Does Arugal also copy minions' cost reduction? I know +1/+1 to all minions in the deck is really good, but this just seems like a huge font of value. Gonna experiment with him, seems like a really powerful value-based inclusion, even if he doesn't reduce their cost (playing a 9 mana Alexstrasza copy and a 1 mana Crowd Roaster is still pretty damn good, for instance)
While more of a payoff for buff decks, she still does quite well as a closer for heal control. Taking out a big dude and healing yourself for a pittance (or entirely free) is just too much for many decks to handle at that point in the game, especially if you can buff her. While not a meta-defining card, Shirvallah enables a lot of really fun Paladin play.
It was too much on-demand healing for the class that best uses life as a resource. Even if Control isn't operating on the same level of busted as Cube, they gotta at least attempt to preserve some aspect of class identity
Rush Warrior is a good deal of fun to play, but you are correct about it flailing against Cube and Spiteful decks. Turns out "fun and fair" still doesn't count for much in Hearthstone
BFZ block, Emrakul, Copy Cat combo to name a few examples off the top of my head. Note that I didn't say "the current meta". But it took an awful lot of garbage to get to this stage.
While it's great that Blizzard is adding pros to their "final design" (read: balance) team, the past couple years of MtG Standard have demonstrated that the presence of former professional players in development is no guarantee of high quality.
I built Even Shaman day one and it's been a lot of fun. It feels more like a midrange deck than pure aggro, even with access to cheap pump cards like Fallen Sun Cleric. The primary objective is to eke out as much value as possible and waste your opponent's removal rather than dump face damage ASAP.
I'll experiment with Totem Cruncher today since it seems like really potent inevitability (just need to make sure your Flametongue doesn't get eaten). Hagatha seems like a nonbo due to the AoE Battlecry but since the deck is basically nothing but minions it might be worth it. Even the crappy totem based spells she generates could actually be somewhat useful. And as others have said, Grumble is great since you are running tons of strong Battlecries. I'm not too hot on the elemental synergies though, they were really tough for me to set up.
Malfurion and I go all the way back to WCIII but I really like being able to play somebody else. And like others have said, her hero power animation is great.

He just needs to wear a fake beard and repeatedly say "very cool" while vigorously nodding his head
