posted a message on Altruis has too be changed not nerfed

Demon Hunter cards are super OP right now because they HAVE TO BE. It has classic cards and 1 expansion and has to compare with other classes that have multiple expansions. That said, I'd agree that the most logical nerf for Altruis the Outcast would be to revert the previous nerf and just take away the face damage. And I'd also agree that Altruis the Outcast isn't really the problem. For Altruis the Outcast to be effective, there (usually) has to be some type of setup and that setup makes Altruis the Outcast look OP. I'd say Priestess of Fury is WAY stronger and one card I haven't heard a lot of complaining about is Twin Slice. Twin Slice is fucking nuts! It is usually the reason why Altruis the Outcast gets that 1 or 2 extra damage to provide lethal. It is also one of the best mana cheats and activators in the game! Twin Slice makes Satyr Overseer a 6/4 on turn 3 while possibly c;learing the enemies board or putting down an extra 1 or 2 face damage that turn. Glaivebound Adept on 5 or even 4 with coin is something most decks just can't deal with.

    Just my 2 cents.

posted a message on How do I beat Demon Hunter?

Egg Warrior is really good against them, but it is a harder deck to navigate honestly.

I actually played a bit of Tempo Demon Hunter just to see how good it is and it is honestly ridiculous. I played around 30 games at Plat to Diamond level and lost like 5! You just find a way to win as DHs have so much damage potential.

Another good deck is Face Hunter. Hunter was basically the only deck I lost too.

There isn't any evidence to support the claim that they are NOT doing it. And there's plenty of reasons why they are doing it.

There isn't any evidence to support the claim that your mother is NOT a Nazi war criminal.... Do you see the fault in reasoning here?

Oh, you were referring to the old Discover rule. The question is: Is it RNG manipulation or a mechanic that Discover cards used to favour class cards? I mean, it wasn't hidden information, everyone knew it. That's what made Stonehill Defender so good in Paladin. Removing the class bonus actually made Discover cards even more RNG heavy.

Isn't what we're discussing here whether Blizzard is manipulating RNG in secret?

From an AVID player, I (and most players) had NO CLUE that the Discover cards (not every Discover card, mind you) had different weights applied to class cards. But as I stated in my 1st post, the question posed was too general and I wouldn't consider weighted probabilities for Discover anything sinister by Blizzard. I'd agree it was more of a mechanic (poorly thought out btw) that would've influenced a players decision if they knew that instead of 10 class and 20 neutral cards there was actually 40 class and 20 neutral cards in the pile (so to speak). So I would consider this an aspect of "randomness", but semantics aside.

That said, as in my 1st post, NO Blizzard is NOT manipulating RNG as a balance mechanic. There is literally no benefit to the company financially or LOGICALLY to do so. Sometimes what seems like BS is just a coincidence and RNG is far easier to blame than skill.

So the question made is far to general. Do they manipulate randomness? Yes, they have already admitted to doing so with cards like Dr. Boom, Mad Genius. They will add weights to certain card "types" the same as they said they changed certain probabilities for getting certain Arena cards.

In what way was Boom manipulated? I haven't heard of this before.

They had different weights for generating class Mechs vs. non-class Mechs. They openly stated that after they changed the weights to equal out the chance of getting class Mechs. They also lowered probabilities of getting certain OP cards in Arena.

Edit: these were the Delivery Drone hero power discovers.

Edit #2: This is taken from an article on HearthstoneTopDecks. I'm not sure why it was SOOOOO hard to find this information and that so many people were unaware of this change. Here is the gist of the article.

"Let’s talk quickly about what exactly changes. Before this patch, each Discover card that could give you cards from pool of both Neutral and Class cards (so a bunch of them) gave you the latter more commonly. To be precise, each Class card had a 400% chance to appear compared to a Neutral card. After the patch, this bonus will no longer be present. It means that every single card has exactly the same chance of being Discovered.

It doesn’t means that Class cards will have exactly 4x lower chance to appear right now than they did in the past. Depending on the exact card pool etc. they will now, on average, appear ~2.5 times less often. Which is still a lot.

But why does it matter, exactly? Why is it a nerf? That’s because, on average, class cards are more powerful than neutral cards. There are less “filler” class cards than neutrals. There are also much more specific, high priority picks among class cards. Getting them way less consistently will be a huge downside. The cards that could previously give you either a class or neutral card will now offer neutral cards more often. Which, most of the time, is bad. But we’ve also got two examples of cards that will become stronger after the changes!"

Additionally there would be matches with few RNG events that would not be correctable.

Drawing cards from your deck is an RNG event and it happens in every game. It is one of the most impactful RNG events in the game. It could easily be manipulated, but most likely it is not occurring.

As far as artificially trying to maintain balance between classes on ladder. No. Easy answer. Otherwise there would never be a need for a card nerf.

posted a message on What's Hearthstone still missing?

A 2v2 mode. I've wanted to see this implemented for a while!

Would also like a new mode called like "Seasons" mode or something, where each month you can play specific seasons where only the cards available in those seasons can be used. That would be epic. They had a Tavern Brawl like this where you could go back and play C'Thun Warrior and other awesome decks!

A "Build Around" mode would be cool too. Where 2 players are given the same 10 (or some reasonable number) mandatory cards that MUST be included in their deck and then they get a certain amount of time to build a deck and face off against each other. It would be kind of like an anti-netdecker mode!

So not sure how this new "no duplicate" system works. I own basically all of the classic set and opened 4 packs expecting to get the new Priest cards and got none? Is this a bug?

Is the patch actually live? My Battle.net launcher shows it currently at 16.6, and loading up the game my standard priest deck (with old cards like Northshire) is still legal.

If it's not live, then duplication protection isn't in yet.

I'm assuming it is. When I loaded up the game it had the pop-ups showing the cards nerfs/changes/etc... and had the pop-up stating the change for the duplication system. I should have taken screenshots, but I didn't think this would occur. Oh well.
