Dean Ayala on Shudderwock: Revisiting the Topic Early Next Week
Dean Ayala tweeted this evening that the team is going to be looking into Shudderwock feedback early next week.
How do you feel about Shudderwock? I can definitely agree with the animations being a bit on the long side and would definitely at least appreciate a less excruciating death.
Quote from Dean AyalaWe’ll be reading more feedback over the weekend and will revisit the Shudderwock topic early next week. Checking out both animation timings and feedback on the deck playstyle itself. Let us know what you think and enjoy Witchwood!
The card is fine and even if it is a little powerful we need more than 1 week of data to judge it. On the other hand, for the love of god fix it so we don't have 10 minute long turns thanks to his animation bug.
Just fix the animation. This deck isn't too OP, it has under 50% win ratio against Cubelock and aggro
Nerf it just so I can collect dust from it.
The best echo card of the expansion LUL
Back to your home in the dumpster, Shaman.
The deck is fine it's no worse than Exodia Mage the only thing that needs to be changed is to fix that animation
Yes it's no worse. But exodia mage is an uninteractive deck. I thought we concluded by now that lack of interactivity makes the game bad.
And don't call freeze and aoe interactivity. Hearthstone has a board for a reason.
Me and my minion deck am not just a wave in your tower defense game.
And don't tell me I should play otk decks too. Just imagine for a second how hearthstone would look like if games were only otk vs otk.
If they nerf shudderwock itself, I think it should be 1 mana higher
also I have a golden one, so 3200 dust back XD!
Shudderwock is not that problem, it is Grumble worldshaker. One Shudderwock usually doesn't kill you. It's multiple instances of him, what does. If they nerf Grumble to return minions to your hand with full cost, or does not return copies of it self (like Shudderwock, does not return other Shudderwocks to your hand), it would be pretty well balanced. Still little bit op, but not game breaking.
No it would just make shaman dumpster tier again, they just need to fix the animation time. It’s just like exodia mage it only has an advantage over aggro decks
No, the combo is so broken that you autolose against the deck with any control deck. Kill them before turn 9 or 10 or lose the game.
My take on shudderwock;
It is an otk that requires atleast 4 cards, a lot of them could be at the bottom of the deck. If you look at HSreplay.net you can see that the deck a few decks have a 50%+ (53%) win rate. That is not a lot if you compare it to paladin (70% win rate).
The otk itself takes forever but as long more people are playing paladin or face hunter the less this deck wil see play. It's actually (almost) only a control killer because it can't survive the floods of paladin.
Agreed. The only thing that makes it not ok is the generic hearthstone mechanic of battlecry that can't be prevented (no instants, no faster triggers). Cubelock could get his demons hexed or silenced. That's the only difference.
Nonetheless I agree that Shudderwock is ok and it doesn't need any nerfs, just because Hearthstone players are a bunch of whiners.
I think it is important for decks to have counters so I hope they don't completely kill the ability to have an OTK deck. Shudderwock feels like it is intended to fill the Exodia mage slot in the meta (now that a lot of the random spell generation needed for the quest has rotated out). This type of Combo deck requires you to draw most of your deck while trying to stay alive and can be easily killed by a strong agro or midrange deck, but is an option if the meta is too control heavy. But, like Exodia Mage, this only works if the deck isn't too good.
The animations though .... how long will this go on ...
The deck will found it nemesis soon enough. The gnomferatu + warlock echo + meat + portal destroy the deck completely. Its only 2 days into the expansion i think they should see how things develop first before nerfing it.
