Queued up against Paladin. You know the screen where he goes, "I fight with honor". I'm thinking to myself, "my ass you fight with honor, you fight with icky maggot apple on head crap".
My health is dropping like a stone and I'm barely holding on cuz of Ice Barrier. Now, I can either Coin out a Sludge Belcher or ping the Knife Juggler. Since I intended to coin Blizzard the next turn I opted to ping.
Knife Juggler down? No problem, replace it with a Shielded Minibot and then proceed to Divine Favor into 8 cards. Yes...8. Well, I coin out Blizzard, wiping his board and dropping to 5 health. Thinking of all the possible combination of cards with which he can kill me.
Well, I probably missed a couple in that list above. I wasn't quite lucky enough to dodge all this and Antique Healbot up and died to the last one. This long list of kills is probably why aggro decks are the bane of > 75% of Hearthstoners.
I have an Explosive Trap up. He has lots of guys, and I'm about to finish him off. He trades a Piloted Shredder in for one of my guys, gets an armorsmith. Proceeds to get 5 armor in one turn, bringing his life up to 5 + 5 armor. He then pings his armorsmith for one more armor.
I look at my hand. 10 fucking damage. Would've been an easy kill if anything else came out of the shredder...
Looking at the new cards also makes me realize: You can play a person with really low skill and still lose. Hearthstone is becoming more and more RNG influenced and it really gets frustrating sometimes.
Do you know why people play face hunter/eboladin/zoolock/other cancer decks? My honest opinion is that yes, control decks are way more fun to play because they require skill. But to be competitive, you're gonna need a ton of dust to make those control decks, or have RNGESUS grant you all the legendaries when opening packs. Since the latter is unlikely, most people will opt to play cheaper competitive decks. Hate to break it to humanity here, but face decks are simply cheaper and easier to obtain.
I do play many of these face decks, but I'd honestly much rather be playing handlock or control warrior. Why don't I? Missing the cards, it's as simple as that.
there are ton of other decks that arent as expensive as handlock or control warrior. you can swap couple cards as u see fit as well if you are missing something. They arent as competitve though obviously but i take it you arent going for ranked legend.
the real issue i think is that people want results with little work. this translates to the playstyle+deck they choose. mainly face hunter and aggro paladin or any other turn 6 kill deck.
Thats also the whole point of netdecking, let others do the work for you and copypasta.
I understand some people feel satisfaction only from winning games, so the dude with gold will win with handlock, the dude without with face hunter and the really cheap dude with gold with face hunter again.
Yeah, I suppose you slowly build up. For example, I'm still missing a Molten Giant and Jaraxxus for my handlock, and can still score some wins around rank 8. But it's clearly not as good.
Last season, I did make a run for it with "scumbag" hunter, hitting rank 1. This season, the meta (at least a few days ago) is rather unfavorable towards face hunter cuz lots of warriors and such, so I'm not sure if I have a decent shot at hitting legend, but who knows.

I'm mostly frustrated that basically every multiplayer game out there revolves around money. You pay to get better stuff, essentially putting you at an advantage over other players who don't spend money. While Hearthstone at least makes it possible for you to get the cards and be on par with the people who pay, it gets harder and harder for newer players to catch up.
As for the golden thing, it just kinda irritates me, since they choose to flaunt their wealth. Which, I guess is further discouraging for new players, seeing how much they have to climb to catch up.
I don't mean to offend the people who pay, it's just a rant on not being able to find a "purely" free-to-play game, basically one where no amount of money gives you an advantage over others.

Any replacement for Nightmare Amalgam? Currently trying a Gluttonous Ooze and Scaleworm, but I feel like I should phase out the Gluttonous Ooze since I'm not seeing many weapons.

Pretty much, it works better than expected actually

I'm playing Control/Echo Mage, and I had a pretty bad draw, going second. Turn 1 pass. Turn 2 he plays a Knife Juggler. Now, I have the choice to play Mad Scientist (which I just drew) or ping. I'm like...well either way it's bad so Mad Scientist whatever. Guy plays Muster for Battle, kills my Mad Scientist (from which I get Ice Barrier) and proceeds to abuse my face. Well, I look at my hand, and it's either ping the Knife Juggler/a guy or play Arcane Intellect. I opt to ping the Knife Juggler. Next turn, with 4 mana, he drops Knife Juggler + Leper Gnome + Southsea Deckhand.

Truesilver Champion + Southsea Deckhand
Southsea Deckhand + Blessing of Might
Southsea Deckhand + Consecration + Light's Justice (from Muster for Battle)

Hunting for ranks...and what happens?

Um, I don't think you'll like eating 4 Skill Commands to the face, but that would be interesting
