I can think of a few reasons. I don't know exactly what Lifecoach's reasoning is, though. Check out some of his later streams with this deck to see how he actually uses it.
1. Not having enough health is a consistent problem with this deck. 2 Farseers helps, but in aggro matchups just having a hero power that can do work for you without requiring facetank could be huge.
2. Dagger is pretty bad against control
3. 1/3 body can be really good on turn 1, especially in a deck that otherwise does basically nothing on turn 1 usually
Lots of non-control decks run Finley (I'd say mostly non-control, really), so I don't understand your point about this deck's playstyle.
This list does not run Ysera or Malkorok and is still very good: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/568392-s27-legend-dragon-guide. IMO Ysera does not fit in this deck at all. This is a tempo deck and she is basically the opposite of tempo. Malkorok is a great card but not so good against aggro.
Control warrior is usually pretty easy. Apply moderate but consistent pressure. Try to bait out Brawls and other removal before playing COTW. They play a few Kodo targets, so try not to drop one without a target if you can help it. Highmane is the MVP
Tempo/Midrange Warrior is a little harder, but still manageable. Pirate warrior is very unfavorable, yes

Cairne is not very good in wild because he's a poor answer to sludge belcher

Rag Lightlord is a huge card in this deck and will just straight up win you a lot more games than you might think. Craft ASAP!

Tirion? Cairne?

If they're not on hearthhead yet, they will be soon. Look there

Love playing ramp druid just for this card. Trogg into Totem Golem? Have a 5/6 with taunt and divine shield on turn 3

This is a little out of date I think. He is running Sir Finley Mrrgglton instead of Deadly Poison now.

So good in this meta. Totem Golem, Frothing Berserker, Flamewaker, Twilight Elder, Tomb Pillager, and Azure Drake are everywhere. Takes 'em out nice and clean.

There's no great replacement for Edwin, but the classic recommendation is Questing Adventurer

Xaril is better for value, Teacher is better for tempo. Switch them out depending on which would be better in your local meta
