I'm actually an Exodia Mage player, and there's enough counters to that slow lumbering deck to not worry too much about it. probably the Control Freeze Mage and Secret Mage will remain superior unless some nonsense gets revealed today. even if Exodia Mage does become tier 1, at least it's a change from what we had so far, metawise.
I think Pirate Warrior can still use this new card, because with the reveal of Defile, Warrior's new weapon and Spirit Lash they might need a card like that to stay in the game after getting boardwiped. to me it looks like one of the better topdecks you could have if your opener got wiped.
If this and Phantom Freebooter are the only two cards that Pirate Warrior gain, maaayybeee we'll be okay.... I hope...
This is really good in Pirate Warrior though. If they were to ever run any kind of card draw, this would be it. Two cards for 2 mana is really good, and both those cards being weapons is pretty good when you're hitting face every bloody turn.
Looks like they are pushing pirate warrior to be a mid-range deck; hopefully it's not too strong there.
Why would you want to play midrange PW, when aggro is what that deck does best?
maybe one copy in pirate warrior cuz it really sucks if can't get ur wep out early. but for sure Wont see play in CW cuz they play slow anyways
Playing slow doesn't mean that you don't need card draw and removals. Moreover, you're drawing specific cards, which is obviously a very strong effect. Man, this card is perfect for cw.
Blackwater Pirate this girl will see some play paired with Upgrade!, pirates will get stronger
Hmm, who knows, for some midrange/tempo warrior (not pirate) can be good, mby in cotrnoll... but where will be this card rly brutal? Arena peeps, arena .)

The thing is, they won't play this on turn 1 - 5 and loose tempo. They'll play this on turn 6 six, when you just thought he was about to run out of cards, and that you would be able to stabilize and win. But now they draw into 20 extra face damage, that you can only prevent with taunts or Oozes.
Basically this improves Pirate Warriors chances of closing out the game with that extra chunk of face damage. Did we really need that to happen? I don't think so.
Honestly, I cannot see pirate warriors add this to their decklists. PW is a deck that relies heavily on a good starting hand and want to finish the game as quickly as possible. This card does not help that strategy. They already have enough cards they do not want to draw in their openings: mortal strike, arcanite reaper, patches, heroic strike and few other cards.
but you could increase the odds to draw Arcanite Reaper to finish the game.
Yes I can see it being strong at t6 or t7 where PW usually are out of cards, and they then play it to gain the last bit of damage to finish off the opponent. But it's just a way too slow card for them to get it early on which makes it strong in certain situations and a dead card in other situations. If there is one thing PW cannot afford it is dead cards.
I've seen lots of PW armor up 'cause they don't have anything to play. Instead of this, they can draw with this and thin their deck to support their weapon.
I have seen a lot of them armor up as well, and those rounds are very expensive for them because they lose initiative. Weapons are not strong by themselves. Weapons are strong when you have minions that control the board or goes face. If you play this one t2 or t3 as a PW you give initiative to your opponent which they hate.
I am not saying it is a terrible card for PW, it is just a slow card in a deck that goes for the win after 4-7 rounds. Arcanite Reaper is not a terryfing card if you have the board with 2 minions at t5.
Well I'm just speculating. I've never played PW, only played against. Maybe it would better be fit to a Midrange build, we'll see.
I'm very surprised. Most of the cards which were released so far go in a control direction. So that games take more time. But this card looks for me like an unwanted(?) push for pirate warrior. As there biggest issue is card drawing - and this card will help out and fix the issue.
don't really like it when they give even more weapon interactions to warrior. It just devolves into facerace tooo easily
tbh I don't see this being good in pirate warrior. When you play it its 2 mana do nothing. Also, while you have one weapon equipped, the other one is dead until you used the first one up. This is probably OP in some kind of tempo warrior that runs 2 axes and 2 Blood Razors.
