Hearthstone Update for February Contains New Events, Possible Balance Changes
A new patch has been confirmed for next month which at the very least will contain some new "cool" events Ben Brode has confirmed earlier today via Twitter.
- If the team decides to make balance changes, that is the earliest any will happen.
- We wonder if this will include the arena-only cards for future usage.
Is there anything specific you'd like to see changed in a possible balance update?
Quote from Ben BrodeBeen reading discussions about balance; we have an update coming next month which includes some cool events, and that is when any balance changes would happen. We'll be sure to announce any changes as the patch gets closer. See you at the HCT World Championship next week!
And if you do use the weapon and next turn summon him he is basically a 5 manna 5/7 stealth.
patches should have been nerfed ages ago...
There really isn't a feasibly balanced way to change the card. If you take away the ability to be tutored from the deck then it literally is a Stonetusk Boar by another name & no longer serves to be restricted to legendary status. If you made it 2 mana then it just makes matches playing with or against Patches more polarizing if one or more players draws him in the opening hand.
Take away the auto summon which is really the problematic thing, and make it cost 0
or 1 mana, and battlecry: draw a card.
As long as this card exists every aggro deck will play it.
For now Reynad's take on nerfing Patches the Pirate was the most convincing for me : he proposed to give him a "Die at the end of turn." line.
Forces the player to use it for trade and rely less on 1 mana pirates only as far as one-drop goes (I mean it'll still work with 1 mana pirates but it should then be avoided as a 1 drop when you're playing first), and significantly reduces the buff effects abuse you can make off of him, mainly in Tempo Rogue using Prince Keleseth and pitching out a 3/3 or 4/4 Patches + a pirate, which completely rapes the early game's numbers and logic.
I would disagree with saying that Patches is too too broken or should be nerfed just because it's extremely popular; I just think the card is problematic for the game if it contribues a heck of a lot to making early game pressure potential extremely high (which he does with buffs), or if it creates some form of power creep kind of effect on the game where playing at least two 1-mana Pirates and Patches in a deck is strictly better in any aggro deck than playing a given good and playable 1-drop (which Patches does again as no 1-drop can beat a 3/2 or a 2/3 for 1 in term of value for aggro decks).
Dude many people here have no logic whatsoever :
Doomguard was always a balanced card. It provides a spectacular tempo for mana cost but it looses you a ton of value so it should only be played in aggro decks .
Now that warlock has this new ridiculous recruit mechanic alongside the new weapon what do people want to nerf / hall of fame ?? Poor old doomguard.
Am I the only one who thinks that if a card has been well balanced since pretty much forever and new cards come out that have broken synergy with that card maybe it's the new cards fault ??
Surely it makes more sense to change the other cards rather than Doomguard.
Judging from previous "balance" change they will nerf animal companion for it's almost always an autoinclude in every hunter deck. I'm sure all those pro players they gonna consult will agree with me. I'm sooo excited to see this....
All I want to see is a Corridor Creeper nerf, so I can disenchant 3 of them for 1,2k dust.
A dollar if I call it. Corridor Creeper is friendly minions only and early HoF for Doomguard.
I do suppose to increase my chances of being right, I have to pick some boring card from a trash tier class that isn't in this expansion and not widely played. Sparring Partner nerfed to 2/1.
