    Perhaps I'm just dumb, but I'm not seeing the OTK with Kathrena here at all. You pray she grabs King Krush and not one of the Charged Devilsaurs and then... what exactly? Hope Krush survives the turn and Cube it next turn? Assuming you have Play Dead in your hand of course. And you're not running Spiritsinger Umbra either.

    Maybe enlighten me before asking for an upvote rather than expecting me to false-upvote just to get the answer?

    posted a message on Etheral VS Hearthstone

    I just started playing Eternal a week ago as well.

    It's a varied perspective, but from an MTG background, I like it more than HS.

    It reintroduces mana sources (Lands in MTG, Powers in Eternal) and with that, also reintroduces the consistency or inconsistency of drawing the wrong mana at the wrong time. It's a little easier than MTG, with the lands disconnected from the colors it taps for, essentially. You already figured this out if you've played through a few games.

    1) Meta does change, especially since the third set Dusk Road came out a month ago, it's been back and forth. A website I found did list an assumed "current" meta roughly 10 days ago.

    2) It's much more F2P than Hearthstone, but you'll still feel like you have a long ways to go, and you will. It's a grind to get the Shiftstone you need, but at the same time, there are semi-viable decks to play Gauntlet, Ranked, and Events. Your first win in Casual, Ranked or Draft will get you a free pack. In the beginning of the game, you quickly recieve free packs. Events are a fantastic way to get free packs. Packs contain 15 (I think?) cards, with one Rare or Legendary, a few uncommons, and many commons. After a week or so, you'll have 90% or more of the commons from all sets. I already do.

    It's important to note, about the F2P, to consistently do Forge and Draft. You keep all cards from Forge and Draft. Do Forge (2.5k Gold, Hearthstone style draft versus AI) until you get to "Master Rank" which is not difficult at all. Do Gauntlet with budget grinder decks found online to nail in some more free gold until you get Master rank. That one is optional, I've found out. I haven't done it yet, but I know I should. The Rank Up Chests from each reward you with 2k Gold. Once you have 5k Gold, do drafts. You keep all the cards, so just pluck any Rares and Legendaries you see and try to craft a good deck around them. You'll get about 2 wins but you'll net a great benefit rather than straight up buying packs.

    Summary of F2P: Yes, much easier than Hearthstone, but don't pretend you'll have competitive decks quickly.

    3) Yes. Really powerful cards. There's a 5/7 that doesn't tap to attack and mills you five cards, drawing a Minotaur and Weapon from those 5, and giving them +5 attack each. Weapons are like Enchantments in MTG *and* Weapons in Hearthstone -- I'm sure you've figured that out if you've played the intro campaign. There are so many really strong cards, but at the same time, there is some equally good removal.

    Balance is done as you expect: Commons are common and have a generalized effect. Uncommons are strictly better  commons. Many people confuse "Strictly better" with "Power creep" -- That's the point. No one wants to play, "1 Mana: Draw a card" when you can play "1 mana: Give a creature flying. Draw a card." But some people may not want to spend Shiftstone on the better card, while they already own the cheaper card.

    4) Pros? I'm not sure. I don't think so. It has a much smaller scene than Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering, as expected. You'll find new streamers and pros, like LocoPojo, but I'm unsure if anyone in the current competative scene of Eternal are recognizeable.

    The community is pretty nice so far. Eternal Warcry is the best comparison to Hearthpwn, I'm sure. They have Articles, Decks, Card search, etc. I'm not sure if they have a high quality Forum, and most Eternal players use Reddit. But even on Reddit, they've got some great content. Most of this I learned from a few Reddit searchs.

    Hope you're having fun!

    posted a message on The Darkness and Evolve.

    While it makes sense to get Darkness out of Evolve, it's very unfair.

    The huge difference of being able to interact with the random minion generated allows players with Evolve to never have a *dead* result. Even a Lynessa Sunsorrow isn't dead. It's a 1/1 that could deal that 1 last damage or take a chump attack from something with 3+ power (simply to avoid getting evolved). And on top of all that, it can be evolved into an 8 cost.

    To evolve something into Darkness is simply punishing. It's actually purely mean. It's not balanced. You sacrifice your own minion to destroy one of your available minion slots and discard your Evolve with no benefit. Oh and you paid 1 mana for that. Not a single upside. Very interruptive to the game. If someone gets Flamewreathed Faceless, they still *discarded* (in this case, it's more of used) their Evolve, and they still sacrificed their minion. Sure sacrificing a 3 mana small thing and getting a 7/7 out of it is fantastic, but that 7/7 can be hard removed or even attacked by the opponent's minions. The 7/7 can be completely worthless without Taunt, and you still died. That 7/7 does not permanently (PERMANENTLY) prevent one of your 7 minion slots from being played for the rest of the game.

    Which 4-costed minion out there is so impactful, SO STRONG, that it's *balance* is to have a chance at losing 4 resources (Minion slot, Evolve, and both the 1st and 2nd minion)? Which 4 costed card is a balance to summoning Darkness?

    Why would they counter Barnes when he's rotating?

    @LittleOgreHearthstone

    Yea, Starving Buzzard has always been half-and-half for the deck. A chunk of times, I can get in one or two draws with both the buzzards. Sometimes, I'm drawing 3 or 4 cards, and one time the opponent made sure I fatigued hard with Buzzard. So he's kind of a double edged sword at 5 mana with 2 health.

    Fledgling with Rhino is sweet. You are replacing the janky draw combos with a much more threatening minion -- Do they remove the Fledgling (if they can) or the Rhino? If they go for Rhino, does the Fledgling snowball out of control? Don't forget there is still a 5/5 Oakheart able to make solid attacks.

    Glad you got inspiration. Good luck with your deck mate! Let me know how Fledgling works. I might try him out in my standard brew.

    posted a message on Arena Only Cards from BlizzCon to be Added "In a Few Months"

    What was their process for designing these cards? The priest card, for example, I'm OK with drawing 3 cards, but was donating a minion really the best effect? What made them think we needed that? And not that we can't build around it or just use it successfully -- it's definitely playable, I just wanted to know the design behind the card.

    EDIT: Thanks for the downvotes. I'm just curious. Who knew asking a question would be so offensive.

    I hunt with Oak.
    Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (9) Ability (19) Weapon (2)
    Loading Collection

    The Combo:

    Power 1 == Kindly Grandmother
    Power 2 == Tundra Rhino
    Power 3 == Starving Buzzard

    The Plan: (I pretty much repeat what's on the Deck guide -- just me listing cool things about the deck. :P Not a real guide. I plan on writing one up after a small amount of upvotes)

    Using a normal Secret package, control the board with secrets and Weapons, as well as some removal: Flanking Strike, Unleash the Hounds, Kill Command and sometimes Huffer. Animal Companion is usually fit to giving you a beast without getting the way of Oakheart, though it could be replaced for Stoneskin Basilisk, to force the opponent in a bad position, AND to combo pull with Master Oakheart. I might have replaced one for Spellbreaker.

    Tundra Rhino is the only guaranteed win condition of the deck, while Greater Emerald Spellstone and Corridor Creeper are good by themselves, they can bring in large burst surprise damage with the Rhino. Two Corridor Creepers are necessary to make sure you can drop them at 0 mana with the Rhino.

    Control the board until you can play Tundra Rhino with a spell that summons minions. It's important for Corridor Creeper to be played with the Rhino, for a 0 mana 5/5 charge. Any of the spells that summon minions also works with Starving Buzzard, though expensive, can provide great card draw.

    Snake Trap is actually being run in my current edition, working really well on T4, so I can play Starving Buzzard on curve with no other minions. I only run one, and Venomstrike was for the large Jades and Voidlords, but the plan against Warlocks is to burst them before they get Voidlord in play. Voidlord's little Voidwalkers also help A LOT with cost reduction for Corridor Creeper.

    Master Oakheart plays as a "third Rhino" if you haven't drawn a Rhino yet, while also drawing 2 to 3 cards, and allowing you for 6 to 8 burst damage.

    Rhino with Spellstone and Creeper allows: (3*4) + 2 + 5 = 19 damage. There is enough room for a second Creeper, if you get lucky enough to draw both in time, you get 24 burst damage. This breaks through tough taunt walls and still pushes for lethal.

    posted a message on I hunt with Oak.

    Seems like a fun and inexpensive deck (got master oakhart but no deck seems to include him). Have you played this already in ranked? If so how is the winrate?

     Surprisingly, not terrible. I think my last recorded WR is 27 to 17, putting it a little over 60%, but that's a bit unfair, since the Deck Tracker remembered all the previous iterations. I'll post a screen shot later
    I can consistently say the deck is welcomed at Rank 14. I used it last season for fun, and climbed up to rank 14 from 20. Not a fantastic achievement, but I wasn't *really* trying. And this season, just to see how far I'll go before losing too much... again to Rank 14.
    But I haven't teched in Spellbreaker yet, and that doesn't get in the way of the combo, so I highly suggest subbing in Spellbreaker if you want to mess around in legend.
    Good luck with the list. If you have any more questions, let me know.
