As they stated in the original press release announcing the mode last summer, it won’t always be available.
Surprisingly a lot of people seemed to miss this. Even Roffle commented in a Duels tirade that they “deleted Twist” during the first break, not seeming to understand they planned on an occasional month off here and there.
Twist is in many ways similar to a long form Tavern Brawl, but with more stakes such as ladder rewards, they may take these breaks to try and make new rule sets and card pools are as balanced as possible. Just like how they preemptively banned the Caverns quest when adding Un’Goro after XL decks. They knew the quest would be really strong in that meta, and back to its original state. So they chose a ban rather than nerfing it for two months.
I’m not surprised by the lock down honestly, but a little surprised that I hadn’t seen a warning about it like before.
A large part, I’ve heard, is because Chinese players are playing on NA after China servers were shut down. Botting, hacking, and/or using cheats are widely accepted among Chinese gamers, again just from what I’ve heard. And I also believe Wild was the more popular format among Chinese players too!
"...but if you want to play anything remotely original..."
... then you shouldn't be surprised that your win rate is rather weak on ladder.
Look at this guy playing a children card game like that's his job. Sad
I tend to mess around once I hit D10 and honestly don’t see much of these bots. The other day I tried playing in the morning and got hit with 6-7 in a row. In the afternoon and evening the same day, either no bots or just better coded bots.
But anyway… that response to the meta bro really made me laugh! Thanks for that!
Had this happen yesterday. I think it was 6-7 games in the morning all the same Rogue BS with auto generated names or random letters/numbers combo!
Also, not all of the basic auto gen names will be bots. I used to run multiple alt accounts that were all (something)Pants. I called them The Pants Brigade!
I’m a little surprised that it didn’t still work. Early in the Titans meta someone stole or copied my Sargeras on board and tried the two 6/6s ability, and they popped up on my side since I had the portal.
Perhaps what I experienced was the unintended interaction and it has been fixed to the “do nothing if the portals not on your side” interaction.
Not at all. The legendary system (which garentees at least one every 40 packs) works for any packs opened. Meaning you can't really control the outcome. The best thing to do for that might be to open something like 20-30 packs noraml, hoping you get no legendary and then open the golden packs to ensure you more chances. But as I've said, you've got no control over this.
If you opened 10 normal packs you’d hit that legendary by that 10th pack or earlier. But regardless of any of that, golden and normal packs have separate pity timers, even if they are the same expansion. Golden packs used to not give a guaranteed legendary in the first 10, but I guess they changed that. Not sure when that changed though.
TLDR: The two pack types have timers that are independent of each other, so it doesn’t matter what you open first.
they are being treated as diferent cards for a ress effects lmao
That’s actually not a new problem. A long time ago I faced a Big Priest while piloting a Druid deck. I can’t remember exactly how it played out, but the Priest might have used Potion of Madness on something of mine that had Soul of the Forest on it, and my minion died on their side to give them a Treant. Later I used Poison Seeds to give them a few more Treants. A while after those were killed off the Priest cast spellstone to rez three different minions, two were Treants!
This was before Tteants had alt art work too! The only difference was their watermark. Soul treant was a Classic card, while Seeds treant token was a Naxx card.
The same happens if you use 1x Legacy and 1x Core versions of Hex and a priest tries to rez with their spellstone. In fact, hit them with those and the Datkmoon elemental that casts Hex and their Eternal Servitude might give them 3 frogs as their “different” options.
I feel like they should be able to fix this somehow, and honestly should. Especially if they do anymore “reprints” in sets like Caverns of Time.
The only real difference is that this is will be more like Wild at the time. Not sure how strong Spell Hunter and Wall Priest were in Wild at the times they were popping up in Standard. Also, with certain nerf reverts we may see things like Undertaker Hunter and Patron Warrior stick around longer than they did back in their heyday. Not to mention at some point Big Priest and Secret Mage will start to dominate the population for a few days. And Jade Druid...
Right now I'm having a ton of fun with it too, mostly because I didn't play a ton during the days of GvG, Blackrock, or TGT. And when I did there were a LOT of cards I just didn't have. Now I have a majority of the cards, and so I could play some decks that I either missed or just didn't have the cards for back then.
It's not "most epics and legendaries" missing, you have access precisely to the original Basic set, plus the cards that retroactively replaced other cards from Classic, such as Righteousness and Natalie Seline.
I can only speculate what the intention was. Maybe they wanted to have the first day be all about Basic and the other cards are the error. or they wanted to have the first day indeed be Classic, but the way they had sorted the set is all messed up by now.
I personally like the idea of only Basic decks for a day.
Well they patched it to include all of Legacy, so I guess it was a bug after all. Neat little meta for half the day though.
I think it's a bug, because there are a LOT of cards that aren't showing up in the collection manager right now. Perhaps to really stretch it out they purposefully didn't include most epics and legendaries day 1.

That’s almost always been the sentiment of the Hearthstone community at large. “Nerf this thing I hate, but buff this thing I love!”

I do think they are soaking in all that $ though! Especially by making him a free card.

Every time I see a deck or post with “WW” in it I just think “We going back to the WitchWood, bois?!”

As you said, it's not an aura. So I'm going to say no, it doesn't work on that.
