HearthPwn Card Design Competition Season 4 - Death and Taxes
This week's card design competition submission phase is live and the theme is Death and Taxes.
This weeks theme comes from Bibikis, whose "Veiled Informant" was the winner of our "A Shocking Revelation!" competition. It should be noted that this week's competition has some really important rules that you should read to make sure you don't get disqualified!
Competition-Specific Restrictions:
- This week, we have a brand new keyword for you to use! This being a brand new mechanic, there are no existing examples, but the theme's creator did provide us with a rough original example:
Here are a couple of clarifications on the finer points of how Costs works:
- Cards with a Cost cannot be played unless their Cost can be paid. These are not like Soulfire or Doomguard, who can still be played even when their intended drawbacks won't do anything because you have no cards in your hand.
- Costs are assumed to be targeted if possible. If something Costs a friendly minion or a card in your hand, for example, it's assumed that you target a friendly minion or select the card in your hand unless the Cost specifies something random.
- For the sake of realism and consistency with the existing game, a card can only have one targeted effect. For example, if a Spell has a targeted Cost, then its effect cannot be targeted. Likewise, if you want your Minion to have a targeted Battlecry, then its Cost should not be targeted.
- Just like other existing effects, Costs are assumed by default to apply to elements on the battlefield rather than in your hand. For example, just as Shattered Sun Cleric is limited to friendly minions in play rather than ones in your hand, so would the above Devilsaur's "Cost: A friendly Beast." require you to target and destroy a friendly Beast in play. It's fine for Costs to destroy cards in your hand, deck, etc., but then they need to say so specifically.
Your card must have the Cost keyword. Cards that merely interact with the Cost keyword will not qualify, like how Undertaker would not qualify as having Deathrattle.
Submit Your Card Design Today!
Head on over to the submission thread to read the rules and submit your entry. Also be sure to check out this week's discussion thread.
I wanted to make a card that was a Double Edged sword almost great, but not 100%.
Undo Yogg
Overload is basically this. You can think of it as Cost:"X" Mana crystals next turn.
Shaman Class
Cost: The respect of others.
Fel Converter
5 Mana
8/8
Your opponent draws 5 cards
Cost: The top 5 cards of your deck
Behold! A card that actually rewards you for trading!
There's no cost portion to this card..
It's basically a Wild Growth but with 1 overload and destroys your opponent's mana crystal. How is that effect worth 1 mana? It's not only an easy way to spoil your opponents curve, but also if you play both copies on 10 mana it denies Yogg, Deathwing or N'Zoth.
I personally loved Antique Healbot and I liked that every class was able to use it. I think every class needs more options for Healing.
I really like your submission. You can make it even clearer with a bit of rewording like:
Cost: Destroy a friendly Mech. (similar to the demo card)
Battlecry: Restore 8 Health to your hero. (cause it's not a cost)
A new card that will help with the new Call of the Wild nerf which mana cost is increased from 8 to 9 mana. You do draw a card on turn 8, but your turn is immediately over.
Purify (spell)
Cost: A Priest cardslot
sheeit dude, u nailed it
no the best one is this
cost: deal 15 damage to your face and negate all heals and armor for the game
for a 0 mana 1/200000 with taunt and spell evasion / fairy effect thing like faerie dragon
#theblackknight
Feels like every class is like Warlock now lol
like this:
Exodia: 10 mana 10-10 Battlecry: Win the game. Cost: A friendly Murloc, Beast, Mech, Dragon and a Pirate.
Synergy with all tribes decks :)
Totens and Demons aren't neutral tribes. You can't play a Demon in a paladin deck
