posted a message on Rastakhan's Rumble Run - A Hearthstone Single Player Experience

This mode finally cured me of my Hearthstone addiction. Deleted the game from phone, ipad, and computer.

RNG with zero ability to plan ahead or strategize isn't entertaining. This mode really exemplifies how Hearthstone is a game nothing more than a coin flip simulator, and the player's only two real impacts on the game are amount of money/time spent or being brilliant and winning 3 to 5% more often.

Thanks for building this mode, nothing illustrates how little the player matters more than it.

No thread with the new Tavern Brawl even an hour after it is released? The reader count of this forum makes me think that hundreds of people have checked for it.

Neat, they made a brawl where you have to pick Sindragosa or you get to face her and lose. Six for six in getting opponents that choose her.

All the fun of flipping a coin combined with the joy of waiting 5 to 10 minutes to see if you won!

    This brawl is terrible.

Horseman's deck is unbeatable if he has the right cards early.

After the quest completes the deck goes from being 10 cards to 25 cards. Of the 100 discovery picks I’ve got to choose with that 25 count, only a couple had no Raptor in them. From that, it is all but certain that it was giving the raptor a 15 in 25 chance of being picked for the first slot, a 15 in 24 for the second slot, and if still missed, a 15 in 23 for the last.

Edit: did the math and it looks like it is just under a 95% chance to draw a raptor post quest, which feels pretty spot on.

Had a few hunter quests today so I thought I'd complete them in Tavern Brawl ...  most fun I've had in a while.

Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (7) Ability (3)

Priest and other strategies that ramp up super quick will beat it, but a deck built around The Marsh Queen is a lot of fun. Winning over half of the Brawls I've played and except against a Priest if I had a taunt card come up I would have won more. Any easy ways to improve upon this? So much fun after turn 6 with the quest finished as with 15 raptors in your deck they are almost guaranteed to be an option for every draw.

I've seen freeze mage burst me down from full life with nothing but an Emperor tick on his hand (the last game I just played was freeze mage vs dragon priest. I would have lost had he had either one more spell in hand OR Thalnos)

Just had this happen to me. He played pretty much nothing but draw cards and immunity secrets all game, looking back there is literally no way I could beat him. I've always hated playing mages because it is like a stun lock in WoW, they remove any fun for me because I might as well not be there. Either they get their cards and win or they don't and lose, I am not even part of the equation unless I run a deck that has counters useless in pretty much every other situation.

With that said, I am done with what is effectually the world's slowest coin flip simulator. When nothing I do matters in a game, it is a pretty easy choice to stop playing. Luckily, they've stopped having fun Tavern Brawls as well (gotta make people play Standard to buy more packs!) so it will be an easy cord to pull.

Good luck all, since that is pretty much all that will save you.

They obviously are trying to steer people into playing the regular game modes where they will be frustrated with the power of new cards and start buying some of their own. Excited for next week's Tavern Brawl where the exciting twist on the Too Many Portals brawl is that all animations go in slow motion and turns are extended to 6 minutes each side!

Dev A: "Let's make a game that gives the players zero chance to have an effect on the outcome on the game but take roughly 9 minutes to see if they won."

Dev B: "So, something as engaging as flipping a coin COMBINED with the exciting pace of watching paint dry?"

    Dev A: "EXACTLY!"

Dev C: "But we just built a nice selection of premade decks that could showcase all of the new cards and other strategies that have been recently added to the game?!"

Dev B: "God damnit, Steve, remember ... we hate the end user!"

Nothing like a coin flip simulator that takes 10 minutes to decide who wins.

Wanna do quests? Sit awhile and be bored out of your mind while you have next to zero opportunity to help decide if you win or not.

ETA: I would gladly wait 60 seconds to find a match and play with people who have average turn times near what mine is. Playing with people who rope EVERY turn is fucking maddening.

I feel like there is maybe a 2% chance that I actually effect how the game will turn out, that seems to be a fucking stupid game design.

I guess getting quests done is nice though.

Step 1: Play Heigan the Unclean.

    Step 2: Play Duplicate.

Step 3: Play more Heigan the Unclean and resurrect (Necromancy) more Heigan the Unclean.

    Step 4: Enjoy easy win.

Of course that whole line of play fails miserably if your opponent turns your first Heigan the Unclean into a Pit Snake.

Pretty much just did this with Gothik the Harvester Other player made it a game though, got his staff super early, got a Tirion Fordring,  kept board control, and was doing his damnedest to clear out all the Spectral Gothik's I was sending over. He actually got me down to mid 20s before he lost his Taunt minion and had to concede. Summoning 3 Gothik's in one turn is just crazy OP.

This brawl is basically only good for doing quests quickly because the battles are so quick. Its fun for the occasional close and balanced round or crazy set of circumstances where one side goes nuts, but other than that it is pretty bullshit. Might as well just load up to a coin that is heads or tails because decisions don't matter 85% of the time, you win or lose based of pure luck.
