Ok, gotta vent about this one.

So annoying being in the dregs and playing against opponents that are more than happy to lucksack, rather than play any consistent sort of strategy.

Hunter opponent just then, turn 3 Animal Companion - so no idea what they're playing. Turn 4 Frizz... ok, that makes Animal Companion pretty odd. Turn 5 Stormhammer, le sigh. They ended up playing some exceedingly average dragons, and a few cards that didn't fit in the deck at all (Keymaster Alabaster and Snake Trap hey >.> ), but who needs a well constructed deck when you can get Turn 4 Frizz with a lot of dragons, and Stormhammer with a lot of dragons.

Edit: GAH, so fucking annoying. Mage opponent. Turn 1, they play Waygate - I'm thinking "oh great, probably EZ combo time", but then they start playing elemental tribal. Cool, I'm thinking, maybe they've just included it for a free extra turn?

No, of course not. 90% of their deck is a pretty garbage elementals, but because of the matchup and how strong that combo is I lose anyway. Zzzzz.

Uuuugh, Battlegrounds round-by-round matchmaking combined with bad players. So frustrating! So in 9 rounds I get matched up against the bottom 2 players once (as in, once between the two of them), and constantly get matched up against the top players - while trying to go for the AFK achievmenet. Not only that, but the person who knocks me out, is still on tavern tier 3 on round 9. Lol, guess they're trying super hard to get top 4 at the cost of any chance of winning? XD

On that note, I just don't get people that tryhard for top 4 with builds that just won't win the game. Like, woohoo, you'll get some more MMR in this casual game mode where it gets arguably less fun as you rank up due to the damage problem. I'd rather get a first and a last place spot than two fourths, any day.

Uuuuuugh, of course when loading up DMH control warrior in wild my first match is against exodia mage. Not even good exodia mage (quest variant) - but one that played Pocket Galaxy *just in case* it hit Antonidas.

And of course this baddie hits full combo with 12 cards to go. Go home Hearthstone, you're drunk.

    > Play C'thun as the only new hero offered.
    > Seemingly do well with it, despite being somewhat forced to commit to dragons early.
    > Triple twice at rank 5, get two Rags. Ok, build shift, but two Rags at like turn 8, plus a hero power that's actually powering out now? Hell yeah!
    > Get zero elementals in tavern from that point on and finish sixth.

And then of course, next game get turn 1 Millhouse who gets a token, then turn 3 Lich King who - LOL - is still on tier 1 going demons with Wrath Weaver.

Edit: ugh, tryhards in this gamemode that'll do anything to top 4, even if their build has virtually no hope to win. I mean, it's a fun game mode - if you're not actually going to push top rank (and most people won't) who even cares if you come third or fourth?

Battlegrounds. Gah. RNG upon RNG. Just finished a game in second without a single golden (after finishing like 5th or 6th with Reno the game before - only one golden, to get a 5, and only offered garbage).

Beyond that, with the MMR reset you get many more bad players staying on tier 1 on turn 2/3 without good reason (that is, it's totally fine for someone like Maiev to stay on tier 1 on turn 2, given the breakpoints). Just had a Jandice do turn 2 tier 1 for... god knows what reason.

Edit: and she gets rewarded with 1st place - 5 goldens, to my second place 1 (even a golden Lightfang - obtained via the new clone, might I add - is no match for 5 goldens, including Brann in a murloc build - though admittedly golden Brann in murlocs feeds triples with the discover murloc). No justice.

Trying to get get the heroic card back for Tomb of Terror, and although Finley was my best hero for normal getting down the last 3 wings and final boss all on his little self(Didn't need to switch on Tekahn with weapon and he never seemed to have drawn the ooze), Reno with 3 plagues lord just to unlock Wand cause I thought it would be good for Tekahn, Brann and Elise only one PL dead each for their respective wings ony, heroic has been quite the opposite with Elise being the only I seem to manage getting past boss 6-7 consistently but I digress.

So I'm doing the Madness(Don't remember the wing number exactly but 2? I think...) on the final boss with Elise, and going well he's 87 down from 190 due to a failed attempt with Finley I'm sitting at 50 health(First Aid Kit + HP, so I haven't taken any damage), stole his Rin cause I don't want my deck to be destroyed that would end the game. right? RIGHT!!!?? LOL.

So he enters third phase when I burst him from 104 to 87, draws his shit, and then uses Physic Scream to throw all my minions into my deck and then ends turn. Now all my cards in hand are pretty much dead cards, got a BEEES!, a Nozdurmu which would crash the toaster I'm using and a few other MINION removals, and then I got a OG Yogg'saron.......and I use it.........it floods my board usual treant shit druids have in abundance(especially with wild cards), then it uses Myra's Unstable Elemental into a DOOM!....bye deck....hello massive fatigue damage.........goodbye game....

Not truly salty, mean these kind of shit things are what I love about Single Player but omg the game really wanted me to lose my deck and the karma I got for stealing Rin hit hard.

I mean, people can and should vent about whatever they want in this thread... but really, the single player experiences all have strategies that can be used to make them so much easier - much easier than PvP, where many of the best decks involve stuff that feels unfair (I did a couple highlander priest matches in wild for a couple quests today, and it's stupid how much damage you can put out between Raza and Shadowreaper).

In Tombs of Terror in particular, 3 of the 4 classes can ultimately pull off OTKs on the plague lords, making their runs a lot easier. Admittedly, you have to defeat some plague lords for each of these, but the good thing about that adventure is that you can lower a plague lord to minimal health, concede, and bring in a weaker hero to finish it off for easy progress towards those treasures. Anyway, Reno can get a ginormous Gatling Wand via double Sorc Apprentice effect + an echo card (wand requires 3 plague lord kills, those Reno's signatures for 50 damage and 1 plague lord are both pretty good), Elise gets infinite moonfires with her second hero power, Jr Navigator, and a 0 cost targetted spell that won't kill the Navigator (the current version of Power Word Shield is perfect for this), and while Flo Slatebrand - Brann's 2 plague lord signature - isn't guarantee you'll get a OTK combo in your run, she's so freaking powerful that it makes me sad that if I want to play her again, it's purely for fun as I have nothing left to do with Brann in normal or heroic thanks to how fun and powerful she is. If you really want to start on the right foot, keep doing first bosses until you get a Hearthstone off her battlecry or deathrattle, then get Bob to make copies of her. It starts to snowball out of control quickly, and I've had runs where I literally went to Bob's Tavern 5-10 times before I even killed the first boss, before deciding enough was enough and moving on.

I don't know if it's changed in expansions since ToT came out, but Finley didn't have a OTK/near-OTK like the other heroes - but, Truesilver Lance + his second hero power is very, very strong.  Continuous fuel in hand and a weapon with near-infinite durability that hits and heals for 5 each turn. The biggest problem with the setup is that the priest-style plague lord (Madness?) casts the plague that gives both players a poisonous dagger, thus destroying the lance - gotta be wary of that!

Duels is also frustrating. Getting through wins 1 to about 3 or 4 is basically "please let me dodge the people that have gone completely aggro and included cards that will be garbage in the later rounds".

Imagine explaining to returning players (if any) that aggro can now outdraw combo and control and there is a reliable neutral 2 mana draw card that isn’t a 1/1 and draws up to 3 cards... Gonna give us any fuckin nerfs Bli$$ard?

Voracious Reader is a problematic card and just generally way too good for its role (aggro reload). Way back when they tried to use this effect it was a worse effect (mirrored), and cost 2 extra mana for only 1 extra health (Jeeves) - and even then, I think it occasionally got run in aggro decks.

Sometimes it seems like Blizz has totally disregarded their previous philosophies on power creep, among others (like hand/deck disruption) in order to print cards at a new power level that'll get people excited.

Man, for all the other problems with the game right now, how da fug does Blizzard still make so many mistakes with card templating?

I was losing badly going for my 10th win in a duels run (pretty decent IMO, given that I was using a pre-DMF deck), so I copied my opponent's Bonecrusher with a Mask of Mimicry, expecting to get 2 random deathrattle minions after I ran it into their taunt minion.

Nope, nada, despite the card saying nothing about the minions that died having to be friendly minions (though, actually, that makes me think of a juicy combo you could get with this card, provided you have some way to play two of them like Faceless Manipulator, but I digress). I believe some cards these days make you assume that they had to be friendly, but I'm sure that others don't - and sure enough, checking Da Undatakah, it specifically mentions that the minions that died had to be friendly.

While I was definitely in a very losing position anyway, I'm a bit annoyed that they didn't just squeeze the word 'friendly' in there so you don't have to figure it out first hand.

Man, those cards that are so strong that they can pull bad decks over the line are frustrating. I mean, I play in jank leagues, so it's good that the decks aren't entirely super strong cards - but it's pretty annoying when my opponent has misbuilt the crap out of their demon deck, yet wins off the mana advantage offered by Skull of the Man'ari (and that, thanks to jank league, I'm not running weapon removal).

Had something similar happen the other day when I was playing a pretty meh highlander priest build, who happened to win off of Raza + Shadowreaper. Didn't matter how bad their cards were at that point - they were just fuel for the machine gun.

Ugh, playing MurLock for quests (3 warlock games + play 20 murlocs). Need them to be wins for how I do sets of games (3 wins - remnant from the old system, but my progress towards 1k wins on each hero is based on sets of 3).

For the third game, for 3 wins out of 3, come up against rez priest. Dominating early. They get turn 5 Mass Hysteria to near-wipe my board, turn 6 summon a 5/5 and manage to hit their Lifesteal minion for their first bit of RNG. So on my turn, I have lethal as long as my Tidecaller doesn't get destroyed by its deathrattle, and I have 6 minions left when I destroy it.

GUESS WHAT MINION GOT DESTROYED. So he lucksacks into lifesteal, then lucksacks into destroying the only minion that he needed to hit to actually survive. Got close to killing him despite that, but couldn't quite get there.

Then the lucky SOB wouldn't even accept the friend request. I just wanted him to acknowledge that he lucked out - at least my soul could rest a little easier if my opponent wasn't oblivious to their Matrix-level dodging.

Edit: for final game of the night, went for a win with the one class outside my 3-per-set rule (mage as it's already 1k+) so that I'd only need one more set of wins for my 7 ranked wins in the week. Put together a secret mage deck just for something nice and easy. Faced up against highlander priest - not the top of tier variant, but a more budget/homebrew variant - who included not one, but two anti-secret tech cards. Two anti-secret tech cards that are garbage against basically any other deck, and that only do well against a deck that's barely in tier 2. And I still won. Just annoying how hard I had to work for it given my opponent's random tech card luck (though they also included Harrison Jones, so maybe they've just put together a deck with many tech cards or something?).

Was tossing up whether to put this in pepper (for the insanely good luck resulting in the first) or here, and opted for here because ultimately the card is something I feel is problematic - Shifter Zerus in Battlegrounds.

In my most recent game as Elise (so good start already), I tripled on turn 4 into a Zerus (my man Kripp mentioned how dominant the high roll is if you get certain cards off of a super early Zerus, like Nomi, Lil Rag, Mama Bear, and all that sort of jazz). The other options weren't amazing, so Zerus. That resulted in a turn 5 Boat - far from the best 6 drop overall, but holy crap an amazing carry for turn 5. Basically got to lean hard on that, power level up to double Nomi, into eventual double Lil Rag and double poisonous Amalgam, and have a pretty easy time overall.

Literally never lost another game, and even killed someone on turn 7/9 gold thanks to dealing 17 damage to one of the bottom few players. In fact, it was a near perfect game - the only 2 rounds I lost were round 1 (Galakrond - whatcha gonna do) and round 4 (Ysera who was *still* on tier 1 with a tonne of Red Whelps).

While it was nice to actually have the good luck for a change rather than being against it, I still think Zerus doesn't bring anything healthy to the game. The game mode is already random enough - they don't need to include a card that can skyrocket you 2-3 tavern tiers ahead and give you the most powerful cards waaay ahead of their time. Yes, I fully understand that he usually doesn't, but then, there are also plenty of other garbage minions in the game. The fact that he can makes him problematic. I'd definitely rather have a world without Zerus, even if it means I miss out on crazy high rolls like this one.

Is it just me, or do the various Yogg-multi-spellcast-effects seem to rarely be a net negative, or even neutral, for the person using them?

Maybe it's confirmation bias. Maybe the stats say that amongst all the spells, all the effects and all the potential targets, it's more likely to be positive. I don't know. All I know is that it seems whenever someone uses something like Puzzle-Box it doesn't even come close to being a negative outcome.

Case in point: opponent plays Puzzle Box in wild. I'm playing DMH hard control warrior. Opponent gets Jade Idol, and the shuffle option - brutal card for the matchup, which I think would bring it to at least 50/50, if not slightly in their favour, despite the original matchup being majorly in my favour. After that, they get Void Contract, and hit the single DMH still remaining in the deck.

You can't make that stuff up. Getting an awesome counter-card for the deck, then destroying the key card in the deck. WTF.

Edit: I should also point out that this is a new-C'Thun variant, so that Void Contract was just fucking amazing. XD

Also, fucking unnerfed Raza. Just played a highlander priest with a pretty hodge-podge mix, but due to Raza + Shadowreaper (plus my inability to roll the armor hero power), ended up squeaking out the win. Fucking hate losing to shit decks that include one actual competitive combo to make up for the rest of their shittiness.

Oooooook, that was a fucking bullshit game.

Priest running... god, not even a cohesive strategy. Some sort of greedy, value build. What's bullshit is the randomness involved. They're playing some Elekk cuteness or whatever. They drop it on turn 3 - I kill it. Do the 0 mana get 2 creatures back card on turn 4, play it again, kill it. Play their second on turn 5, can't kill this one. Grave Rune - annoying, but ultimately manageable.

Over the course of the next 10 turns, they draw 3 Grave Runes (cast on subsequent Elekks thanks to Seance) without a single bit of card draw being played. Not only that, but I can't draw Doctor Boom or Jepetto (for my own draw/value) to save my life, despite actually having some relatively decent card draw.

They ultimately got out Lyra, Grave Rune, that 4 mana summon a 7 mana corrupt card - and when that gave them Beast Seller, I was fucking done. Can't fight against that much good luck, no matter how hodge-podge their decklist actually is.

Oh, and let's not forget the Kel'thuzad off the 2-creature Resurrect Stone, despite a myriad of junk creatures being played aswell.

Edit: most annoying part is not accepting the friend request. I might be able to sleep at night if they at least told me they knew how lucky their draws were. :-P
