To add onto what is being said, its partly because certain cards getting nerfed or fame'd, usually because of older cards and their interactions with newer ones. That those that get nerfed or fame'd result in reduced creativity in the pool as certain cards are less valuable to run in general or that you can't run anymore unless you want to go into wild.
What happened to the term, "unique"? Didn't that predate Pokemon and magic? I remember ccgs as old as legend of the five rings using that term for "1 per deck" only decks.
MTG is the granddaddy and what really what started the whole craze in the first place. Even L5R is a year younger than MTG. And what you are referring to, unique/legendary is different from singleton/highlander as unique/legendary refers to a card being restricted by the rules for how many you can play, while singleton/highlander which refers to intentionally playing a single copy.
But I personally prefer at least for hearthstone, the term "Reno Decks", after Reno Jackson himself who started it all from League of Explorers as his name is much more synonymous with the deck-building style.
So you're on that level when you can control rng? I have no choice but accept defeat then. That's beyond my capabilities.
Basically the goal is to have in your opening hand, mulligan included: Ship's Cannon + 1-cost Pirate (N'Zoth's First Mate on a good opener or Patches the Pirate on a "mediocre" opener). Its actually very advantageous to go second as you get the coin and pull it off on your turn 2. Keeping a Warpath in your hand is good for basically stopping what your opponent is doing. A god opener would involve 2x Ship's Cannon and 1x N'Zoth's First Mate but drawing zero Patches the Pirate as that is basically 21 damage split amongst enemies which can result in the opponent conceding. Getting a Skycap'n Kraag early instead of a second Ship's Cannon is also a very potent play that can also result in opponent conceding. From there it just involves things like Salty Dog and beating your opponent's face in.
A bit late to this brawl, and the midsummer fire festival as I didn't really have time to be playing. Man I didn't know it was possibly to make a randomized brawl into a non-randomized one. Or that it would literally result in a Rock-Paper-Scissors fight between two Pirate Warriors.
I barely got to play anything that wasn't pirate warrior. Most of the time if I lost to a non-pirate deck, my next match would literally be me getting rocked by pirates and forced to play pirates again.
Oh hey Corrupt the Waters exists. Pay an extra 2 mana and you get all 4 keywords for it and since it is a battlecry it also qualifies for completing the quest if needed.
How is this being lowballed so hard? Its a 3m 3/2 that on battlecry of giving you a random legendary minion in your hand. Like this just gives rogues a new card to play that they can do. Play Brightwing, get a random legendary, bounce back to hand with Shadowstep or Youthful Brewmaster or Waggle Pick. then play it again.

The evolve guy named Badseed or something. I've ran into the guy seven times on my Shaman runs and he is just a pain to deal with.
