawl to lose faith on the intelligence of Hearthstone players
If only that was only true for Hearthstone coop-brawls players...
That's not entirely true. On my first game I got someone who, at first didn't know what was going on. It wasn't until I healed their face and showed me only destroying Party Crashers.
The Brawl is rocky and doesn't give much info, just have faith in your partner and guide them. it is a co-op brawl after all. :)
It is, sadly it doesn't help much that you can't actually communicate with them other than using the emotes, which a lot of people take them as bm for granted, regardless of how much help you give them and try to make it obvious that you're both in it together.
I don't blame the players entirely because Blizzard could make co-op brawls in general more co-op friendly, but then again people don't want to feel like Blizzard is calling them dumb and will probably ignore the instructions anyway.
