It's a grind I'm not putting myself through again... don't know if it's the same for everyone, but for me there are no double-stars for win streaks D5 and above, just one star up and one star down.
Tier 1 decks at that level have, I'd say, very close to 50% win rate (as everyone is playing T1 decks). Needless to say, these are all veteran players, with strong expensive wild decks - and they don't make silly mistakes. The usual - Secret Mage, Odd Demon Hunter, Discard Warlock, Pirate Warrior...
Let's say I manage to have 52% win rate. That means I would have to play 100 games to net 4 stars, or 400 games for 16 stars... no, thanks, I'll climb to D5 and take it easy for the rest of the month.
At D5/D1 level, it's a numbers game. There are no win streaks and double-stars, just one up and one down. So, with a 60% winrate deck, there should be 3 games won for 2 lost. And that stats is for playing the deck perfectly, no room for any blunders.
The decks are more/less of a rock-paper-scissors principle, there is no magic one that beats everyone - so it's just grinding. Guess for us with scarce time it makes sense to play with an aggro deck, so a game lasts a few minutes max (as opposed to two Res-Priests meeting each other, the thing turns into a test-cricket game: five days that ends in a draw).
I'd say it would also make sense for a newcomer to pick an easy to play deck, especially at the D5 to D1 level. It takes some time to master all the tricks and combinations of an intricate e.g. Warlock deck, as opposed to e.g. Mech Paladin (or maybe Secret Mage), which is relatively a no-brainer...
I heard people's recipes to blind-concede like 20-30 games at D5 (where they can't drop any further), then they get matched by worse players/decks and win-streak quickly to legend.
That is pure genius, bro. Costs next to nothing, doesn't need any thinking, average game takes like 4 minutes, took me three evenings to propel from Bronze to Diamond 5 - at a 69% winrate.
Wholeheartedly recommended to anyone who doesn't have time, but wants to pocket all the monthly rewards.
I'm one of the the guys who plays the Resurrect Priest :)
There are 3 Warlock decks that I often lose against -
The one based on Rin, the First Disciple, so I get my deck killed half-way. It's then a mad race between my getting an Entomb and him trying to kill his own minion.
The aggro one based on discarding and redrawing cards, where the guy somehow gets two Doomguard fairly early in the game.
The one based on Mecha'thun - I probably lost every single one of those.
Otherwise, general rule - either do most of the damage before turn 5 (like a DH does), or stall if you can until you polymorph the board with e.g. Kazakus on turn 10.
I can't really assess and it may well be I'm out of my depth here, but as the man above says - all good if you survive 3-4 turns.
I like playing (wild) Activate the Obelisk and Awaken the Makers combo, with no duplicate deck.
I find very good cards against the aggro's are Unstable Ghoul and Explosive Sheep, so I mulligan for those as soon as I see the DH. Afterwards, Resurrect and Shadow Visions (to get a copy of Resurrect), Twilight's Call, and if you manage to cast Grave Rune on Unstable Ghoul - you are sorted. Most early DH minions are 1-2 health. By that time, it's nice to draw a Reno, to insta-complete Activate the Obelisk on turn 6 (or 5+coin).

lol, spot-on - thanks :)
Reshuffled the whole thing now

I think I'll just stop stressing at D5 this month... after that, the grind increases exponentially and is (imho) just not worth the rewards

Don't know, bro... that card is such a lottery imho, not really part of the strategy. Maybe try with a Wicked Witchdoctor.

Is the matchup AI-rigged by Blizzard?
I heard people's recipes to blind-concede like 20-30 games at D5 (where they can't drop any further), then they get matched by worse players/decks and win-streak quickly to legend.
Anyone tried?

I hear Even Shaman is pretty good, I'm just too stingy to spend the dust on Vessina and try
