true 11 is odd. Also the introduction of Death Knight is quite odd as its the 3rd expansion of 2022 and will rotate immediately XD. Hopefully the introduce new class on 1st expansion so it wont rotate immediately.

When they first announced DK coming out in the third expansion of 2022, I also thought that was weird.  However, when you look back at it in comparison to when DH was released, one big change was the existence of the Core Set.  Because Core existed they could not only make new cards in the expansion, and the Path of Arthas set, but they also had the Core set for DK to buff up their class card pool some.  So I guess they figured with that they could release the class at anytime.

Also, when DH came out it was way over tuned.  So I guess going with the third expansion gives them a chance rotate really strong cards sooner and maybe avoid a bunch of big nerfs?  Still like 16 months of Standard play though for MotLK cards though.

But then we also got to think of what another class might be? Monk is the most obvious.  What would that look like?  What might Monk’s class identity be?  I played a little WoW after Pandaria came out, but never really got into Monk so I literally don’t know their abilities.

The next expansion drops in just a few weeks.

The next expansion will be at the start of a new year in Hearthstone. Historically that happens in April. So we are about 2 months away from the next expansion, not a few weeks.

I see you aren't good at connecting the dots. Historically every 3rd expansion of the year used to drop in December and not in November like the last time.

It looks like you need a history lesson.
    • The League of Explorers was released in November 12th 2015. The Start of the new year with the release of "Whispers of the Old Gods" was on April 26, 2016.
    • Madness at the Darkmoon Faire was released on November 17th, 2020. The start of the new year with the release of "Forged in the Barrens" was on March 30th, 2021. While not in April, using it as an example still means about a month and three weeks.

So Historically we still have at least 7 weeks to go. Not the "in a few weeks" idiocy. You have a join date that suggests you should know what happened with the start of the new year in years past. Your posts are either willfully ignorant of the facts, or you just like posting nonsense.

If you read my earlier post about the battle pass only being for sale through March 11, and how March 11 will be the 10th anniversary of Hearthstone’s launch, you’d know we are about 5 weeks out (plus a few days).  The expansion isn’t likely to “drop” as in come out in the OP’s timeline, but the announcement of it is almost certainly coming very soon.  I’d venture to say Tues, Feb 13.

Now, instead of splitting hairs and manufacturing meaningless conflict with each other, maybe we could have some real discussion and speculation in this speculation thread?

posted a message on New Ranked Season - February 2024 & Card Back - New Twist Too!

Twist mode has a weird anomaly where Snipe and Mana Wyrm are legal cards due to Caverns of Time, however, the Legacy versions can’t be used.  So if you don’t own the CoT versions, you either craft them or go without.

Made a post in their Bug Report forums since I feel this is wrong.  I thought no matter the version, if you owned a card legal to a specific format you could use it.

The biggest issue with this is in the future, someone who got a specific legendary through CoT and doesn’t have it from the base set it was from might be shit out if luck when a later month includes that minion’s base set but not CoT.

Overall, this presents a much bigger problem in the long run for future Twist months if they do more straight to Wild/Twist sets with “reprints”.  Potentially creating more situations like this and further alienating people from the mode if not corrected.

I think the current battle pass is available for purchase through March 11, meaning March 12 could be a very likely launch date this time.  March 11, 2014 also happens to be Hearthstone’s launch date too.  So being the 10th anniversary it’s likely they want to begin celebrating that fact right around the 11th, or rather 12th.

Theme, no idea.  However, I am expecting a bigger year long narrative given that it’s Hearthstone’s 10th birthday come March 11.

that would require resource investment in a game mode that isnt battlegrounds or constructed. Based on trends, that wont happen.

You might get a streamer event with 2 packs for watching 64 hours during the day though.

I didn’t necessarily mean big solo adventures, but just three expansions with overlapping themes and narratives.

    as the title

    Quote from Thonson >>

I don't understand the argument here for Objection, or Counterspell for that matter.  If either was changed to happen after the minion is played, or after the spell for Counterspell, they would effectively do nothing.  In fact, Counterspell would LITERALLY do nothing if it triggers after a spell is played.

In the modern game of Hearthstone, stats on board are almost meaningless as more and more minions are printed with super powerful effects.  For an example, let's say you are playing Reno Warrior with Brann in the deck.  If you play Deepminer Brann, the effect goes off, and after the battlecry triggered the opponent's Objection triggered and removed the 2/4 body from the board, do you care?  Probably not, because you now have the permanent double battlecry throughout the game like you wanted.  So what the hell is the point of Objection if it worked that way?

Whether or not the card's design is good or bad for the game is one thing.  But the order of operations is definitely not thoughtless in design.

as the title says its about interaction of the secrets counter, its not only about objection! But you show the other view, they wanted to implement a counter to battlecries? sure but then the eater should not be a battlecry.

If you read my post, the interaction is not confusing at all.  And I doubt they will change anything just to accomodate secret tech.  They haven’t altered Flare/Counterspell, so I doubt they’ll alter this.

Also, your suggestion of it not being a battlecry would still not work.  The reason why it wouldn’t work is because the secret still triggers before the minion truly comes into play.  To achieve what you want the secret would still have to be changed to “After” instead of “When”, which still makes the secret useless.

If you don’t believe me, try playing Tight-Lipped Witness into an Objection and see if a non-battlecry effect to negate the secret works.  (Spoiler: it won’t.)

While I know a lot of people don’t like Objection (myself included) this essentially gives Mage the same annoying counter abilities as Blue mana users in MtG.  And what’s worse in MtG is the Blue mana user gets to choose when to counter a creature.  At least in HS we have the option to play around it if you know it’s coming.  And as someone who plays mostly Wild, I have to deal with it forever!  So maybe it’ll get a change someday, most likely not. But the most realistic change they could make would be to make it read “When your opponent plays a minion, Silence it.”  Eater and other minions like Witness still won’t stop it from going off, but if they ever change it that’s probably the best we’ll get.  The changes you are seemingly suggesting just won’t ever happen because they either don’t work like you think or they kill the secret entirely.

The wording being changed on Objection!  to "Secret: AFTER your opponent plays a Minion, Counter it." would solve a ton of issues I have with that card. It's the exact same issue with Counterspell's wording and the interaction with Flare, although Counterspell has been that way so long that it'd be disruptive to change it now.

Well that would mean that any battlecry effect would still trigger, which kind of kills the purpose of the card.

     That was my point, buddy

posted a message on Exodia Mage (Nostalgic deck)

You know, if you use Audio Amplifier this is possible WITHOUT the Emperor!  Get to 11 mana, Girl (4), Molten (3), Molten (2), Time Warp (2) = 11 mana, second turn you play another Girl (4), Tony (7) = 11 mana, then any spell reduced to 0 to get the Fireballs flowing!

Feel free to check the math, but I think it checks out!  And you can play Audio Amplifier any time rather than waiting for two combo pieces in hand.

EDIT: Nevermind!  Just noticed this was a Twist deck...  But still!  Could be fun for a little nostalgia in Wild too.

Actually, they addressed this on Reddit.  Just saw that they had a bug where some videos got set to private.  So they just “re-published” the videos by correcting that error and making them public again.

If the next expansion is time travel that’d be strange with a time travel set in Twist recently (Caverns of Time).  But perhaps they purposely posted the mini set overview from a year ago as the low-key teaser to a time travel mini set to be announced tomorrow?

Or they’re going to be lazy and push the CoT cards as this expansion’s mini set!  LOL

Another thing would be to simply put “(Once per game.)” in the text, and just make it so you can’t have more than one extra turn PERIOD!

Don’t stop!  They’ve said before they push bans out in waves.  So they gather reports and data to build a ban list, and then push a large number of bans at once.

So if you report someone but then still see them, that doesn’t mean the team is ignoring you.  They just haven’t taken action yet.

To add, I think it’s actually more beneficial to play more games for xp farming too! As in if the players who bot would set the bots to play faster and not rope, they’re likely going to farm more xp!

Back when they first switched to the rewards track there was an influx of Odd Warrior bots in Wild that did nothing but button and rope out to farm xp.  And I believe they stated at that time you get less xp from one long game compared to two to three shorter games.
