posted a message on It the mini-set worth for a returning player?

Hello everyone! I haven't played the game for a couple of years so I have zero cards (besides the core set) from the current cycle. I have about 2k gold on hand, is it worth for me to buy the mini-set or should I just spend the gold on packs?

I would probably take Netherwind portal instead of Counterspell, when you play a secret your reveal it type to your enemy via quest progress (arcane for counterspell, ice block for frost etc) so when they see that you have arcane quest they will most likely play around countespell (mirror is to risky and often times decks run very few impactful minions), when playing portal you will get some value of 4 drop, maybe even as a target for  your own spells to complete the quest.

posted a message on Murloc Madness: A Legendary Card Tournament! - Hub Post & Introduction

I thought this would be some kins of ingame tournament but oh well... The whole description feels like a tournament code and not like something to have fun with. And what's up with this 3 month slow burn of a contest? We will be having news about mini-set (and it probably will be released by mid September), and few people will care about this event by that point. I feel like this event was somewhat overhyped, the rules are too lenghty for their own good, and by November regular voting would feel like a chore. I don't want to be negative, but I expected some kind of fun tournament in the actual game with wacky rules to have a break from the meta while we wait for the nerfes. This is not what I expected.

posted a message on Wailing Caverns mini set still worth it?

I think you have about 2 months before the mini-set (barrens released on March 30th and the mini-set on June 3rd irc), probably better to save some of that gold up to that moment and spend the rest on packs.

It's almost a neutral Crimson sigil runner, and it's possible to draw more than one card! I believe getting hit with a nerf is pretty likely.

I guess this is why Tickatus avoided any nerfes even though a lot of people were very vocal about it. I think that this card will be of great help for control, of course it's not guarented to hit Tickatus but there are other minions in other matcha-ups like Ysera, Alextraza and so on.

posted a message on Honestly I don't understand why people play this game anymore.

I believe that you should ask this question to yourself first of all? May be take a sheet of paper and write down  pros and cons, and if cons outweight pros... Take a break, or look for other card games, if the making of thr deck is what brings you joy than you won't be bothered by art-style and what not. But I would advise you to pick some single-player game, from what Iunderstood you main problem lies in fact that you can't control the type of opponent you face. "Man, would it be fun to win against mage with this deck?" But you don't get a mage, but 10 paladins in a row (this is just an example). Try Slay the spire, you can deck build to your hear content, and you can somewhat tweak the difficulty of the game. Or pick up civ 6 for example. In either case, if you don't have fun you need to change something, and you can't change what other people do, you can only change the way you look at it.

So, actually Paladin not having nothing exceptionally strong, he struggles to stay in the meta (that's why he disappeared...)

Are we.... are we playing the same game? I would honestly love to be playing the Hearthstone you're playing, because 7 out of every 10 matches I play are against Paladin.

I decided not to engage with that comment because it is:
    a) Outright trolling

    b) ..?

    I can't comprehend this.

    Quote from Gantster >>

I'm a returning player after some time. Power creep is a bit rampant it seems. The mage card Wildfire is a two cost add 1 damage to hero power which is equal to the upgraded hero power. Justicar is 6 mana and Baku requires an only odd card deck. Am I missing something here, or is this just a 2 mana upgrade hero power? Why even play wild when the old cards just get replaced? Not intending to rant, I'm just quite confused in all honesty. I'm not sure if I'm missing something.

If Justicar would be released today she would probably get much higher stats so you would get decent body on the board and an upgrade hero power as well. Baku don't need to be nor played nor drawn. And for wild fire you need to draw it first than you need to play it, you get some value only after 3 or 4 use I think (2 damage of one upgraded HP is 4 mana - wildfire itself plus ping, you could ping to times with basic power and get the same damage) and right now decks like hunter and paladin probably won't give you the luxury of setting up your hero power and getting value from it. And if you forced to play other cards to keep up instead of using your hero power... Well, you've just wasted 2 mana a card slot and a possible card draw for this. I don't think it's all doom and gloom for HP mage but the cost of commitment to this gameplan could be steep. I'm not expert neither in HP mage nor in wild so take this with a grain of salt.

    Quote from BilgekhanShaman >>

Shaman have the most game crippling mechanics atm.

    1. Overload

    2. If you play an elemantal last turn "you can do otw you can not do this" s.hit thing.

Both mechanics are so conditional and breaking quality of shaman gaming.

    Please fix it.

And how would you fix it? I don't find anything wrong with overload, without it such strong cards like lightning bloom would not exist (for better or for worst). If Doomhammer would cost 7 mana upfront would you play it? It may be not the greatest mechanic but it makes shaman different from other classes.

Could you specify what kind of filters do you mean? I'm not a premium user, hell I've started using hsreplay not so long ago so I'm not very keen in its innerworkings.

Filtering the results for higher ranks allows you to filter out games of players that might not know how their deck works or what the opponent's deck can do, giving you a more reliable result. Afaik, without premium HSreplay does not allow you to do that.

Additionally it is always better to filter the results to a more recent timeframe instead of seeing everything since the first day of the patch when people were still experimenting with suboptimal versions of each deck.

In general the fact that you can find decks with extremely high or low winrates is a good indicator that the data has not been filtered properly (or at all).

I see, I looked more into my own winrate via decktracker history and I have 52% wr against paladin, which doesn't say much because a played it at below diamond ranks and I had about 50 games or so in total. Come to think of it, it doesn't look so unfavourable as I though (the WR of paladin vs mage was like 75% when I looked at it but now I understand that I missed a lot of factors that made these stats pretty much useless).

upd. I got my own stats wrong and my deck was kind of junk to begin with, so my own perception and the stats taken out of context lead me to the conclusion that was quite ignorant (can conclusion even be ignorant? I don't know but I hope you get my point).
