posted a message on Countering the hunter "meta"

The short answer is gitgud, but the long answer is that most Hunters are midrange, and you should beat them before they get going or outlast them and wait until they run outta stuff. Control Priest, Dragon Warrior, Zoo and Aggro Shaman (that's now not bad with Likkim [/card] and [card]Electra Stormsurge ) can do this.

posted a message on About how expensive HS is..

I'd only recommend this way if you've never spent money before, and you've immediately sworn to never spend money again.

This is more than enough to last you for the rest of your time playing. Be conservative, don't dust and grind hard. Don't spend one gold until next expac.

Sorta trying I raised 3k gold, I've heard of people doing 5k+.

posted a message on 1 Day to Legend Keleseth Rogue (61% W)

Your perspective is off. I've used a Tempo list to legend some moons ago.

    • These matchups are bad, period. Sometimes you win, most times you lose. Playing well over a large number of games makes this a small oversight in the big picture.
    • No one silences really. We may be in different parts of ladder, but I only see the occasional Spellbreaker or Earth Shock. Even so, getting silenced isn't a game-losing scenario if your tempo is right.
    • If you're controlling the board from Turn 1, you don't need Vanish. If anything, running Vanish would hurt more than it helps, since keeping a board is how you win. Bouncing your own board against control past turn 6 is gg.
    • Again, a bad matchup, nothing you can do. Play 100 games and see how many times you see Taunt Druid.

Not trading efficiently, playing into your opponent's big board clears, missing opportunities to capitalize on your opponent's big mistakes or low energy plays.

posted a message on Would You Be So Kind...
    Quote from LadyPhoenix74 >>

    ...to explain a few things to me? Ever since I started playing the game, and reading the articles and such, I have noticed a few trends;

    1) Referring to aggro/tempo decks as "brainless." Doesn't every deck become autonomous if you play it enough?

    2) R20 Scrub! What difference does it make? Some people just don't want to climb ladder?

    3) Homebrews VS. Netdecks; again, what difference does this make? If you are offered 2 pair of shoes, some people are going to opt for comfort, and some are going to opt for style. Secondly, every new player that asks for advice, "WATCH STREAMS!" under the same threads that refer to, "Too many netdeckers."

I fully understand everyone has a different idea of what is fun to them - as fun is subjective. However, I cannot ignore the contradictions in these trends. I am looking for clarification on how, and why they exist in the first place, and how we, as a community, can hopefully be more open to other players play styles.

Thank you for your time. I look forward to your responses.

     1. I guess they think that because you're just slamming minions on board and going face that it takes less thought. I'd be willing to be that 95% of the people that complain aren't legend with it. There's still a lot of decision making that goes into the deck.

    2. Everyone answers what "good" is for themselves. Some people are Rank 15 and think Legend is good. Some people are Legend and think Top 100 Legend is good. It's all relative.

    3. A very big difference. It's an age-old battle I've had with a very good friend any game we play. Playing for fun vs. playing to win. I'm competitive, and play to win. If net-decking gets me the most competitive deck then so be it. He doesn't care about winning as much and has fun, never netdecks. They say to watch streams because it's a good way to test your ability. When I watch streamers I ask myself "what would I do here", and see how close my play is to theirs. Netdecking streamers is very common though.

You're not missing much guys. I've climbed the mountain once, and whenever I stop playing, it's good to say I've done it, but I don't see myself having the patience to do it again. Maaaaaaaybe given the new Standard changes, but we'll see. Going Legend is great and all, but don't feel bad if you're not aiming be a consistent Top 100 player. Get it once, pat yourself on the back and play for fun.

Well, well, well, Hearthstone's One Day of Peace finally got the boot. It was only a matter of time. Two was annoying, but having to deal with 3+ while blind to it is just ridiculous. Good to see it go.

posted a message on [STANDARD] Headed for Legend! - S48 March 2018

Legend is not impossible! You can do it!

I finally reached it at Season 45 (after playing since Season 10 monkaS) and my biggest takeaways/tips for people feeling discouraged are:

    • MASTER one deck, get competent in another. Learn one deck like the back of your hand. And I don't mean just reading a mulligan. Watch a streamer play it. Take notes. Watch the situations and how they respond to them. Devote all your Hearthstone time to not playing at all for about a week, and just study the heck out of one deck. Read articles on the deck. Understand how the deck wins and how it loses. And not just understanding the cards. Understand from a theoretical and mechanical standpoint.
    • Have a lot of time and patience! Even amazing players that get legend every season don't get it quickly! Sure it may look like they do because they can get it in a week, but imagine how many games they have to play. It takes time, sometime hundreds of games playing at your absolute best with little to no mistakes.
    • Rank 5 is only half the battle. A year before making it, I was getting 5 consistently but never 4. Six months before actually making it, I hovered around 3-5. Three months, I was finishing around 1-2. From Rank 5, you need to win 25 times more than you lose for those lovely card backs. For some that's 35-10, for some that's 125-100. This is why I strongly recommend tip #1 to make this number of games as low as possible.
    • Don't get salty! Understand that you're gonna catch a bad beat sometimes. Also understand that if you look at the bigger picture, that one really bad roll had to happen eventually from a statistical standpoint. Spam that ranked play button at the end and get back in there! Some people recommend taking a break after lots of losses. I'm stubborn! I play a predetermined amount of games then I stop.
    • Take your time!!! One bad play can cost you a star and 20 minutes of your play time to recover that star! Rope every turn if you have to. The worst thing that happens is your opponent impatiently ragequits (great, free star), or he adds you to talk trash and you just ignore it anyway!
